  1. Lol, I was working on this one while you were posting yours. I'm kind of slow at making mine. Like to watch the player's film first and dig up some info on him before finishing making the thread. Basically, that's apologist terms for "you were quicker than me."
  2. Great post. I agree, I think this year won't be that bad. Benford still has the last two, and most important JJ players outside of Tony Mitchell, that Benford inherited. Benford has had the luxury of inheriting a team of young stars. His first year was pretty much all JJ players and last year, despite only having 4 JJ signings on the team, they made up our top 3 scorers and scored over half of our team's points last year. What's going to happen when Benford doesn't just have to recruit role players anymore?
  3. 5'11" 162 lb athlete from La Grange. Helped lead the Leopards to a 13-1 season and an appearance in the 3A D1 state semifinals, where they were defeated by the Carthage Bulldogs, led by Mean Green signees Tee Goree and O'Keeron Rutherford. Hutchison is starting to see his recruiting pick up. In the last month he has collected his first offer, from Duke, and since been offered by Oregon State, New Mexico, SFA, Nevada, and now us. Hutchison rushed for 1044 yards and 13 scores on just 84 carries, and added 116 receiving yards and 2 scores, as well as a KR touchdown. Hutchison also played on defense, and could project to either side of the ball in college. 4. Right, that's what I'm getting at. In the article Vito says "UNT held on to a scholarship after signing day to add a player late." Key word was "a." Do we still have 1 more scholarship up his sleeve, for Olie if we could get him? By my count we should, but Vito has kept referring to it as a singular scholarship available for a late signee. 23 signees on signing day, plus this 1 should give us 1 left if we want. But if that's true, I'm curious why Vito hasn't said scholarships, and add a player, or two, late.
  5. Nope. He was coming in as a walkon.
  6. Still wondering what the scholarship per class situation is with us. Just when I think I know exactly how things work and what our situation of spots is available is like, I hear something conflicting. Anyways, this signing would give us 24 for the class of 2014, by my count. We had 15 high school kids, 2 JUCOs, 1 grayshirt, 1 FBS transfer, and 4 walkons put on scholarship who counted towards the class. That's 23, and Dash puts up at 24. But we kept hearing about this "extra scholarship" (singular) that Mac was holding in his pocket. You're allowed to sign 25 a class, so did he actually have 2 'ships in his pocket and use just 1?
  7. Just an example of how crazy early recruiting is, this kid has already decommitted from Miami. Still hope we're leading the race for his teammate Keenan Kelly.
  8. Edwards stats (20 tackles, 3 for loss, 0.5 sacks) are from North Dakota. He just recently transferred to Iowa Western CC. Here's a short article on our offer. Will have two years to play two (no redshirt eligibility remaining, will come in as a redshirt junior). http://memphis.247sports.com/Bolt/Iowa-Western-defenders-grab-offers-28500026
  9. 6'9" 350 lb offensive lineman from Coppell. We appear to be his first offer. Very limited highlights (1 play), so he may be entering his first year as a starter, which would also help explain why he's been lightly recruited to this point. Especially at a school like Coppell. Tremendous potential, clearly. 10. 6'2" 300 lb DT from Iowa Western CC. Originally from Wisconsin, played for North Dakota for a year where he redshirted. Had 20 tackles, 3 for loss, and 0.5 sacks last year. We are his first offer. 11. 6'3" 200 lb outside linebacker. 1st team all district 9-4A. Also holds offers from Illinois, Indiana, La Tech, Mississippi State, Tulsa, and SMU. Also played receiver, tallying 474 yards and 2 scores on 25 catches. Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3115966/justice-williams http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/189562/justice-williams http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=7016817 http://247sports.com/Player/Justice-Williams-36766 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Justice-Williams-156334
  12. Benford has really struggled with some young, promising players who were also very highly recruited. These guys haven't/didn't progress under Benford and some even regressed. And these were guys who we had to outrecruit some top programs to get. There's a reason 90 brings up the offer lists of Chris Jones, Jordan Williams, and Forrest Robinson so much. And that obviously doesn't even include Tony Mitchell. Benford is now bringing in multiple players with 0 other offers. These type of players need a good coaching staff to bring them along and develop them. If he's regressing guys with major conference offer lists and going under .500 in conference, what is going to happen with a team of guys with no other offers?

  14. 6'3" 185 lb athlete, plays quarterback for his school. Also holds offers from Louisiana Lafayette, Indiana, Houston, and Mcneese State. Not sure what position his offers are for, but he's not a bad looking qb prospect. I just don't know if we're going to go with a dual threat type this year. Especially with the type of guys we have at the top of the depth chart, as well as Caleb Chumley coming in, who will supposedly start off at qb. So who knows? 15. 5'10" 175 lb receiver from Garland Lakeview Centennial. Former SMU commit out of high school, appears to have had an offer from us as well. Had 12 catches for 202 yards and 2 scores against Blinn. Not sure about his season stats. We may be the first to offer him as a JUCO player. JUCO Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2721290/jarvis-baxter http://247sports.com/Player/Jarvis-Baxter-13645 http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=7736573 http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jarvis-Baxter-160498 High school Highlights: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OxrK9DcZ8kg http://www.hudl.com/athlete/626898/jarvis-baxter http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5502229 http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/138544/jarvis-baxter http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Jarvis-Baxter-127995 http://247sports.com/Player/Jarvis-Baxter-13645?Institution=21023
  16. Like I've said before, part of what makes him such a stud prospect is that he can legitimately project to multiple positions on the D1 level. That being said, at 5'11" 193 lbs I think his body type is best suited for maximizing his potential at safety. 5'11" means he'd be short for a receiver. He could play the slot and be a good one, but I feel like he could have a bigger impact on a game at safety, especially with us. If he were to go to a school like Tech, that might be a different story. That being said, I think slot receiver may be his second best position, behind safety. As for running back, again, he could be a good one there as well. I don't quite see his moves with the ball in his hands that would make him an elite running back, like I do with him at safety. A guy like Jeffery Wilson has that ability to plant and cut up field right off his blocks. Mccrary's exceptional speed, solid size, and strength alone could make him a good running back though. As for defense, I think he's a little on the stout side for a cornerback. Just like the other positions, he could be a good one there too. Corner is the hardest position on defense, maybe in all of football. When you're playing against the elite athletes on the outside, it's just hard to hold as much weight as Mccrary looks like he'll hold, under 6' tall, having to cover these guys every move. Why I like him at safety is because he just has a check in all the boxes. 5'11" 193 is a great size for safety, especially as a rising senior in high school. Big enough to play strong safety, but not too big where it may be a hindrance. Fast enough to cover all sorts of ground and be a ball-hawking free safety. Strong enough to lay licks in run support. Just has it all as a safety prospect IMO, where he could impact the game every down, against any type of team. Just my opinion. Looks like this'll be a tough pull anyways.
  17. Honestly, that kid scares me a lot more in the future than their 2014 qb signee Bogenschutz. What's weird to me is that they had just offered this Dormady kid. Not that they're going to get him. http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=7029660
  18. 6'4" 250 lb Coffeyville CC product. Teammate of DB Wesley Bailey (who we've offered). Originally from Wichita, KS. Had offers from Missouri State and South Dakota out of high school. Currently holds offers from Arkansas State, Charlotte, La Tech, FAU, Idaho, South Alabama, Troy, UAB, and now us. 19. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/908370/highlights If it's public online, it's legal as far as I know. As long as you're not giving us login info to watch private hudl videos, it should be legal. Same with info from pay sites on the major recruiting sites. If you have a subscription, you can't post pay articles on here for people who don't have one to see.

  21. Rivals shows an offer. But yeah, hard to confirm anything other than that we were recruiting him and may have been the only post we're going after, after Benford said he's going to get a center type for the roster.http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Nouhoum-Bocoum-156096
  22. Crazy. It'd be cool if he got an invite to The Opening in Oregon, but I don't think he has a good enough offer list. That could change soon, though.
  23. So this is why Benford signs all these kids with no other offers.
