  1. I completely agree. It's the final thing we need but also the most important thing. Something else that would come with winning is a buzz around campus. About 75% of our students would simply say "our football team sucks" if asked about our football team. Most probably couldn't name more than 3 or 4 players on the team. If we win and get a buzz going around campus then the football players would feel the love as big men on campus. Football players at schools like A&M, Texas, and TCU are treated as semi-celebrities (no not just Johnny Manziel). Whether you like athletes being on-campus celebrities, the recruits love that idea. I remember the morning after Jimmerson won the LaLa game on national TV with our play of the year, I saw him walk into the Union past plenty of students and none even acknowledged him. No "hey man, great play" or "way to go Jimmerson" statements. That's something that has to change and I hope will with more winning.
  2. Terrell was #15 at Texas. That's a possibility as well for who TE #87 is.
  3. Yeah a sophomore qb rated 79 is nice when starting a dynasty. Also, the demo is out now and it's free, 3 minute quarters and you can only play as 6 teams like always.
  4. If winning is the last thing holding us back then why would us having a good season and making a bowl game matter in our recruiting efforts to flip Nick Orr?
  5. Let's start winning so we can have a chance with these guys.
  6. Sometimes the depth chart does not always reflect who is rated the highest. I think Byrd will be the starter on the game, although Jimmerson is rated higher. Could be Jimmerson starting though.
  7. They've always rated him low. Hopefully he's right below at 75. Whitfield, Lemon, Y'Barbo, Antonio Johnson, and Derek Akunne should all be at least over 70 as well.
  8. http://www.operationsports.com/news/637737/ncaa-football-14-player-ratings-top-10-players-from-each-team/ For those gamers out there. Our top 10 players in this year's edition of NCAA Football are on this video around the 2:30 mark. Top 10 players for North Texas - MLB #35 (Zach Orr): 82 overall - DT #90 (Ryan Boutwell): 80 overall - HB #34 (Antoinne Jimmerson?): 79 overall - QB #4 (Brock Berglund?): 79 overall - LOLB #11 (Will Wright): 79 overall - DE #93 (Brandon McCoy): 79 overall - SS #6 (Hilbert Jackson?): 78 overall - HB #24 (Brandin Byrd): 78 overall - K #37 (Zach Olen): 77 overall - TE #87 (Chris Loving?): 76 overall A few interesting ratings. I'm trying to figure out who TE #87 is. Drew Miller is 86, but it still might be him. I doubt QB #4 is DT, but that is a possibility as well. Also HB #34 is probably Jimmerson especially since they had him as #32 last year.
  9. I've thought about this as well, but we really need Loving at tight end IMO. Out tight end depth is good, but the rest of those guys are undersized on the line if scrimmage. Most of them are used more as fullbacks in this offense and I think that's where they belong.
  10. I'm thinking Darvin Kidsy. He has the speed to get separation and his route running was very impressive for high school, not to mention he had some good blocking on his highlights.
  11. Hit the nail on the head. Especially as many of these guys will be playing their first season of D1 basketball. Can these guys have marked improvement over the year? The players decide some of this on their own, obviously, but the coach obviously plays a huge role. Didn't see very much improvement over the year last year. That needs to change.
  12. Yeah he wants to run track in college. I don't blame him. He has the speed and talent to do both
  13. Also, Khalil Reese of De Soto is playing. 6'1" 300 lbs, could be a walk on O-lineman for us. Can never have too many De Soto players.
  14. Absolutely. Dee Paul was one of the most electric players in the state, regardless of classification. There's a reason he was offered by Tech, Ok St, and Tennessee.
  15. Yeah, on paper. We haven't seen Voss or Gaines yet so let's hold off on how good they are. Our team was awesome on paper last year and we all remember how that turned out.
  16. Basically, we've got some tough competition. Even with Zach and all the De Soto connections we are going to have to impress on the field if we have any shot. I have a feeling Nick gives us a chance to impress him with this football season.
  17. I would put TCU right up there for almost the same exact reasons.
  18. Where does this ok state hunch come from?
  19. Haha agreed. Just some friendly bragging. Oxymoron perhaps
  20. I like the way guys like Miller, Prior, and Tanner Smith can all play fullback for this offense as well. Having 85 scholarship players on a roster is nice. You at least have the bodies, you just need some to emerge from the pack and be productive. Looking for some pleasant surprises this year, no pun intended.
  21. We'll see when he gets here. You can only take the things that coaches tell recruits with a grain of salt. They're usually at least partly true, but in recruiting you aren't going to tell a tight end that he won't ever get the ball thrown to him if you hope for him to pick you over K-State. I think Loving starts for us so I imagine him getting around as many passes thrown to him as Power did, which was 14 catches last year and 16 the year before.
  22. I agree, but we aren't counting on him to do a whole lot for us in the passing game. Not saying he can't, just saying I wouldn't expect a lot of catches for Loving. Coop Jones and Marcus Smith are the more likely receiving threats at tight end. Should be a fun position to watch.
  23. This is the reason we have Darius Terrell at slot.
  24. That's what I'm thinking. To me, the weapons are in place for him. Gotta have a short leash on DT if he's struggling at the beginning of the year. Tired of all these excuses.
