  1. No, that's my point either way. He should count for the 2013 class whether he was on scholarship in fall or not. Vito said that there is an extra scholarship for the 2013 class and he was wondering where it came from. He speculated that maybe he shouldn't have counted Berglund in the 2013 class. If you don't sign the full 25 in any class you can back count your early signees from the next year into that previous class, opening up scholarships for your current class. I was just adding that this could not have been the case with Berglund since our 2012 class was full.
  2. Yes, if they transfer in on scholarship than they count towards the class. Pegram and Terrell will count in this class just like trice and Feldt did last year. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school/_/id/249/class/2012 This is why I'm confused about where Berglund goes. He can't count in the 2012 class since that class is already full, so he can't back count.
  3. Absolutely. Connections like this are huge.
  4. Ha, nice. But I think the fact that they have won every game speaks towards the validity of it. If they were crowned at the end of the regular season than I might say it is mythical, but the fact that they have had to beat the team ranked #1 or #2 every year is the closest way to validate the championships. Bottom line is seven straight wins in bowl games of that magnitude or no fluke. Thank the good lord for the future playoff system, but I think people will always complain that the system is flawed.
  5. Thank you! I guess the mystery continues
  6. Vito was talking about how we have an extra scholarship in this class after all. He thought that maybe he shouldn't have counted Berglund for this 2013, but I'm almost certain that Berglund has to be in the 2013 class since the 2012 class has no room to back count any scholarships. My question regards Christian Hines, the receiver from Corsicana who was supposed to grayshirt last semester along with Andrew Tucker and be part of the 2013 class. I have seen Tucker on campus, so his grayshirt must have gone as planned but I'm not so sure about Hines. Does anyone know if Christian Hines is still with the team? If he isn't then this is where the extra scholarship for this class came from.
  7. It's your opinion if you don't think they are best or if you think they are overrated. It is fact, however, that they have won seven straight national championships.
  8. Redshirt sophomore. If he were a junior he would assuredly take a redshirt year, but don't expect him to stay at QB.
  9. Hey! I'm from there! Great place actually. Beautiful scenery and pretty sweet weather.
  10. Very. I hope we can get him. I wonder if we got Smart and maybe a few other guys like Antoine and George, if Tebo grayshirts.
  11. Wow, nice! I know it's Texas State, but when was the last time we flipped a player? It seems like it's been a little while.
  12. Bump for Kingwood Green. How've things been going with Josh and Kingwood?
  13. I liked that too. This is not something that should be kept up in the long run, but playing primarily five guys the whole game does have its upsides. It creates good team chemistry and if the players are good, you get to keep your good players on the court, even though it is forced. Once a few guys come back they should hopefully fit into our rotation well, but we know the guys that need to be in our rotation come crunch time.
  14. I made a thread about this class. I believe that the prep recruits from this class are the best thing that the Dodge regime left for coach Mac, save for maybe Lance Dunbar. These guys plus the redshirt seniors from the class of 2009 (Thompson, Boutwell, Hilbert) should provide excellent upperclassmen leadership. Throw in guys like a former transfer senior (Marcus Trice) and former walk-on seniors like Darnell Smith and Sarge and we have a solid looking senior class.
  15. We signed the full 25 last year. Cam Feldt and Marcus Trice were included in the 2012 class. Also, don't forget to count Christian Hines and Andrew Tucker (our grayshirts) in the 2013 class. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school/_/id/249/class/2012
  16. Yeah, and you'd see a lot more crystal footballs in Tuscaloosa... oh wait! I get you're point, but recruiting classes are huge and the best coaches are good recruiters. This means getting players that rivals schools wanted too, and a lot of times these players happen to have quite a few stars on their recruit profiles. You're definitely right in one aspect. If you can't develop players then you're team will not reach its full potential. This is why I think Mack Brown should step down as an outsider looking in. Coach Mac seems to be doing a good job developing players so far.
  17. He's a serious football fan just like most of us. He is at every game and I don't see how anyone who attended at least every home game last year could be a fond of Thompson's play. Maybe he shouldn't have said what he said, but I'd rather have him speak his mind than lie about what he thinks. As for Connor, he was a steal and has performed very well for us thus far. He couldn't care less whether a few Thompson fans on this board have a target out for him.
  18. He wasn't listed at the end of the semester. I was hearing that he was really struggling in practice, so it's not completely out of the question that he got discouraged and went home. I don't know exactly what happened but I think he is gone. Also, one thing about Mustafa that has never been questioned was his work ethic. He was the only senior at our school to ever go through the off-season in our football class for their second semester of senior year, or at least since our current coach has been here. He just isn't tall enough to play end and he doesn't have the overall size but he's doing everything he can regardless. Truss bus has improved by leaps and bounds at squats but that will always be his weakness in the weight room. Hope he picks up his effort, but he should be fine.
  19. Yeah, but you have to consider that Bill Snyder is the all-time Junior College Recruiter. I'm sure he can live with it.
  20. He was being battled for by Baylor, Tech, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee. We wouldn't have had much of a chance unfortunately.
  21. Ah, forgot about Claude George! Yeah I like his potential as well. I like pulling players from Louisiana as well.
  22. Thank you! Romar has eliminated us.
  23. This. I look at Kenny Buyers contributing on special teams and even playing meaningful minutes at times in our dime packages last year as a walkon true freshman. If a guy like John Shilleci, scholarship commit who looked suspect when I saw him play for Guyer this year, can turn out as good as Kenny Buyers, I'd be happy.
  24. I agree. If Beasley commits, which I think he will since we are his only offer, I could see him being a potential grayshirt candidate
