  1. Devonte Fields actually grew up in Ft Worth, so he does pretty much count. Same with 4-star running back Kyle Hicks who just redshirted after recovering from knee surgery. I played with both of them at Arlington Martin.
  2. Looks like Syd Moore is doing great. If he can make an impact at d-tackle that would be very welcome, to say the least. For those that are hoping we could somehow pull another impact d-tackle either as a high schooler who could play right away or a JUCO guys, it's looking like the chances of that are slim. But Moore could be that guy, coming from in house.
  3. Akpunku and Hamilton were both class of 2008 at Cedar Hill, same class as Dunbar who was obviously from Halton. Hamilton took over at qb for Cedar Hill his senior year in the 2007 season after William Cole lead them to the state title in 06
  4. Awesome news! Two years in a row plucking someone from TS-SM. Check out his highlights. Good motor and plays with his hands well. Hopefully he can grow and be a 3-down defensive end. Looks like a guy who could help immediately on pass-rushing downs. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/529799/tillman-johnson
  5. Davis actually was our highest rated prospect according to 247. Tied with Fonzale Davis at a grade of 84. I really like Tillman Johnson's film, but he will be more of a pass-rushing specialist especially early on at 6'1" 225 lbs, and we have plenty of pass-rushing ends. If X really is 6'2.5" 249 lbs then he has the size to be a 3-down end which is what we really need. I hope we get both.
  6. Damn. Those were the two cornerbacks I wanted. Andrew Jones has a lot of promise and potential as well. Glad he's solid. We also are after a lot of cornerbacks in 2015 class. We've already offered 3 (Nafees Lyon, Josh Butler, and Nate Brooks). I also think if Fonzale Davis beats out Jalen Adams in the slot then Jalen should be given a look at cornerback. He has the fluidity to play cornerback.
  7. His cousin just said he'll take the visit to UNT. I doubt it's him who committed, but even if it is as long as he takes the visit we'll have a chance.
  8. Louisiana Tech 71 USM 80
  9. If we can get our talent to gel together and play sounds fundamentally we would easily be a top 4 team in this conference IMO. There really isn't a team that outclasses us talent wise.
  10. Louisiana Tech @ USM Two of the top teams in CUSA. La Tech could put themselves solidly in 1st with this win.
  11. They could do it where only the top seed gets a bye, so 14 teams play in the first round with 7 winners and the bye team advancing. Then it'd be a simple round of 8. Or they could give teams double byes.
  12. It'll be a dogfight between them and Marshall for the worst record in CUSA this year. A Bichon Frise fight to be more specific.
  13. Rice 41 Tulane 58
  14. ODU 65 FAU 60 ODU had a disappointing nonconference season but they are 3-0 in conference right now. Haven't beaten great conference teams but they were all road wins and they're one of only two undefeated teams in conference (La Tech).
  15. And just lost to UTSA last Saturday. A team that had 2 wins against D1 opponents coming into conference play. Consistency is very lacking, for almost all teams in this conference.
  16. Looking at how this conference season has gone it's really hard to call anyone a good team in this conference, outside of La Tech. Especially when you consider how some of these teams looked pretty pitiful in non-conference and are winning games.
  17. District 7-5A Honorable mention for Duncanville as a junior and seniorhttp://www.maxpreps.com/m/article.aspx?articleid=d3b003ab-82f9-de11-94b3-001cc494dda6
  18. Are we actually a good road team? Other than that second-half debacle at BYU we really haven't played bad in a true road game all year.
  19. Not fair! You can't change up what we're arguing about! You said "betcha Dajon is with the ones from the start of spring ball" then you say you're confident he'll be running with the ones consistently half way through spring. I disagreed with your first statement, but I completely agree with your second one. So what's your argument? That he'll be the first qb given a rep with the ones in spring or that he'll basically have the job locked up midway through spring?
  20. This is Clayton. Class of 2010, which would make him a redshirt senior if he enrolled in college the semester after he graduated high school. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/100061/sean-clayton I wonder if this is Rice. http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Sam-Rice-107155
  21. The question is would there be a stipend cap for P5 schools and if so, how much? Also, how would this affect other sports and their athletes? But yes good news.
  22. No, I agree. Same with the Dominique Ferguson kid that FIU signed 4 years ago. Although the Butler NBA players Hayward and Mack were not highly regarded recruits and I don't think they picked Butler over any P5 schools. Just checked and Hayward had a Purdue offer. If he would've gone to Purdue no way they make that first NC run or get the recruits that they have in subsequent years. It would mess things up majorly. This really just should not happen.
  23. As long as they don't take away the three point line and keep the scholarship max per team at 13 the non P5 schools will always have a chance in basketball . But yes, this greed is sickening and it would not be good for college football if this happened.
  24. He may very well take the reins early on, but when you are set to have a qb competition you give the first reps right out of the gate to the guy with seniority. If Dajon gets the first reps right off the bat, when they first start running plays w/o pads on and when they first start with pads on, then the coaches will basically be declaring Dajon as the starter and there wouldn't be much need for competition.
  25. Yeah, it'll probably be like the beginning of this fall camp. DT, Mcnulty, and Brock rotated with the 1's and 2's in that order and Dajon had the 3's. It'll probably be Mcnulty, Dajon, and Greer rotating with the 1's and 2's, in that order, and Means will have the 3's.
