Our o-line looked great against those monsters!

Kirby has outperformed Boone Feldt from day 1. If anyone is undersized, it's Feldt. Nevertheless we should be set at center for the next four years with those two.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football - Brock Berglund
BillySee58 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Played in a scrimmage and accumulated some descents stats that game. Did have 2 picks, but judging by the stats he probably got more playing time than the other 2 qbs he was competing with. Largely irrelevant now. Hey, we starting winning some significant games and we'll start getting people's attentions. -
I didn't want to say he had back footwork and throwing motion. I've bashed him a little too much and, if he starts, I'll probably bash him in the fall. It's spring, time for hope so I'll put some faith in DT right now. But yes, bad mechanics unfortunately.

Haha oops, I guess that was chelf. Go ahead and call me racist now.

2014 Offer: Sam Sizelove, LB, Argyle
BillySee58 replied to GrayEagle's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
First team 3A all state linebacker as a junior. Good offer list, but you have to think we have a good shot if we have a good season and because of his family. -
Also, it looked like Kenny Buyers has moved to receiver. He was a nickel back and played a good amount of special teams for us last year as a walk-on true freshman. Guys who are agile enough to cover slot receivers make good slot receivers themselves. I could see this working out well.
-
Yeah, his footwork does look good but that was never really the problem. Someone on here said DT was a pitcher growing up. Much like some pitcher's who go on to play qb, Thompson has a long windup rather than a short and compact stroke. Because of this he rarely, almost never, throws a spiral which does matter. Tim tebow, former pitcher, has the same problem and we've seen all the flack he's caught for this issue with his throwing mechanics.

DCTF'S Lone Star top 50 most important players
BillySee58 replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Mark Lewis has looked solid at practice and according to Silver Rex Rollins is performing well also. So basically we continue to be spoiled at running back. Hopefully we can say the same about our team as a whole. -
Yeah, I've seen him on campus and wondered who is he. Looks 6'5"
-
Haha you're hardly the first to mistake interest and offers on a recruiting page
-
I thought he qualified before we took his commitment, but I could be wrong.

The top programs almost never let the good DTs slip through the cracks. I.E. Charles Walker this year going to OU. Nevertheless I really like the potential of syd Moore coming in and hope a few of these young guys can break through this spring.

Football Weigh-Ins and Spring Expectations
BillySee58 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Bump. These weights are a little more accurate plus these are the goal weights of where the players should be right now. -
He doesn't have the coordination or lateral movement to play linebacker. Fullback might be good where he can just go straight and plow the first guy he sees. But I wouldn't give up on him at defensive tackle just yet. He is over 250 lbs at this point so he has a better shot if his technique improves. Yeah, at defensive tackle I hope we take a look at moving Wylie Reinhardt there. I loved watching his film. 6'4", 260+ lbs and mobile enough to make a play or two catching the ball at tight end. He appears to have that nasty mentality to play defense so I could see him being a major player at defensive tackle for us down the road. He could make a good tandom with syd Moore, but we still need depth.
-
No, he's here, Trussell is ahead of him at right tackle. Trussell is about 20 lbs heavier, an inch taller, and stronger in the weight room than Manu. Don't underestimate him, he's coming in this spring looking to earn a starting spot too.
-
He came a long way. His freshman year was his first year ever playing football, and he didn't even really know the rules to the game. His strength was always outstanding. To this day he is one of the strongest lifters on the entire UNT team. His technique was not good in high school. All he knew how to do was Bull rush, no pun intended. He's gotten a lot better with his hands, but when in trouble he still relapses back to the bull rush which doesn't work well on 300 lb lineman. I wouldn't be opposed to a move to fullback either, but at defensive tackle if he doesn't keep putting on weight (those measurables are from the beginning of last football season) and learn to use his hands better he'll be toast.
-
I think Alex Lincoln needs to start at defensive end for us. I know we need help at tackle, but he could still rotate in there. We need him on the field, best overall defensive lineman on this team in my opinion. As a former high school teammate to Haboul, I completely agree.

He was on the travel team last year. Played a lot on special teams.

OU QB Transfer Drew Allen, (6-5, 210) Alamo Heights
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Maybe, but don't expect it. The word is that Mac only wants 4 qbs on scholly, plus the fact that we are currently full at 85 scholarships. Wouldn't be too surprised to see a few guys transfer or leave some other way after spring ball. Happens pretty much every year. -
OU QB Transfer Drew Allen, (6-5, 210) Alamo Heights
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Yeah, TFLF seemed to dance around your question of whether or not it was a stretch to compare Allen to Russell Wilson. Also, TFLF, what are you talking about that Berglund never sniffed the field at Kansas. That was because he was in Colorado away from the team the entire 2011 season. All reports indicate that the spring 2011, before his legal troubles, he was in contention for the starting job as a true freshman. Drew Allen was a third-string at OU behind Jones and Blake Bell. Idk who is better, but you're bashing a player who is actually on our team and committed to the success of this program. I'd personally rather get behind our sophomore quarterback than your pipedream QB for one year Drew Allen, who "might" be the next Cam Newton or Russell Wilson. -
This is the battles we should be winning
BillySee58 replied to H-towngreen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Why should we be winning this battle? They went to a bowl last year and we didn't, or haven't for the past 8 seasons. I know what you mean though. This is a huge season for recruiting, obvious as that may sound. The one thing we have to sell in the recruiting game, besides Apogee, is that coach Mac is leading us in the right direction. If year 3 doesn't yield better results on the field than year 1 did, we could be in trouble and be left with little to sell about our program and even more ammunition for schools to use against us. I am willing to eat my crow, but I think we turn it around this year and hit bowl eligibility as well as turning it around in recruiting. I think the upgrade that we will see at quarterback is going to make a bigger difference than even pro-Berglund fans are anticipating. Should this not happen, I won't hide nor act like this hasn't been my stance. -
Next weekend in Waco, we got 3 club games in two days haha. I can't wait either.
