  1. That’s what I’m saying. We still might go 8-deep but that doesn’t mean it’s the same 8 that it is now had we used our scholarships better. Had we used our scholarships better, guys who are struggling with bigger roles might not have had to take on those bigger roles (Abou, Rubin, Bell). And Wright may have started but his field goal percentage was terrible and he often didn’t play starter minutes at Washington. Still thought he would at least be a rotational guy but that one I’m the least mad that one didn’t work out. At least it made sense.
  2. Maybe we’re still going 8 deep but that doesn’t mean it would be the same 8 if we recruited better. Or with better recruiting we could have kept guys in roles more similar to what they had last year. Abou and Rubin have struggled at times with their expanded roles against the higher end competition. Same for Thomas Bell offensively.
  3. Mccasland is a great coach but every season we just have so many wasted scholarships. We brought back Simmons for his 5th straight year of giving us nothing, then used our last three scholarships on Rasheed Browne, Hameir Wright, and Bryce Zephir who all don’t play. Just still haven’t seen the recruiting pick up like we would’ve thought given the on-court performance. The team we played today has signed legit established double digit scorers.
  4. He’s absolutely right
  5. The North Texas chant sucks 9/10 if we’re being honest
  6. Alley oop to Bell for his first made shot of conference play. Was 0-10 to start. Hope that gets him going, and hope we see his shots coming more off of assists than him creating on his own.
  7. He was 4-12 last game, which is really bad considering the quality of shots he takes. Abou, Bell, McBride, and Jones are all going to need to step it up offensively. None of them have been shooting the ball particularly well lately and that can’t happen again today.
  8. We can’t afford these incredibly inefficient Bell post ups today
  9. Maybe we can’t but I know someone who could.
  10. Don’t tempt me
  11. January 6th, a perfect day to overthrow UAB for the top spot in CUSA.
  12. Definitely. I would understand this kind of offer if it happened during the summer when there aren’t many options left and you need some more depth before the season starts, but it’s January. There is a surplus of players in the portal right now and there are high school players left with dried up offers. Hard to argue that the best value for our spots would be on these dudes who are backups at G5, FCS, and low-end P5s. Feels like we’re getting sucked into the trend while our roster is filled with quality underclassmen starters who we signed out of high school.
  13. They were essentially seniors this season who are choosing to take advantage of their extra season granted to them due to COVID. What’s muddled is how teams listed their players’ eligibility in 2021. Most teams rolled forward their players’ eligibility forward from 2020 on their roster, we chose not to. So it just looks like normal Junior returning for their senior season without context.
  14. The logic behind the extra COVID year is that everyone’s eligibility would be frozen in 20-21 and then resume like normal in 21-22. If you were a redshirt senior in 20-21 then you get to be a redshirt senior again in 21-22. If your eligibility would’ve expired last season had it been a normal year, your eligibility will expire after this season.
  15. I’m not talking about looks. I’m talking about them actually pulling the trigger.
  16. Yeah Southern Miss and the Marshall game (assuming that was going to be a return game there) both need to get filled. Hoping for WKU and MTSU. Sloppy toppers are past due for a ass kicking courtesy of us, and hope we can give one more to MTSU.
  17. No way. Can’t see that happening for two reasons. 1. For a medical redshirt you need to prove you missed two seasons due to injury. He has only missed one due to injury. 2. The season he missed was last season, when he was already a redshirt senior. He already got an extra season for last year. It doesn’t make sense for him to get two extra seasons for missing just one.
  18. We saw it again tonight (1/1/22 against Rice). Bell probably dribbled the ball more/had a higher usage rate tonight than in any game of his first two seasons here. 1 point on 0/7 from the field. If expanded-offensive-role Thomas Bell means him taking more shots, I’m okay with that. When it means him trying to be the one to create offense, that’s where it hurts us. Need efficiency from him against UAB on Thursday.
  19. No. He’s out of eligibility.
  20. McBride probably too
  21. Absolutely. Just saying even if an Littrell’s season caught the eye of an AD and they gave him excuses and reasons why the previous season records weren’t as good, donors wouldn’t.
  22. El Paso Eagle asks if Seth would still be considered a P5 coordinator if he hit the open market. Wag Tag shows his offensive production here last year when he was OC NT80 comes in by discrediting Seth’s aptitude as an overall HC, when Wag Tag was putting in perspective relevant material for his potential market as an OC.
  23. This is the hardest part to believe as realistic. Even if we won 9-11 games, P5 donors (who evaluate candidates much more surface level than ADs) would be scared off by his record the last 3 seasons.
  24. Before today I actually thought Rice was one of the few teams, outside of UAB/La Tech/WKU, that had enough firepower to score against our defense and keep up with us. Our defense and effort is so high-level that the majority of CUSA teams just don’t stand much of a chance against this team.
  25. Defense has been great, shooting has been so so. We are a really bad free-throw shooting team outside of Perry. Hope we can get a little more reliability there in conference play.
