We're going to have 7 seniors next year, at least 1 junior in Anefiok, and at least 1 freshman in Wesley after a redshirt year. I think 2 JUCOs and 2 freshmen would be good. We need freshmen badly but we could also use a JUCO or two so that Anefiok isn't our lone senior in two seasons.

Interesting. Not a good start to Trent Johnson's second season. Wasn't a very good first one either. Still not sure why Trent Johnson left LSU to go to TCU. Guess money talks.

It's a bye week. Let's speculate on next season

I think he kind've had it before then, but that was the game where Mac probably decided internally that he was going to stick with DT for the rest of the year, basically no matter what. Interesting what is really going on with Dajon. Hard to tell if he really is hurting, but we probably will never know. -

Another side note on that month of practice for the bowl; Conner Means, our 2014 qb commit, is enrolling after the semester is up and he will be eligible to practice with the team during the bowl practices iirc. -

Mac has said that he wouldn't be opposed to rotating qbs but he's yet to do it. I think he'll pick a starter and go with him. Austin against Texas would be a bad game to rotate qbs to find out who should be your guy. Dajon looked liked he was going to be groomed to be the starter after entering the game late against Idaho and having his redshirt burned for no apparent reason, other than to groom him as the starter for next year. It seems now that Mac was doing that seemingly to keep his word that Williams absolutely would not redshirt, and now he's trying to pull out all the stops to get him a redshirt for the year after all. He'll be given a good chance whether he's a sophomore or redshirt freshman. Since then he stuck with Mcnulty as the backup and he's done decent job. He had a fumble and a pick against Idaho when DT got hurt and had a nice run and some handoffs but no passes the next time DT got hurt against Ball State. I feel like Mac will give Mcnulty the first crack at the job in spring. As for Berglund, he's had a tough time. There's been some speculation that he's been in the dog house and it would make sense, but he's stuck with it and been a team player. He isn't transferring and he's going to compete for the starting job. Should be a wide-open competition and everyone has a chance. All 3 will get a chance with the first team and no one has separated themselves from each other. -
Jeffrey Wilson's recruitment by UNT

40 times are irrelevant unless laser timed, as Dan said. Watch the kid's film. He's fast enough and he looks like a D1 back. His production is impressive and he should be a good back for us. -

What do you guys think about the passing game? That could be a huge wildcard and it could really take our offense to the next level. Or we could really see some growing pains and regression without DT, Brelan, and D Smith. Having a mobile qb could really help things downfield with safeties needing to stay up for run support and if teams choose to use a spy that could help things downfield as well. But we also don't know how much Mac will trust his new qb to throw, especially on early downs. Since he hasn't trusted DT even though he often raves about him. -

One of the most impressive things to me during Mac's tenure has been his ability to replace coaches. As a head coach it is a good thing and you strive to have your assistants move up and get better jobs. Good sign that your program is successful. Bringing in guys like Ryan Walters has really kept this ship moving in the direction that he wants and I have confidence in him to replace coaches. That being said, really hope we can keep Skladany. -
As good as Arbuckle may look, the coaches talked to him extensively and brought him in but did not offer. Just something to keep in mind.

As far as moral victories go, last year against St. Louis was a pretty strong one as well. Another example of why moral victories are pointless if you don't get the results

We definitely have guys who can score. Great start to Alzee Williams' senior season.

Just tracking the game on my phone, but looks like we're doing okay. 38-48 at half is respectable.

Hanging tough. We looked good on the road against a good St. Louis squad too. Hope we can pull this one out.

So you're saying they're 0-3 in games where they're overmatched? Guess it's about to be 0-4 for them.

Let's do this guys. Turn a corner so I don't have to keep dogging Benford.

I hope they continually talk about their game with us on the ESPN broadcast on Wednesday.

He's still around? Good to hear!

Cuban was the main culprit for that mentality and it spread into the locker room IMO. That'd be like if Rick Villareal came in the locker room and started measuring the players' ring sizes. Mac and crew have the focus on the task at hand and they aren't letting distractions deter them. I agree that premature talks about these things can be dangerous, but let the OP have his question answered and discussed. And yes, that would be cool to play the movie and to get the rights to show the game at Apogee.

Don't worry, the players and the coaches are. And we will be there cheering our butts off so there's no harm in this thread or us fans looking ahead.

Jeffrey Wilson's recruitment by UNT
BillySee58 replied to jtm0097's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
With injuries this year to guys like Pegram and Rollins it shows that running backs get injured unfortunately and you have to be deep. Wilson is high up on my wish list and I really hope we get him. If we could get Wilson and then Rutherford and Goree from Carthage then we'd be set on skill players thanks to East Texas recruiting. Has Wilson said anything about when he's planning on committing? -
Non-conference losses really messed up those teams' rankings. Hard to move very high in the sunbelt if you already have 3 losses heading into conference.

Up for SportsdayHS hero of the week after recording 10 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. Give him a vote http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/high-schools/vote/?1384192746132 -
True! Almost forgot it was senior day! Very special senior class who will do anything and everything to win this game.

Never been more proud of Thompson...
BillySee58 replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. We shouldn't throw against the wall and chuck darts at him, but I feel that he's getting off the hook too easy. Every other aspect of our team is performing at a championship level and I think Thompson needs to step up as our qb and not be the weak link. That's all though. This conversation is for another thread. This thread is about the courageous block DT layed on a 320+ pounder. Championship level effort for sure.
