  1. DT finished the season with 2640 yards, 14 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. Last year he had 2629 yards, 14 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions. He did up his completion percentage a respectable amount, but stats were almost identical. However, we were able to improve from 4-8 to 8-4 with him as our qb. This thread isn't saying that we could've done this without DT or the improvement was all because of his play. Just showing that he proved we could win games with him, when myself and others said we couldn't win with him under center, and eating a little crow. Great season DT, great season mean green!
  2. Way to go Brandin and of course the blockers, not just o-line but them included for sure. Great accomplishment!
  3. You may be right, but you aren't supposed to say that on here apparently.
  4. Yup. This is good. Keep this up
  5. This thread is at least a week late
  6. Grayshirting means that they delay a player's involvement with the football team and his full-time enrollment in college for one semester. For example, if a player graduates high school in the spring, instead of accepting the scholarship and starting football and school in the immediate fall semester, he delays joining the team for one semester and joins the team the following spring. During the fall semester where he grayshirts he is not allowed to be a full-time student at any college and when he joins the team in the spring he still has 5 football seasons to play and participate in 4 (he still maintains his redshirt eligibility after he grayshirts). He also may count towards the next signing class rather than his original high school graduating class.
  7. We can sign up to 27 in this class, but we only have about 23-24 scholarships currently open. We should use all 27 this class in my opinion, since we will probably have kids either quit or transfer.
  8. DeSoto will take on Euless Trinity next Saturday, 4 pm at Allen Eagle Stadium for the 5A Division 1 region I championship and a chance to advance to the state semifinals. Carthage will take on West Orange-Stark, who squeaked by Jasper yesterday 18-16, next Friday, 7:30 pm at Beaumont ISD stadium for the 3A Division 1 region III championship and a chance to advance to the state semifinals. Congratulations to all our commits and their teams on great seasons, including Fonzale Davis whose high school career ended yesterday. Good luck to our players from DeSoto (Jon Graham and Shaq Jackson) and Carthage (Tee Goree and Okee Rutherford) as they make deep playoff runs. If you're going to have multiple commits from one school, that school might as well be making a deep run with your future players.
  9. Finished season with 77 catches, 1651 receiving yards, and 18 receiving tds.
  10. Fonzale had 9 catches for 230 yards and 2 scores, as was stated in his thread, but his team lost 46-64 to Wylie. Finished season with 77 catches, 1651 yards receiving, and 18 receiving tds.
  11. DeSoto beat Arlington Martin 56-34 and will take on Euless Trinity next week.
  12. Good question. I didn't see it live, just followed it on twitter. Both of Goree's tds were from 12 and 13 yards out iirc. Rutherford's td came from the two yard line. Just threw it up to the big guy at the goal line I'd assume. That's how we should use him here.
  13. They're blowing everyone out this playoffs just like Carthage, so it looks like they're on a collision course to meet Carthage in the region 3 finals. Should be a really good matchup and the first challenge for each of them.
  14. Carthage wins 49-6. Will face the winner of West Orange-Stark and Jasper next week in the fourth round next week.
  15. And we have plenty of spots left. A little momentum going into recruiting season wouldn't hurt.
  16. I wonder if we're still going to try and add Jeffrey Wilson, the running back from Elkhart. Playmakers galore from this class.
  17. We basically got the most dynamic playmakers in East Texas. What a haul
  18. Carthage leads Silsbee 28-0 with 9:53 left in the 2nd quarter. Tee Goree has 2 touchdown catches already. Edit: 42-0 Carthage with 7:56 left in the third. O'Keeron Rutherford caught the most recent touchdown for his first of the game. Big time red-zone target. Big time blowout.
  19. He does look big out there from what I've seen in highlights. I was just telling 90 because he likes to see measurable listings first hand before he believes them.
  20. People say things along those lines all the time. It's an inevitable argument that will always be made in recruiting. Stars matter vs. stars don't matter. Both as individuals and as classes as a whole. Those arguments go on without end and with examples for both cases. Headaches galore.
  21. Our promising recruiting class has some players whose teams are still making noise in the third round of the playoffs. Here's who is playing this weekend and when. DeSoto vs. Arlington Martin (5A division 1), 7:30 pm, Friday November 29th in Midlothian -Defensive Tackle Shaq Jackson is our only commit playing, since defensive end commit Johnavahm Graham broke his leg and has been out for the year since early on. South Oak Cliff vs. Wylie (4A division 1), 7:30 pm, Friday November 29th in Allen -Fonzale Davis, UNT commit and leading receiver in the DFW leads his team against Wylie in the Mecca of high school football stadiums. Carthage vs. Silsbee (3A division 1), 4 pm, Friday November 29th in Beaumont at Lamar University -Our two newest commits, receivers Tee Goree and Okeeron Rutherford take on a team they beat last year in the playoffs. If you're in any of the areas of these games and can get out and watch any of them, you'll really enjoy it. 3rd round of Texas high school playoff games is always a great environment. Go Mean Green commits!
  22. That's the thing, is being emotionally detached. I follow our recruiting very closely and post a lot in the recruiting forum. I've checked Connor's stats but haven't really posted them because they haven't been good. I felt like posting them would lead to this kind of talk and I didn't want that for your exact reason, but this thread is proof that people would notice it sooner or later. Players and parents read these threads, so we shouldn't say personal things or bash the kids as people and we should say as much positive as we can about their playing abilities. But when people say things negative about their playing ability it shouldn't be taken personally. Especially after bad games or bad personal performances, reading this thread by players or parents is just not a good idea if they tend to take criticism personally. As someone said earlier, Connor and his parents have watched him play this year and know his stats aren't great. If they come on here they aren't expecting us to ignore his year and pretend that he's been a first-team all-state 5A quarterback. You can't tell posters to go with the rainbows and unicorns approach only. We should respect, support, and cheer all players. Saying they aren't playing well isn't crossing the line. Saying they are bad kids or anything personal is. There's a line but it's my defined line. I have no family on the team. Just some close friends.
  23. That's a good ypc for a big running back.
  24. We're hardly the only forum that criticizes its players. Doesn't mean we don't appreciate the heck out of all of them. But in college football you aren't measured by your sacrifice, you're measured by your production.
  25. 90, he's listed at 6'0" 200lbs on his rivals profile and 6'1" 210 lbs on the school's roster.
