  1. He has the most reported offers of any of our commits. He has 12 reported offers on the major recruiting websites, including schools like Houston and Nevada. He showed why with his play on the field. We've got these crazy good skill players, and having guys like Miles blocking should give them time and protection to make plays.
  2. Miles' senior highlights are on hudl now. Very impressive improvement from his junior highlights. There's a reason this kid has at least 12 scholarship offers. Even made some plays at d-tackle. Road grader, does a good job of finishing his blocks. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/327059/highlights/61602375
  3. Unsung hero, we definitely didn't give Marshall the attention he deserved. Great game Mike! Great game Brandin!
  4. Agree with everything you said. I just think that if ever there is a game where we need to take advantage of our athleticism, it is this one.
  5. This is spot on. All recruiting sites are guilty of this. For example, Willie Ivery, our newest commit, was rated an 87, almost a 4-star, on 247.com in the spring. His offer list doesn't grow very large or include any big schools and they drop him to 79, just below a 3-star. Who offers you matters more than who you play for, although both can play a factor. They just deny that the former matters.
  6. BYU is one of the best scoring teams in the country. Their junior guard Tyler Haws is basically what Jimmer Fredette was for them a few years ago, but Haws is 6'5". He was Fredette's wingman for Jimmer's junior year, then Haws went on a mission for two years so he wasn't able to help Jimmer out during his senior year. Haws is in his second year back from his mission and is averaging 23.7 point/game this year, and averaged 21.7 last year. They have a lot of guys who can knock down the three ball and a 6'10" freshman center who can score (13.4 points/game). If our zone is sloppy these guys will drill open threes on us all night. We match up well athletically, and we have to use that to our advantage.
  7. Tebow's the right comparison. They have the same delivery. Long windup throws where they bring the ball down by their waist before they let go. This long windup is influenced by having a pitching background and it makes it very hard to throw a tight spiral. The less tight your spiral is, the harder it is to project your throw where you want it and be accurate. Didn't prevent them from being productive in college.
  8. Believe me, I wish we didn't have to, to the extent some demand, either but we do.
  9. Most big-time football schools bring in multiple early enrollees, as they are called, each class. They do not have to pay their way for the first semester, since there is an early enrollment signing period.
  10. You're talking to a fan who has gotten blasted for things on the football forum much less than what you have said about a few recruits. Just making sure you are aware of the recruits and their parents reading this board. You're obviously a true fan, I just don't think Brandon would appreciate what you say about him on here. And he could very well read this board. I agree that JF Thomas will be more highly recruited because of his height. He almost certainly has the higher ceiling of the two, but Fonzale was the number one this year. Even if it was just because he has the experience. You saw them play live though, I just saw highlights and stats that blatantly show who was more productive. I like your "call them like you see them" posts and have even said I like that. Just think we all need to be careful with any negative or neutral comments about the kids who have threads on this board.
  11. 247 has a pretty sweet new feature. It's called class calculator, and it basically lets you add whoever you want to our recruiting class and shows you what that does to our recruiting class score/rank. For example, I added some of the guys who are committed but aren't listed as commits on 247 (couldn't add K Trevor Moore since he doesn't have a profile). http://northtexas.247sports.com/Season/2014-Football/Commits/Preview You can add whoever you want. Our top targets to see what our class score/ranking could look like, our add 5-stars. Cool feature, check it out.
  12. Is rice our competition for the HoD bowl?
  13. Thanks for keeping up with these stats!
  14. Absolutely, please do this. Great pub for our school in a season where we've season as much good pub as we have the last 9 years combined basically.
  15. Any football starved mean green fans won't be disappointed if they go out to Allen and watch that Trinity vs DeSoto game.
  16. It's Clayton, #73. I'm pretty sure his first name is Sean, but his last name is Clayton
  17. You got it. Although I would say Polk has the inside track over Brown at the moment. Polk has played very well at end. He will not be able to play a heavy percentage of downs due to his weight, but I think he has the inside track at starting. We also are looking at bringing in some JUCO d-lineman. Some ends and maybe Max Martial could compete for starting spots

  19. Defensive player of the year?
  20. That's why it's called a HIGHlight film. The players pick the plays and their coaches cut it up for them. Cooley, I respect your knowledge and your insight, but you've been trolling hard this recruiting year. You've been saying a lot of negative and very little positive. If we had half as many people in the recruiting forum as the football forum, you'd get blasted about saying negative things when recruits and their parents read these boards. You said there was no way South Oak Cliff would make any noise in the playoffs because of their ugly win against Mansfield Summit earlier in the year, yet they went 11-2 and made it to the third round. You also said Fonzale Davis was the 2nd best receiver on his team, yet he had over twice as many catches and over three times as many yards as JF Thomas, the guy you said was SOC's best receiver. You also said DeSoto didn't have the defense to make a deep run and they'd lose to a team like Coppell or Allen. Yet they're now 13-0 after beating Coppell. You don't have to say all these players are going to be future all-conference guys for us, but you also don't have to blast them and say things like "Can someone remind me why we offered Brandon Garner?" Again, the insight is appreciated, just be careful not to go to far when criticizing these kids.
  21. His last name is Clayton, and that's about all there is that can be found about him. Chad Davis has some speed, but he's probably going to be behind the same guys next year as he was this year, with Buyers, Jones, and Whitfield all back. Hope he pushes them in spring though.
  22. Yeah, they will provide solid depth at least. They're speedy guys who are built perfectly for special teams as well with their size and speed. I'm glad the days where half our recruiting classes or more transfer, quit, or never make it in. Marc's bringing them in, keeping them, and developing them. We're here for the long haul.
  23. Thank you. Then yes, should be tough to make either 1st or 2nd team in a 14-team conference. We should still be well represented though. CUSA coach of the year?
  24. I agree, it does. He sounds very passionate about football and committed from following him on twitter. He fits the mold of Mccarney outside linebackers. Think guys like Sed Ellis, Jamal Marshall, and even Will Wright who he did not recruit. Not huge linebackers, but sideline to sideline guys who can cover as well.
