  1. Have you seen Invincible? This reminds me of when Machinehead hired Battle Beast and those other guys to fight Titan and Invincible. Bringing in the reinforcements.
  2. There’s a very good chance we have to rebuild our QB depth chart. Not just find a starter. I look at this as a guy who can contend for the starting job but also a guy who probably hops Amani Gilmore and pushes Bryce Drummond, the other guys who have similar eligibility. Keep in mind those guys committed under Wallis, not Joseph. Head was at Pearland when Joseph was coaching in the Houston area so pretty reasonable to think this is his guy.
  3. No. I still expect two.
  4. Was a true freshman by classification this year (HS Class of 2020). https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4432242/jd-head https://247sports.com/Player/JD-Head-46056407/college-256223/
  5. Probably mostly. Although JD Head is a transfer who adds to our roster classification imbalance (another current freshman). I definitely think we add some high school recruits in February once we have a better idea on who on our current roster enters the portal, December I expect JUCOs and transfers.
  6. Not the flashiest offer list but this is clearly someone the coaches identified and have really been going hard after over the past few weeks. Glad we aren’t neglecting the JUCO studs.
  7. Yeah I was just more speaking to the “learning on the job” piece. Maybe could have gotten a more experienced FBS QB coach who didn’t have as much familiarity with the offense. In that case there’s learning on the job at teaching the offense and offensive install tasks, so it’s a matter of preference. They chose someone more familiar with the offense but inexperienced as an FBS QB coach rather than the opposite. I wouldn’t say he has done a good job developing QBs or that he’s exempt from blame. I just don’t look at QB development as a one-year evaluation cycle.
  8. And, more importantly, he played QB under Briles whose Veer and Shoot offense we have implemented here. Bloesch and Tate Wallis, both from that Briles coaching tree, were the ones who headlined that offensive implementation in 2020 and I think Bloesch and Littrell felt Joseph’s familiarity with the system was important in that hiring decision.
  9. 6’1” 250 lb defensive end from Rutgers. 15 career starts at Rutgers https://scarletknights.com/sports/football/roster/cj-onyechi/10368
  10. Back to back all Southland conference 1st team safety. Would think he would only have 1 year of eligibility remaining based on him entering college in 2017, but according to his twitter he has 2 years of eligibility remaining.
  11. Starting left tackle at UT Martin (FCS). Appears to have two years of eligibility left.
  12. https://stats.ncaa.org/selection_rankings/nitty_gritties/22483 We come in at 104. 3rd in CUSA (UAB up at 35th). #1 is Purdue.
  13. First G5 in the playoffs since the CFP started with the 2014 season.
  14. They don’t count towards NET, if that’s what you mean.
  15. I think we could win almost double digit conference games just by virtue of the suffocating defense. Offense coming along will dictate our ceiling.
  16. Zappe is 289 yards away from setting the single-season passing yard record.
  17. The thing I keep coming back to is that we are playing Tulsa in basketball in OKC on December 21st, which is the same day the Frisco Bowl is scheduled for. I wonder if Wren is trying to get us in the extra bowl game so that we can play locally but on a different day than the basketball game in OKC.
  18. Thank you. And yeah, maybe a few late surprises or guys who sign after 12/15. I think across the country this might be the busiest February signing day since the December one was introduced.
  19. I put together a scholarship rundown. I don’t know the exact situation but this is my best estimation. I’m not sure if we have any specialists like Mooney, Rodriguez, Durham, etc on scholarship. Going to assume Mooney and Rodriguez are on scholarship to be conservative, so I have us currently at 78 scholarships with 8 being seniors. I expect Ridge Texada and Ayo Adeyi to be put on scholarship so that would put us at 80 less the 8 spots opening up puts us at 72 players on scholarship for next year, if everyone were to return. Here is the breakdown I have: 80 scholarship players 8 seniors 9 juniors 17 sophomores 16 redshirt freshmen 30 true freshmen OL - 13 RB - 6 (1 senior) QB - 5 WR - 11 TE - 5 (1 senior) DL - 16 (3 seniors) LB - 11 (2 seniors) DB - 11 (1 senior) K - 1 P - 1 We have 46 players with at least three more seasons of eligibility. After the bowl game the players will have their exit interviews with the coaches. Inevitably, some will be told that there isn’t really a path for them to become starters here and we will see transfers. Depending on how many transfer, and how many players choose to forego any remaining eligibility, we will have a better picture of how many spots we truly have left. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to see 13 more players transfer or quit and we could actually sign a full 25. Especially if you consider players who will leave after Spring.
  20. Hell, play UTA again. They were supposed to host Nevada on Tuesday.
