Yup. Our ends could line up like they do in a 4-3, but we'd only need Clayton to fill our spot at defensive tackles. Then we could have four linebackers. Hello national championship!
-
You guys surely don't want a line of cakewalks to end the year, do you? UTSA will be a decent test but our defense should hold them in check. To me, the big factor is whether or not we get any scores from our defense. Defense and special teams have had three touchdowns the last two weeks, including two against Rice. If we don't get any then I'm not so sure we pull away from this team. Still should be a handily won game, but I don't think this will be a blowout on offensive scores alone.

Yup. He isn't on the roster. Not sure if he's a transfer, freshman walkon or what. But the kid is big and looks like he could play defensive tackles.

Never been more proud of Thompson...

You didn't come across that way. Just letting Travis know why there is very little criticism of Thompson on the board after a 10-24 performance against UTEP. I agree that people shouldn't be focusing on it as good as our team is playing, but it shouldn't be completely ignored either. -
Who should be our next Men's head coach?

Did you follow or watch the year before? If you just came in last year then it's unfair to understand the drop off just by looking at stats. -
It's Clayton, and I've seen him in an episode of beyond the green. Hoping he's a d-lineman, because that boys big and we all know we need big defensive tackles
-
That's awesome! Great to have leaders like this on the team.

No, everyone has said that. But we won, so you aren't supposed to criticize him. Defense did great, o-line and backs were running at will, and special teams were outstanding again. And he threw a gutsy block, so that's what we're supposed to talk about. -
I agree. I think he's got a really good team-first attitude. Combine that with his talent and I really believe he'll help the team win the next two years.

Don't waste your time. You obviously don't watch the games or keep up with the team to understand the magnitude of what has happened over the last two seasons. -

If you think Jacob Holmen is the only player to play under both Coach Jones and Coach Benford then you really should not be arguing with people who actually keep up with this team. And I'm so tired of hearing people say "we would've lost the Northwood game last year." We should never be playing close to that team. Even as well as they played, that should never be closer than a 20 point game after the first 15 minutes. -

It's one of their state songs. But still, never realized how ridiculous that was until I moved to Texas. -

I started kindergarten over there the year after Tennessee won the first BCS national championship. We had to sing rocky top in school every morning after the pledge of allegiance. The love for that song over there is unbelievable. -

I think he's giving DT a chance, especially with this game against UTEP where we had the game in hand the whole time. The thing is, DT isn't a deep ball qb. His game is the dink and dunk throws like he did all game long against schools like Idaho, K-State, and Ball State (did have a nice post over the middle to Brelan that game). Those high percentage throws get his confidence up and confidence is very important for Thompson. When he starts playing bad, especially at home, he feels the heat. No need to open up the downfield passing attack like he's Drew Brees. Then a qb who was able to go 25-28 on the road at #15 K-State only goes 10-24 against UTEP at home or 11-24 at home against FCS Texas Southern. -
Cooley = brutally honest. Telling it like it is.

We're bringing in a scholarship qb this class too

Born in Tennessee, I grew up a vols fan and they hold a very special place in my heart. I still keep up with them, but my UNT Mean Green are my main focus and I love it. I really am looking forward to that game in 2015 where I plan to make my first trip to Neyland, while wearing green. I hope we would beat them, but I'd rather us drop the Iowa game that year than the Tennessee game. For selfish reasons -
Thank you tasty

Absolutely. And don't go thinking that as our team improves and our recruits improve that walkons will stop contributing. Always guys who slip through the cracks.
-
I've thought this as a possibility as well. He moves well for a big guy. Had a win in OT against La Porte where he made a great run then dragged a kid into the endzone for the game winning td.
-
He went in last game for the last couple plays/handoffs. He will have two years left, regardless of if he played any games this year or not.
-
Good find. Good luck to Sam
-
Just about every home game this year has been a great one for recruits to come experience.

Highlights http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=haBpun4NNHA He's a south paw. Delivers a pretty good ball, not bad pocket presence, and can take a hit. Watch for yourself, but I wonder if we'll bring him and Means in and let them battle it out. Means has the size but this kid has the production, even if it was at a lower level of play.
