  1. This is not a thread bashing Chico or the offense. Our recruiting class and their talents got me thinking. I thought the 5-wide set looked good earlier in the year and I'd like to see it in the bowl game. Also, with bringing in guys like Jalen Adams, Willy Ivery, Fonzale Davis, O'Keeron Rutherford, and Tee Goree I can't help but picture them all out on the field creating matchup nightmares. I know, none of them have signed yet, but it would be fun to watch. Will we see it in the bowl game? In upcoming years with our potential depth at receiver?
  2. You think so? I really don't know what it would take. Or it could be a situation where he fired a coordinator as a sacrificial lamb, like the BYU game this year. I'm sure if we beat them everyone would be calling for it.
  3. Yes, but that's because they play in conferences with multiple top 25 teams. It's either play a top 25 team during OOC, or we won't see one all year. I understand it's a lot easier said than done to get top 25 schools to come into Apogee, but for the schools that you mentioned they have chances to get statement wins in conference. With games that are scheduled by the conference, not the schools.
  4. I'd really like a home and home with Vandy
  5. Out of conference.
  6. Ryan has had a very impressive season. Dude is an unsung hero and really has played his butt off this year. It's unfortunate that we don't give him the full appreciation he deserves, but I know Orr and those linebackers appreciate your son to death.
  7. Spot on. Also, in the event that we keep Benford past next year, who on God's green earth has any idea what our roster will look like? We have 7 juniors and 3 seniors on this roster. At the rate Benford is losing his recruits there is no way to even begin to project who will be on the team in a couple of years. Having to rely on him getting his guys in here to fill up the roster is what concerns me the most.
  8. This. And honestly, good JUCO qbs are hard to come by. Especially since the few truly good ones (like Mettenberger and Cam Newton) go to the big schools before they look at us. Easier to get a good high school qb slipping through the cracks than a good JUCO qb who can come in and compete day 1.
  9. I've been wondering this too. I also think this may be the reason we never saw Berglund throw a pass. At least with Williams he has the redshirt excuse. If Berglund ever came out and started scrambling around and completing passes downfield how would he have justified keeping DT as the starter for the year? He's not redshirting, so there would be no excuse. And, like you said, how would he have been able to justify keeping DT as the starter if DW kept coming in and lighting it up?
  10. Wallace is already on campus and practicing with the team. Eligibility shouldn't be a problem. If Trevor Moore can be a reliable kicker for us and nail some deep ones that could help take our offense to the next level even more. Beating out Zach Paul will be no easy task though.
  11. The last three games and the first half of this one should've taught us at least one major thing. This team's talent, combined with this schedule will prevent this season from being an abysmal disaster, which is what it would take to get Benford fired. The second half should've taught you that we will not be consistently competitive with teams that are actually decent, like when conference play rolls around. Been said plenty of times on here, but Benford will be here for at least another year after this. It would take something like a 5-27 season for him to get fired, and we are already at 5 wins. Disappointing to watch some displays of our talent and realize this is "expected" of us to lose this badly
  12. That's because we scheduled cupcakes. BYU may be the best team we play all year. But this league that we play in will be a nightmare if this continues. Maybe we aren't down 40 late in the game, but we won't be competitive either.
  13. I thought you had turned the corner and given up your overly-apologetic excuses. Then we beat Portland, transitional D1 Incarnate Word, and SE LA.
  14. You could make a case that our top 5 recruits are all the skill players.
  15. With recruiting season soon to kick into gear, let's hear who your top 5 favorite recruits are so far. Promising start with some very impressive commits, hard to narrow it down to 5 and hard to pick who's number 1. My top 5 5. Andrew Jones - Has the potential to really help out our secondary in the future. Long, rangy cornerback with good recovery speed should make for some tight windows for qbs to have to fit it into. 4. Willy Ivery - Speed demon, could play as a true freshman especially in the return game. Will be very fun to watch when he gets in the open field. 3. Chris Miles - A lot of potential. Could compete for a spot next year after he redshirts and Y'Barbo, Lemon, and A Johnson graduate. Needs work cutting weight and with footwork, but he's big, strong and finishes his blocks. 2. Fonzale Davis - Another guy who could help replace Brelan in the return game. Dynamic playmaker, led DFW in receiving. Could play slot or outside, but he could be really dangerous in the slot. 1. Tee Goree - True outside receiver with height and speed. Also very polished for a high school receiver. Also just turned 17. Should be very fun to watch him develop and progress in college.
  16. Senior highlights. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/1389813/highlights/73556397

  18. Our next big step in recruiting could be to start locking up recruits earlier.
  19. I agree. That's what kind of scares me about some of the monster seasons that a few of our recruits have had. Just glad we capitalized on the field this year. The novelty of pitching to recruits that we are "on the rise" under a "new" coach would've worn off if we would've had another losing season. We've put ourselves in position to actually win some recruiting battles.
  20. Thanks. Sorry, I forgot to add that part in. It's a shame that guys like Fonzale Davis and Tee Goree, despite having breakout senior seasons and leading their respective areas in receiving, aren't likely to get a bump unless they were to commit to a big 5 conference school. Chris Miles deserves a bump to a 3-star as well. He had a very impressive senior season.
  21. He's number 3 on the list.
  22. We can sign 27. We may actually have 17 committed, if Avery Fortenberry is indeed grayshirting and joining the team on scholarship next semester. So 11, 10 if Fortenberry is grayshirting.
  23. Absolutely. We have a very legitimate shot at making another run at the conference title with Rice graduating a lot of seniors, Soza graduating from UTSA, and trading Tulane and Tulsa for UAB and Southern Miss. Should be a wide open division. A little late for scheduling a second FCS team though. Our non-conference slate is filled up.
  24. Absolutely agree. I hope we have the backups playing the entire 4th quarter. As for Texas, I want to be the straw that breaks the camel's back and get Mack Brown to "retire" after we beat them.
