Picked up a New Mexico offer. -
Right, but I'm just comparing tuition. Not the other expenses. And that $4702.60 is for 18 hours, one semester. The numbers I brought up were for a whole academic school year.
-
Is it just me, or is the big pitch on cheap education a little overblown? UNT: Tuition's about $8726 http://essc.unt.edu/saucs/UGRDDentonFall2013nonresshort.pdf Texas A&M: Tuition's about $9006 https://financialaid.tamu.edu/Cost/COA_Undergrad.aspx Texas Tech: Tuition's about $8956 http://www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool/funding/tuition.php Really not that much cheaper.

'15 JUCO WR Ricquan Southward (Arizona)
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
For some reason the Vimeo link isn't working. If you google his name and highlights they'll pop up. This is about the 8th receiver we have offered this class who is over 6 feet tall, including the 2nd JUCO receiver. We have 4 freshman receivers coming in for the fall, and 2 are outside receiver types (6'5" Rutherford and 6'2" Goree) while 2 are inside, slot receiver types (5'10" Adams and 5'10" Davis). In the recent post-spring depth chart that Vito got a hold of, our 2-deep at outside receiver consisted of two sub 6' receivers who came to this program as walkons in John Chelf and Skip Caldwell. Both have played well and earned scholarships, but both are seniors. 3 of our 4 outside receivers in the 2-deep are seniors. With those 3 graduating, our incoming guys being talented, yet unproven, and just a lack of depth, these offers make sense. Really puts into context how big signing those Carthage boys was, figuratively and literally. -
6'2" 190 lbs receiver from Arizona Western College, teammate of Paul Magloire. Looks like another JUCO player we offered in our recent swing through Arizona. Also another outside receiver offer. It's becoming pretty apparent that receiver (especially outside receiver) has become a priority this recruiting class, despite signing 4 receivers last class. Southward, originally from Lakeland, Florida, signed with Ohio State out of high school in 2012. Had 994 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns on 54 catches his senior season. Left Ohio State during his freshman season for personal reasons while he was redshirting. Can't find much on him since. We appear to be the first offer out to him since he's joined the JUCO, which may be because be hasn't played their yet. Also had offers from Miami (FL), where he was committed before Urban Meyer took the job at Ohio State and lured him there, as well as an Ole Miss offer. Paris JC center Nouhoum Bocoum to visit UNT
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Yeah, I knew about the tournament but I guess I didn't know that much about it. I didn't know that most players were lightly recruited, especially since Brooks was there, but as you said it wouldn't make much sense for guys with plenty of offers to be there. I saw there were a couple 7 footers. Just out of curiosity, did they stand out as players? Or we're they uncommitted for a reason? -
Picked up a navy offer

Paris JC center Nouhoum Bocoum to visit UNT
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The problem with the available big men is that they probably have multiple offers. Benford hasn't had much luck beating out schools for players, as evidenced by our 3 JUCO guard signees with no other offers. It's almost like he doesn't want to get into recruiting battles anymore. For Bocoum, he has just Eastern Michigan to compete with. As 03 reminded me, Benford was unable to outrecruit Eastern Michigan for Olalekan Ajayi last year. So we'll see how this last spot gets filled. And yes, thanks for the info. -
I would love to see that. No disrespect to the guys on the roster, but I see Goree being our first outside receiver off the bench from day 1, and being on the field when we go 4-wide. Can't wait to watch him play.
-
Yeah, I was surprised that he's able to do both. Crown jewel of our 2014 class IMO, and most people's.

Big get for Miami. Everyone wanted this kid, and Bama was pushing for him hard right there at the end. -
Paris JC center Nouhoum Bocoum to visit UNT
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
You said convincing Bocoum to walk on and giving the scholly would be a win-win for everyone. 03 said that walking on here while passing up a scholly at EMU wouldn't be much of a win for him. He basically politely said, you're crazy if you think we have a shot at getting Bocoum as a walkon. No one said anything about Bocoum being a better option than Brooks. You've also point blank asked 03 who he would prefer, and he told you he preferred Brooks. Read this Anyways, who knows if we even are close to getting Brooks anyways. Being pretty quiet on that front lately, so hard to tell if we still have a legit shot at him. -
Got his first rating on a recruiting site recently. Rated a 79, 2 star on 247. Just 1 point shy of being a 3 star, as 80 is good for a 3 star.
-
I think he has the speed and pursuit ability to play inside. Plus he's pretty good at play reading. An extra half step can equal out a 4.6 and a 4.8 guy. JMO. I don't think he's fast enough to play outside LB for us, but if he keeps his weight where it's at and focuses on speed and agility training he could stay at linebacker. And yes, we have offered.
-
I disagree. I think he's an MLB in college. But I definitely could see him growing into a DE. I would say keep this kid in the 230s and let him be a thumper up the middle. We could use a hitter like Holford in the middle, to go with our smaller, speedy guys on the outside. I talked about it in his thread.

Big, powerful kid who plays running back for Eastern Arizona College. Originally from Arkansas. Likely offered on our coaches recent swing through Arizona. Also holds offers from schools such as Louisville, Cal, Wisconsin, and Arizona although it appears they are recruiting him at linebacker. I don't think we've offered yet, but he's obviously on the coaches radar. I've said this time and time again, I really feel like we pull a JUCO safety this class. We have just Shilleci, Warner, and Kishawn McClain (incoming freshman) as non-senior, scholarship safeties on our 2014 roster.
-
Even if they just post the link, someone else can post it properly for them.
-
Just thought it might be a good idea to get a thread going for recruiting updates and info relayed from the twitterverse. This way you don't have to make a new thread everytime you see a tweet you want to post on here. If it's specific to a certain recruit, obviously the best place to post it would be their thread, but here's another option for that as well.
-
Here's my thread from when Scarlett committed. They hired one of his HS coaches, so his commitment likely would not have happened if not for that, a la Mitch Mustain and Gus Mahlzahn at Arkansas in 06. Scarlett has been visiting other schools but he has stuck around so far. Still early. Here's a little rundown (first comment) of all the other schools in our conference and their early commits. We are one of only 4 schools in our conference without a commit this far. 10 out of 14 schools, including Charlotte (2015 will be their first year in CUSA for football) all have at least one commit so far.

New Offer: OL Connor Williams from Coppell

Picked up an OU and Purdue offer. Texas showing interest. Really picking up. -
Very impressive athlete, with an equally impressive offer list. Plays qb but is being recruited by many as an athlete. MGB: UNT post-spring depth chart, thoughts

Dajon situation almost looks like an exact repeat of Berglund from last year.
