  1. I hate to be a basher, but I have seen this kid play and he just wouldn't have a chance, as meangreentexan said. We aren't talking about a kid who is 6', or even 5'10. He is 5'6". That's giving up 10" to the average lineman. His arm strength is also not at the D1 level and he doesn't spin the ball the way you'd like out of a D1 qb. But yes, I've wanted us to pursue him for a while as a guy you get the ball to.
  2. Our D puts the hit in #hit6
  3. I would hardly call it miraculous that Georgia is a top 10 team. They get their pick of the litter in recruiting in the 4th best high school football state in the country. They should be a top 10, at least top 15, team every year, as well as Texas and USC. As for Tennessee and Iowa, Iowa hasn't been very good lately despite having a good coach. This is partly because they are recruiting out of Iowa which is hardly a high school football hotbed (sorry mini Mac). I think we could beat Iowa in 2015 and Texas next year if they keep Mack Brown. Tennessee on the other hand looks like they've finally found a capable coach. They're just looking for a capable qb of the future, but they currently have a top 5 recruiting class that has guys who will be pretty darn good by the time we play them. On a side note, as a lifelong Tennessee fan I will be making my first trip to Rocky Top in 2015 wearing Green. Can't wait!
  4. They have a good coach and probably the best qb in our division. There's a good chance they'll experience a drop off after this year without him
  5. We've got the three winnable road games against the Louisiana schools and USM as well as the home games against UTEP and UTSA. If we take care of business in those games then we should get to a bowl. If we can prove we are better than Tulsa and MUTS on the field then we're talking about a nice bowl game as well as a chance to compete for our division and conference championship.
  6. That's our offense. We threw the ball 47 times last week and the longest pass play was 25 yards. Nothing wrong with that either. Ball control as best as we can and we may be able to hang with these guys.
  7. Yup, good point. Yes, UAB and Southern miss are entering our division for sure. I would think they start over with the scheduling, especially with new schools like ODU and WKU coming in.
  8. While we should be better than both those teams, it is definitely interesting. Especially from the UTSA perspective. I'm also curious about Rice vs. Houston. I wouldn't mind if rice supplanted itself this week as top dog in Houston for now and going forward.
  9. He's still eligible for it. He just has to have a season-ending injury for them to grant it to us. Not sure how we get that to work out.
  10. I just think Mac is going to stick with Mcnulty as his backup. DW is just as good a runner as Mcnulty, maybe more athletic.
  11. You're forgetting about the CUSA championship game and the bowl game
  12. How would we go about redshirting DW since he already played? Maybe fake an injury or something, but burning his redshirt still makes no sense, especially after Mac still went with Mcnulty after DT had to come out on Saturday. I too hope we can find a way to redshirt him still.
  13. I firmly believe this will be a different team on the road. I'm basing that off 3 things: 1. We are simply a better team with more depth than the past two seasons. 2. The way our defense has made adjustments in the second half with 2 second-half shutouts and giving up just 6 points against Ohio in the second half. 3. A different DT this year. They've finally calling plays that suit his abilities. Curls, outs, and slants to death on these teams as well as the occasional running threat from DT. As everyone has said, the next step is to actually get back on the plane accompanied by a W. Playing well on the road but still losing isn't good enough anymore.
  14. Yup, good job on the prediction and good game Saturday. How'd Chalich do? His numbers were decent, just wanted to hear how he did with the eyeball test. Impressed all of us live. How about Epps? What a pickup by you guys out of a JC.
  15. Both of them would absolutely drum you guys, just like Rice will.
  16. In all seriousness, Todd Gurley may be the best running back in all of college football. I'm from Tennessee, so I've followed the vols since I was very young, and as a result the Georgia bulldogs. Aside from Gurley, Keith Marshall is a speed back who can take it the distance as well. Their qb Aaron Murray is a solid qb who can make you pay on the ground every once in a while as well. They don't quite have a true number 1 receiver with Malcolm Mitchell out, but they spread the ball around through the air. On defense they've given up some yards and points so far but they've gone against Clemson and South Carolina. Their defense hasn't been their strong point over the past couple years, but they have good size and they run a 3-4 scheme. They're breaking in 3 true freshman starters on the defense at linebacker, safety, and cornerback, so those might be a few guys we could exploit but they are very talented which is why they're starting as true freshman for a preseason top 5 national team. As an SEC fan, I firmly believe that Georgia is the biggest underachieving team in the nation in the BCS era. They're the only big state school from one of the top 6 recruiting states (California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio) in the country that hasn't at least reached a national championship game in the BCS era. We can score some points on this team and if our D plays like they have in the second halves, allowing just 6 points through 3 second halves this season, then it could be a surprisingly close game. Keep that explosive offense off the field and see what happens.
  17. Exactly. Watching the replay there was nothing that would leave me to believe it was anything more than a cramp. His thumb just looked like it was locked up in a natural position. Should be fine, we can only hope.
  18. Texas is 1-2, we are 2-1. We could very easily have a better record than them this year. Just wanted to throw that in there. There's been talk about Ohio beating Marshall. Marshall could be the team to represent the east this year, which means if we make it to the CUSA championship game we will have a shot against them, ECU, or whoever. Our division is shaping up to look wide open. Tulane beat La Tech in a sloppy game. Two teams that we have a very good chance to win against on the road. Tulsa got smashed by OU, not saying much but they still don't look impressive. Rice beat Kansas for the second straight year and appear to be the team to beat as of now. MUTS squeaked out a win against Memphis and they'll be a tough game at home with potentially a bowl slot on the line. UTSA had a respectable loss to Arizona. Not a game to take lightly but we should win that one. UTEP beat one of the worst teams in FBS in NMSU, the only team Idaho beat last year. My power ranking through 3 weeks on our division: 1. Rice 2. North Texas 3. Tulsa 4. Tulane 5. UTSA 6. UTEP 7. La Tech
  19. Get out of that Georgia game as injury free as possible heading into the bye week, then we're looking at 8 games in which we should have a chance in all 8. 4 home games and 3 road games against a few of the easiest teams in our conference as of right now (La tech, Tulane, Southern miss) and a game against Tulsa which looks less daunting by the week. Continue to take care of business at home and let's see if we can steal some on the road!
  20. How about Chico? He really called plays to DT's strengths. Dink and dunk em to death, make them account for the qb in the running game.
  21. I'll take some as well! This is the kind of crow that don't taste too bad with a little salt.
  22. Good stuff! Rangy cornerbacks are hard to come by. Congrats Andrew, and good luck on the rest of your senior season!
  23. Scotty young was 9-28. Ouch! Two road games here that we really should win. Tulane hasn't looked good but I don't see us blowing them out.
  24. Hopefully we can out rebound these schools. The Alabama-Huntsville overshadowed this game, but didn't east central out rebound us in the exhibition game? Either way, this has to equate to a lot of wins, even if they don't count towards our RPI.
