  1. Yup, exactly what got me thinking that. Watching the highlights I could find of him he does have a pretty slender frame. But he could still easily put on weight, but just by looking at him right now I don't think he'll ever get Marcus Smith big. But that's okay. When I think of what we could do with Rutherford I think of Cornelius Ingram, a receiver/tight end who played with Florida during the Tebow days. Ingram had a slender frame but he bulked up and became a matchup nightmare playing tight end. Ingram was a little bigger coming out of high school than Rutherford and he was an absolute natural pass-catcher. Ingram came into Florida under 210 lbs and played his junior and senior year in the high 230s. We wouldn't need Rutherford to be that good or big, but if we could get him in the high 210s and hopefully 220s he could add a similar wrinkle to our offense.
  2. The other catch is they can't be a full-time student, so they have to take less than 12 hours their first semester. Once they, or any student athlete or not, becomes a full-time student their 5-year eligibility clock begins, which includes one redshirt year. That much I am sure of. However, I'm not sure if they can enroll at the university that they are "grayshirting" at or if it has to be a community college. Either way, they also can't practice with the team. Once they join the team they have the 5 seasons to play in 4, they still get their redshirt.
  3. I asked that to big Dan either in this thread or another and he said Rutherford is a true receiver and doesn't have the frame. But who knows really? If we can bring in Goree and Rutherford then we can give Rutherford a redshirt year to work on his route running, get his grades in order, and put some weight on that 6'4" frame. Even if he doesn't grow as big as Marcus Smith, our TE who was a converted hs receiver, he could still put some weight on and get him going over the middle. A 6'4" 215 lb Rutherford going against linebackers and safeties could be fun to watch. For us
  4. O'Keeron Rutherford caught 3 touchdown passes in Carthage's 49-6 win over Mexia in the first round of the Texas 3A, Division 1 playoffs. Rutherford has now caught 12 touchdown passes on the year.
  5. Road game, home game. He said, she said. Nobody cares!
  6. No, you just get overly defensive on the board. Just letting you know we were playing them at a neutral site, because when most people say we're playing a team on the road that means we're playing them at their place. Thought you might've seen the white on our schedule for Columbia and thought it was over there. No smart aleckness intended, just perceived.
  7. Game finished 49-6 Carthage over Mexia. Carthage rolled out their second unit for basically the whole second half. Couldn't find stats for the game but O'keeron Rutherford, another wide receiver target of ours from Carthage, caught at least one touchdown. FWIW, Goree finished with 64 catches, 1265 yards, 22 receiving touchdowns, and 3 interceptions through the 10-game regular season schedule.
  8. We'll captain literal, since you want to be a smartass; we can't beat Columbia on the road, but hopefully we can beat them on the basketball court. And Portland isn't on the road, but there are roads in Portland.
  9. You're good and I agree.
  10. I was just responding to Andrew saying we're playing them on the road, since we're playing them in Portland
  11. We're playing them at a neutral site
  12. Scored one rushing touchdown, one receiving touchdown, and a two-point conversion in Elkhart's 47-14 first-round loss to Godley. Wilson also had a 72-yard scoop and score touchdown as a defensive player but it got called back on a holding call.
  13. Yup. But Carthage will play Navasota next week which is as tough a team as there is in all of 3A.
  14. As Vito says, Mac will usually say when an injury is one that'll be an out-for-the-year type injury, otherwise he keeps his lip tight. Hopefully that means Smith isn't done for the year, but indications weren't great on Saturday from what was said on here.
  15. If Smith is out then Kidsy will start along with Chancellor and Harris in the slot.
  16. Carthage up 49-0 on Mexia at halftime.
  17. Boise State Fresno State NT03 stole all the good ones
  18. Andrew, did you watch UNT basketball before last season?
  19. Please no moral victory garbage
  20. It is pretty comical seeing that zero of the five verbals pinned are actually playing for this team. Don't blame you at all for not wanting to keep up with that ridiculousness.
  21. He means calling him a guard is a joke.
  22. Yup. Byrd was our last high school early enrollee.
  23. Born in Tennessee and grew up in Texas so I was a huge football fan from an early age. Loved watching college football starting in the 2001 season when I was just 8 years old. Still one of my all-time favorite college football seasons with Eric Crouch winning the Heisman, watching Jason Witten go bonkers in Tennessee's bowl game against Michigan, Miami having the most dominant team in college football history that year (IMO), and watching UNT play in their first New Orleans bowl. I watched that game because UNT was close to where we live (Arlington) so I rooted for them. Bought NCAA game every year and UNT was always one of my favorite schools. Loved Booger, Awasom, Cobbs, J Thomas, Fitzgerald and others in that game. College time came and UNT gave me a great academic scholarship and was the perfect distance from home for me. I've loved every second of my two and a half years here in school, with my girlfriend, playing club baseball, and following our sports programs. I will have season tickets to football and basketball after I graduate and look forward to all the road trips watching the guys in green play.
  24. Yeah, the month or so in between fall and spring semester is sort of a gray area. Means and Fortenberry can start practicing since they'll be enrolled for classes in the spring and the practices will take place after the fall semester is over. But they can only practice with the team in Denton. They wouldn't be able to practice with the team at the official bowl practices at the site of the bowl. Alternatively, if you remember a couple years ago in basketball Chris Jones and Jordan Williams were ineligible for the spring semester but they were able to play the games over winter break because it technically wasn't during spring semester, when they were going to be ineligible. That's also when Tony Mitchell was able to start playing since it was no longer fall semester. I'm sure they'll get plenty of reps with the scout team. Especially for Means. Having early enrollees is great and I hope as our programs takes steps up that we get more of them and definitely more bowl games for that extra month of practice.
  25. It's true. And also, a couple guys can make their practice debuts with us. Connor Means, our qb recruit who is currently in high school, and Avery Fortenberry, younger brother of Aaron and who is currently grayshirting, will be able to participate in those practices.
