  1. Ohio improved to 5-2 today and Ball State improved to 7-1. They have to just be kicking themselves that they lost to us. Also, Georgia dropped their second straight game. Not a great season for those guys. Saw someone compare our loss to Tulane and Ball State's loss to us. Big difference IMO. We outgained Tulane by over 130 yards, while Ball State was not able to outgain us (we outgained them by about 10 yards). Regardless, our tough out of conference looks to have done a pretty good job of preparing us for this conference slate.
  2. I don't know what 90 said that was premature. We were playing too conservative. We got one deep ball in the first half on a tremendous catch and run by Brelan, other than that we had nothing to speak of.
  3. Have to put them right below A&M Commerce
  4. He meant that he would be looking for Orr hiding under his jersey, because he couldn't seem to get Orr off of him all day. Twas a very weird reference.
  5. "That's what you call a winning streak." - Lou Brown, major league
  6. Belongs to your North Texas Mean Green!
  7. If we can hold on we'll have a better record than TCU and SMU. Best record in the DFW has a nice ring to it.
  8. Just like every conference game, we're a better team than our opponent
  9. That's the second time in the last two road games where DT has stared down the defensive lineman that he threw the ball to. I completely agree that it was a stupid call, but DT needs to throw the ball at Byrd's feet instead of right in the lap of the d-lineman.
  10. Hey Cooley, there was some talk after the injury was diagnosed for Graham that he might be back by playoffs. Do you know if that is still a possibility?
  11. Dodge was injured during his senior season iirc. I'm pretty sure he missed two or three games.
  12. That usually factors in at least a little bit. White is another example of why a big year on the field could be vital for recruiting. Also for a guy like Fonzale Davis who is really drawing a lot of attention from the big boys.
  13. We have a game tomorrow. You have chancellor on your mind.
  14. I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. Not talking crap about any recruits. Just stating that it's nice to have underclassmen pushing upperclassmen for starting spots. We've had upperclassmen starting by default in the past. We're seeing a lot of freshman making it hard to keep them off the field despite having experienced guys in starting positions. Regardless of ranking and who was offered by who, it's good seeing freshman push for playing time like John, Fred Scott, Sed Ellis, and Darvin Kidsy. That shows me that our recruiting is improving, because we have the depth where we could've redshirted the guys, but they've proven too good to keep off the field.
  15. I love it! Hope John has the fiery intensity to prove the recruiting websites that you do. Actually, that's probably where you got that from. Personally, I factor in a player's offer list, film, and his recruiting site rankings in that offer with the first two subject to alternation. I trust a player's offer list before I trust my personal evaluation of his film, because I cede that I am not a professional talent evaluator. Just a college kid who played in high school and has watched college football obsessively since I was 7. When a player has been recruited over it means that a player has been passed on the depth chart by a younger player. Some freshman come in bigger and/or faster than a 21 or 22 year old could ever get. This is a good thing for the program and means that recruiting is improving. An example is Darvin Kidsy playing over seniors like Pleasant and Caldwell. Cyril Lemon starting as a true freshman is another example. John playing as a freshman is an example too, make no mistake about it. Diamond in the roughs are great to have, especially the ones that pan out. But it's also great to get highly-rated guys who a lot of people want and can contribute early like Zach Orr and Cyril Lemon.
  16. Looking like the most realistic possibility for next year.
  17. We have not used him and he is headed for a redshirt.
  18. Mac loves playing upperclassmen and starting guys with the most experience. He also doesn't do a whole lot of lineup shuffling. The lineup that started the first game against LSU last year was almost the exact lineup that started the last game against WKU, save for receivers after losing Brelan and having Harris and D Smith overtake Bynes. This year the only switch has been at cornerback and that'll probably be the only change all year. For the rest of the time that Mac is here you will see a high percentage of our starters being upperclassmen. He hasn't brought in the highest rated recruits and until he does he will develop the young players until it is their turn to start.
  19. They lost 32 last year and have 26 this year, not sure how many are scholarship, but we're only losing 18 scholarship seniors. Anything under 20 is a low number of seniors graduating. Problem is we're losing studs like Orr and Chancellor, as well as four d-lineman where we have the least depth. Plenty of teams in the country, our conference, and our division will lose more than us.
  20. Yeah, it isn't new. I couldn't find any other threads about this.
  21. I'm not saying run it 50 times into an 8-man front. If they're putting 8 in the box we should be throwing, but we should also rush for more than 20 yards or whatever it was against Tulane.
  22. Nick Schrapps isn't on the team or roster. SIAP, but I haven't seen any talk on here of him no longer being on the team, but he isn't.
