Yup. Which was an AQ conference.
-
Because those divisions have 11 game schedules. Which usually puts the champion at 15 games. Which is likely what the FBS champion will play this year. I know 12 game schedules and championship games are relatively new, but they are fixtures at this point. All the P5 conferences but the Big 12 have conf championship games, and they used to and likely will expand to 12 again soon to have one of their own again. More than 3 rounds would put the champion at 17 games played. That's just too much IMO and unnecessary. Again, that's my opinion.
-
But those teams weren't top 8. I agree. I think they should be in the top 8 if they go undefeated and beat two decent out of conference opponents. I think the system would potentially allow for that to happen (for undefeated, proven G5 teams to make it in the 8-team playoff). Also, the Louisville and WVU teams you mentioned we're in AQ conferences.
-
16 teams would mean a team would potentially have to play 17 games. Shouldn't be more than 15. 16 tops. I'm sure if it went to 8 they'd have something like they did with the BCS at the end where it gives a chance to the non power conference schools that go undefeated.

Lousiana Monroe has offered -
Brett Mcmurphy has us in the Bahamas Bowl against Ball State and Mark Schlabach has us in the New Mexico bowl against San Diego State. http://es.pn/1mlgyMa While it has become ridiculous how many bowl games there are, it is nice to see most people projecting us to go to a bowl game this season. Obviously projections and rankings have nothing to do with the outcome(s) on the field, but they do with perception.
-
6 with top two getting a bye or 8. Any higher than that is just ridiculous. If they want to do that then they need to part ways with the conference title games. Which is probably asking too much as big as these conferences have become.

Looks like Arkansas State has offered Holmes as well, per Vito's article on DHS teammate Judd Terry

MGB: UNT recruiting target series — Judd Terry
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Sounds like Brett's way of saying this kid is on commitment watch. Which makes sense, as long as the coaches will accept his commitment. Should be fun to watch how DHS does this year. These three guys plus a first-team all district qb coming back should translate on the field in high school play. -
Yeah, they did last year as well, but they have picked it up this year. We beat them out for Chris Miles and Fonzale Davis last year. Hope we tell them to back off our territory this year as well.

MGB: UNT recruiting target series — Jerbrell Lipscomb
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Yet another kid who plans on waiting out the process. Since our 2014 class now has 25 signees with the two recent JUCO additions (Dash and Denucci) we can't backcount any signees so we can only sign 25 in 2015. That includes our 3 grayshirts (Chumley, Jackson, and Graham), our FBS transfers, assuming they are coming in on scholarship (R Jackson, V Jackson, Sam Rice, and possibly Blake Bean), not to mention possibly a few walkons being put on scholarship counting towards this class (I believe Erick Evans and maybe more in the fall). We're looking at about 7 or more scholarships for this class being filled up, not including actual commits like Rodney Bendy and hopefully more to come soon. Going into the season with double digit commits coupled with the afore mentioned players would leave not that many spots left. Let's say we have 12 commits and 8 grayshirts/transfers/walkons put on scholarship. That's 20 of the spots taken up right there. We got about 5 commits during the season last year, and that'd be 25 right there. Not saying that's how it's going to happen. Just interesting to think about with looking at what will be a smaller class again. Should be really interesting to see how this class shapes up if we have a big summer. -
6'2" 287 lb guard from Sherman high school. Former Texas commit. Has offers from schools like USC, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Ole Miss but interestingly we are currently ahead of those schools and in his top 5, according to Rivals. We are listed in his top 5, as well as Auburn, Arizona State, Texas, and Texas Tech (Rivals not showing an offer from them). UT: The best-case quarterback scenario isn't happening
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I brought Dajon up not necessarily to say he should be the starter, but just to say that his ability gives us the best chance against Texas. Also to say that I don't see the whole bus-driver approach being enough to beat Texas. Like I, and GOMG2013 has concurred on, have said before, I don't think our staff would've ever started Johnny Manziel had they been the coaching staff at A&M in 2012. He didn't know the playbook as well as their other qbs and wasn't consistent enough in practice. Unless Dajon fully grasps the offense, it doesn't matter how good he is.- 55 replies

6'4" 272 lb offensive guard for one of the most stacked offensive lines in Texas and one of the best programs in the country. Played both right and left guard for Allen last year. We appear to be Wheeler's first offer. Great chance to watch him and his team take on Denton Guyer in our own Apogee stadium on August 29th. UT: The best-case quarterback scenario isn't happening
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I really don't care who it was against, he showed athleticism, ability to throw on the run, and zip on the ball that our other qbs don't have. Of course Texas won't be as easy Idaho, but the abilities Dajon has give us a chance to make plays and move the ball against a team like Texas. Also, before you bash Idaho too much don't forget that Mcnulty had a fumbled snap and a pick in the one series he was in that game. Not that he's a turnover machine or bad player, but let's not act like having a "bus-driver" type qb means no turnovers. I'm not even that concerned about taking big risks downfield. More the strength and accuracy to fit the ball in tight windows in the intermediate passing game. I think we can win plenty of games with Mcnulty or Greer and I don't think they're bad qbs, I just think with Texas being down right now this is a golden opportunity for a program defining win. I'd hate to see us not capitalize because we're overly conservative. Regardless of who the qb is.- 55 replies

UT: The best-case quarterback scenario isn't happening
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
As down as UT may be right now, I don't see this as a game where we can just not make mistakes and win. We're still going to need to make plays, especially in the passing game. Conservative playcalling against Texas will get us maybe 14 points scored by our offense. Maybe. Texas doesn't have a good enough offense to blow us out, IMO, but I still don't think 14 is enough to go down there and win. The throws that Dajon made against Idaho were what we'll need against UT. Getting out of the pocket and throwing darts on the run. His capabilities are why I want him. If it's Mcnulty or Greer, we'll need them to make plays too. I just don't like our chances if we're just going out and going "run-run-play action pass." Maybe that won't create a lot of turnovers, but it's also asking for 3 and outs and losing the battle for field position.- 55 replies
