Yes, we need more length on the outside, but we do need speed as well. We need guys who can win one on one matchups on the outside. Speed and length definitely help there. Who said anything about a sense of entitlement?

To add to that, players from top programs have also been exposed to top-notch weight programs and coaching. Some programs over here are as close to college level from a weight training and even coaching standpoint. The state of Texas is notorious nationwide for being a state where because of this emphasis on football, these kids are finished products by the time they get to college. Some people even believe that this is a major factor in the downfall of the Texas Longhorn program lately. They get these kids who have already plateaud before they get to college. While I don't believe this to be true for the whole state of Texas, I do believe it to be partially true with the top programs over here. I played for one, and in my two years of varsity football I played with 18 guys who ended up signing D1 scholarships. Those guys either cracked the depth chart early on after arriving at their college or really never ended up doing so. These schools like Allen and Southlake Carroll will absolutely maximize every bit of potential out of their players. Not to say they can't hit growth spurts in college or anything like that, but these kids from the top programs are as close to finished products as it comes. A lot of times it is a case of "what you see is what you get." That being said, I still say recruit the heck out of DeSoto.

Two teams who we kicked their tails in recruiting last year. Also was offered by Maryland.

Great job on these Brett! The one thing that's standing out to me is when these guys plan on making their decision. A lot of them plan on waiting until after their senior season is over. Between FBS transfers like Sam Rice, the Jackson twins, possibly Blake Bean, 3 grayshirts (Chumley, Shaq Jackson, and Jon Graham) all counting towards this class, as well as potentially getting a few JUCOs this class, there may not be many spots left in this class by the time these kids' senior season are over. Of course we'll have some spots left, and a few of these guys we'll make room for whenever they want to commit, but the spots will be more limited. Plenty of players who we offered early were no longer being recruited by us once their season was over. Then again, some of these kids may have a big senior season and get some bigger offers once it's over, like Xavier Washington. So it certainly can be a big gamble. That being said, I think we're set to have one of the busiest and most exciting summers we've had since early commitments has become the trend.

What stood out to me in your list, and 97and03 I believe brought it up before as well, was players from the 2012 signing class. Mac's first class where he was able to recruit them for the whole cycle is now made up of juniors and redshirt sophomores. This is a big year for a lot of them. We signed 22 high school kids that year, and 9 are no longer apart of this football team after just two seasons. Of the rest, only 1 has seen significant playing time in Carlos Harris. A few of the rest have yet to receive much playing time, but are in prime position to be in a rotation at least at their position this year. We really need these guys to step up for this year and going forward, as these guys will soon be counted on to be leaders if they aren't already.

The thing about him playing tight end for us is that he wouldn't need to go out for very many passes. If Chumley ends up moving to tight end, that's your passing threat at tight end for the future. This guy would be like Andrew Power or a taller Drew Miller, where you aren't asking much from them in the passing game. You wouldn't need him to do much more than catch wide open passes when the defense is sleeping on him and block. Plus, we could see the coaches trim him down a little bit and focus on his speed, while keeping his weight at a decent number so it could still be an advantage. The coaches got Reinhardt down from I believe the 280s when he came in down to the 250s. Could see something similar with this kid, if we're lucky enough to land him.

Back when he first committed to A&M I watched his sophomore highlights, since he was injured his junior year, and was very underwhelmed. It was all amazing rushing plays, but nothing of note passing the ball. Then his senior year he went out and completed just 47.5% of his passes. But yeah, he's a tremendous athlete. Not much to be scared of from his arm.

Where was Neal Burcham rated 5 stars? He made the elite 11 finals, so ESPN had to bump him to a 4, but everywhere else he was a 3 or 2 star. But yeah, they seemed pretty committed to him once Gilbert went down. I agree. I like our defense much better going against a pocket passer than a dual threat.

When he committed to A&M Johnny Manziel was an early enrollee, in his first semester at A&M after graduating high school a semester early and Sherman was still their coach. By the time he got to campus Johnny was the co #1 with current UTEP starting qb Jameil Showers. So no, his thought process in his commitment had nothing to do with associating Johnny Manziel and the Heisman trophy. He should be eligible, since he sat out last year. He was apparently going to go the JUCO route but I don't know where he ended up

Yup, and that's all Vito has been reporting as well. The numbers thing can be fluid, but I really don't quite understand what's so hard to figure out. We have 25 scholarships per class. 23 signees were announced on signing day, including the former walkons, and we just added 1 to that number. Still 1 short of 25. And it's not like our team is full on scholarships. That's where I could see the fluidity coming from. Saying, "oh we're full right now, but if a guy or two transfer then that would open up some spots." That's not the case, as far as I know, and we are not at our limit of 85 total or 25 for this class. Who knows? Not me, I guess.

They're a solid program. I have a lot of family in the SF Valley, and had a couple cousins play for Pierce a few years ago. There's some really good junior college football played in this country, in places like Kansas, Mississippi, and Texas. But I'm of the opinion that California has the best JUCO system for football. Not just stacked teams here and there, but stacked conferences.
