Nice Brock Berglund Mention in Chuck Long article
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Really? I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not, but I thought he's been pretty firm on not taking sides between Berglund and Thompson. -
Reports: Odessa Permian naming Blake Feldt coach

6'2" 245 lbs as a current sophomore is pretty impressive. Could be an early center prospect for us, hopefully. -
Nice Brock Berglund Mention in Chuck Long article
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
We were his only offer at all, and there was a reason for that. As DT's biggest critic I think he turned out very well, all things considered. Next year he will be what he should've been all along; a serviceable backup who, if he comes in, will have the task of not turning the ball over and hitting short passes. -
Maybe, but it's also a university in Tennessee that a lot of local kids who don't have scholarships go to.

Reports: Odessa Permian naming Blake Feldt coach

Not out of the realm of possibility. They haven't really produced any legitimate D1 prospects since Garrett Porter (class of 09) who is still at Texas. Still would be a solid pipeline if it could be established, as we are the closest D1 school to west Texas besides Tech and UTEP depending on which west Texas city. -
Carson Newman in Tennessee? That's a four-year school, so that would mean no return to Denton. Good find NT03

That's what I heard on volnation, but I think that may be wrong like you said. This explains it a little better, basically talking about backtracking early enrollees to last class. I wish I could say this is 100% credible but I myself am not sure. http://www.themidnightyell.com/2012/06/breaking-down-numbers-in-class-of-2013.html?m=1#!

A&M is allowed to sign as many recruits as they can this class until they reach the 85 max total for the team. This is the only year they will be allowed to do this and it is because of being new to the SEC. Just what I've heard.

You want some offensive chit-chat, here's some....
BillySee58 replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
I know he's become a controversial player off the field at this point, but I really want to see Antoine Jimmerson take over and be our starting running back. 20+ carries a game with our offensive line as good as we are could give us this effect of just smashing you play after play, then opening up the play action. Without going too much into the qb debate, this would make their job much easier and our offense much harder to stop, as long as that passing game is improved from last year. -
Taking a look at where UNT stands in recruiting
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Dude! I was going to make a thread just like this! Darn you Vito, you beat me to the punch. I know I'm going to sound like a broken record, but I'm surprised Vito hasn't figured out that Kaydon Kirby has passed Boone Feldt up. We'll see for sure in spring, but that has been the case with or without Boone's injury problem. Either way, we definitely need some d-lineman heading into this stretch. The good thing is we redshirted 4 freshman defensive tackles last year (Mcdorman, Watson, Wallace, and Haboul) and 3 freshman defensive ends (Roberts, Dilonga, and Horton). I have a question though; is Medina going to be a linebacker or safety? This board seemed to be in agreement that he would be a safety but Vito listed him as a linebacker. -
That would be absolute BS for his waiver to be passed by the NCAA, if this is the truth. His only case for a waiver to play immediately would be to say that he was home sick and it caused him to "run away" from college or whatever he did, so his appeal would only make sense if he was transferring to a Dallas area school. Since he is going to Houston his waiver shouldn't pass or else this will open up the flood gates for freshman who don't like the school they end up at to just run away then choose whatever school they want and they'll be allowed to play there immediately.

Who You Got?....Notre Dame vs Bama In The NC Tonight?
BillySee58 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Been a Tennessee fan since I was born over there, started following them and the conference intently in 2001. Torn because bama is our rival (kinda one-sided) but I'll always pull for the SEC as long as they aren't playing UNT. -
Absolutely

Not surprising. He's more of a college qb. I could see him being an Andy Dalton type QB in the NFL, but not a high first round pick or anything had he declared imo.

2012-13 UNT Football Commitment List Updated 1-27-13
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Exactly. 4 players signed, all other are commitments.- 11 replies

- Reggie Pegram
- Darius Terrell

Dontre Wilson from De Soto. It also talks about Adam Taylor from Katy. Dude's a beast, 250 yards and 5 tds in the state championship game this year. He missed almost all of his junior year while Kyle Hicks tore it up so they offered Kyle instead. That could change now, but Taylor is committed to Nebraska so who knows.
-
This has already been posted, but yeah, hopefully he can be near their production.
-
Copy cat business absolutely. I really hope Mac and Chico were paying close attention to tonight.
-
Watched him play way back when I was in junior high haha. He blew my mind but I disagree. He was not the passing threat that Manziel was, but he didn't have to be in high school.
-
I think you are kidding, but in the event that you aren't, Manziel is in a completely different league than guys who are in a completely different league than Teagarden. However, a game like this really shows how a true dual-threat quarterback can open up a playbook and make an offense extremely tough to contain. Berglund can provide this wrinkle to our offense, Thompson can't and Teagarden should be left being a special teams stud and an improving receiver.

Another UNT player not dressed out
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Starting to wonder if Coleman will be back next year. -
I said this before and I'll say it again, Skyline is a program that we need to recruit the heck out of. Look at our De Soto pipeline. There is no way we get a 4-star transfer like Darius Terrell if we hadn't reeled in their "lower-rated" prospects in Zach Orr and Jimmerson. My point is, players at these big time programs are able to compete usually from day 1 after having to earn spots from other D-1 players, even if they weren't 5, 4, or even 3 stars. Also, they can sway their higher-rated high school buddies over here if things don't workout at x school and they want to come back home. We unfortunately don't have this advantage with Johnson.
-
I was thinking this might happen, and couldn't help but hope that he might come to UNT. Hey, maybe he was just home sick, I don't know. Either way we'd take him in a heart beat. UNT is a really good option for players who want to be close to home, yet be out of their parents shadows enough. I hope he is able to take care of what might've caused that incident to happen, but I really hope his talent doesn't go to waste.

Standout cornerback Chad Davis commits to UNT
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah he bit on either a hitch-and-go or a slant-and-go badly. Other than that it was just garbage time for him.
