http://m.newsok.com/guide-to-no.-3-westmoore-at-no.-9-edmond-santa-fe/article/5348053?custom_click=rss&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Going up against Dahu Green tonight, Louisville commit who is the top receiver in Oklahoma. Should be a good matchup. -
As long as we insist on playing a big program in a money/bodybag game every year, here's what I want our schedule to look like. - Away at top 25 school paying us big $ - Home and home with SMU or a similar school - Home and home with a winnable, lower-tier P5 (i.e. Iowa State, Kansas, Oregon State) - Home game against a team we should thrash. Either bottom of the barrel FBS or an FCS school. UNT90 brought up a really good point. We caught Idaho at a good time last year, with them being independent. Other than that, it's hard to avoid that game being against an FCS school, which isn't a problem.

That's the key. We NEED a quick start. The sooner we can make them one dimensional, the better. Their qb is average. Not the kind of qb you have much confidence in to lead a large comeback. As for our pass rush, I think we have a good pass rush. Truthfully, we'd have even more sacks but we haven't been consistent on bringing the qbs down and we've often over pursued after getting past the offensive line. Getting there hasn't really been a big issue. I have confidence in our pass rush, and making them rely on the pass as well as giving a lot of chances to let our pass rush have an effect would give us a great shot at getting this win. I don't think scoring points will be an issue.

Something really intriguing was that it looked like (hard to see for sure) Jeffery Wilson was number 1 on the depth chart on one of the white boards. He did start the last game he played (La Tech) and it'll be interesting to see if he starts when he comes back or if he's still to the point where he gets eased back into action. Also, may not be that big a deal but a comment I really liked was when Dajon was on the bench with some players after a drive, he said "I scanned the whole field." That was nice to hear, and hopefully he can keep that up. Good footwork, scans the field well, hid the screen well, stood down a defensive lineman against La Tech. He's not just an athlete with a big arm playing qb. He has done a lot of little things well and that's only going to get better as he gains experience.

'15 WR Emmanuel Moore (Justin Northwest)
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Matt Stepp works for rivals. Still an odd situation with no official confirmation. I put the rivals link in the OP last night. It has him listed as a commit but again, Matt Stepp (the guy who tweeted that) works for The Old Coach (a subsite on rivals). But at the same time he likely would not have listed Moore as a commit if he wasn't confident. We'll see, but it looks like Vito is having some trouble getting a hold of Moore. -
6'3" 235 lb defensive lineman from University Lab School in Baton Rouge, LA. Same school as 2017 phenom Dylan Moses and Les Miles' son. Transferred from Madison Prep Academy. Also plays tight end, and maybe is being recruited as a tight end. We have offered. '15 WR Emmanuel Moore (Justin Northwest)
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
We offered him in the spring. He had over 1000 yards as a junior and has 8 touchdowns receiving through 4 games this year. It's extremely unlikely that he wouldn't at least wait out the process and see if anyone offers before signing day. -

Yeah, I looked at Vito's twitter page to get caught up on the articles I missed from yesterday and saw him trying to contact Moore. I think we're his only offer, so I don't know if that was a mistake by Stepp or if he did commit. Still doesn't have any recruiting profiles that I can see. -
UCF one of many looking for a home game in 2015

UCF one of many looking for a home game in 2015
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
How about we bring in a competitive FCS opponent? Texas Southern and Nicholls State are cupcakes, even by FCS standards. How about bringing in North Dakota State? On a serious note, maybe Sam Houston or SFA? I would prefer a lower level FBS school like a bottom tier sunbelt or bottom tier MAC school, but I'm not sure that would happen and most already have their 2015 schedules filled. Whatever happens with our last game in 2015, we can't schedule another home and home. The Army series isn't bad, but it's at least two games too long. We can't set up an more home and homes until after 2021. As long as we play at least paycheck game a year, we can't have 3 home and homes. That would create 5-game home schedules.- 39 replies

Pretty different, but for some reason that's a pretty common misconception. People often refer to Brelan and Byrd as a package deal, but a package deal implies that you take one guy in order to get another. Basically, you think a guy is worth two scholarships. There was no package deal with Byrd and Chancellor because neither had any other offers. We never had to take one to get the other. We could've gotten either by themselves, but we wanted both. As for Rutherford and Goree, I think Rutherford was a take even without Goree. Rutherford did have another offer (ULM) and would've had more if it wasn't for grade issues. He double signed with Kilgore because he was borderline on whether or not he would get in. But he is very raw and I think he was always intended to be a redshirt.

Committed to Texas Tech -
We have 3 interior offensive linemen committed. One of which has been told he may play center or guard (Cody Wheeler - Allen) and a guy who will most likely be a center (Creighton Barr - FM Marcus). With not a lot of spots left, Jackson most likely missed the boat.

You're the hero we need, but not the one we deserve.

I agree. That's what I saw as well. As for Goree, I have a really hard time believing that he wouldn't make an impact on this team. At the same time, with the way the passing game was looking through the first three games I was thinking that it'd probably be best to just redshirt him. With Dajon in the mix now, I'm not sure. With 4 of our top 7 receivers being seniors (Terrell, Caldwell, Chelf, Teagarden) a redshirt makes sense. But can Tee bring something that those guys don't? Other than Terrell, he at least has the height advantage on those guys.

'15 JUCO DB Zavian Bingham (Mississippi)
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He's going to have a great shot at starting next year. Great that he's enrolling in January. I still have the feeling that Buyers is going to move to free safety and Bingham will compete with Whitfield and Chad Davis for those two open CB spots. -
Yeah, I agree. I've had my eye on ODU on the field and in recruiting over the last two years. They're going to have another great shot at impressing on Friday against MTSU. We'll see if they can keep it up two games in a row against two CUSA bowl teams from last year. As much as I'd love to comment on our chances against Indiana, going to save it for the cover 2.

So Even Assuming that Nicholls=Washington Generals
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I too like these games. My ideal non-conference schedule is 1 gimme, 1 paycheck/bodybag game, 1 G5 home and home (love the SMU series), and 1 at least semi-beatable P5 home and home (i.e. Texas Tech/Iowa State/Oregon State/Vandy etc). If one day we ever became a big enough program to not need a body-bag game then I'd like another gimme as well, like the schools you mentioned. -
Even on here, criticism can be tricky. All football players should know that any criticism publicly broadcast, behind closed doors, wherever, is not intended to be a personal shot at them. Just their football play. Thing is, they are football players. It is often the biggest part of their identity and who they are. Criticizing them as football players may not be intended to be a shot at them personally, but I've felt what it's like to have someone criticize my play in high school on Facebook. And it's essentially impossible to not take it personally. It is unfortunate that he couldn't bring himself to cheer for the rest of the team, but I can't imagine going through that situation.
-
I'm still unsure on Rice this year. I think they'll be good, but I just don't see them being as good as last year. As for ODU, they have the second best qb in this conference (although WKU's qb Doughty is making a case this year) and their recruiting backyard is one of the top per-capita recruiting areas in the country (Chesapeake/Virginia Beach), and it doesn't have the traffic that bigger recruiting hubs like DFW have. They're also very committed to athletics as a school. I expect big things from them as a football program.

http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2014/09/sunday-leftovers-football-thoughts-recruiting-tidbits.html/ Visited this weekend. Pulling this guy would really be a good one. Add Cheatum, Sam Miller, Wegmann, maybe a true nose (like Saluone out of Utah?), and the grayshirts Shaq Jackson and Jon Graham and we have a really nice haul of guys to develop behind a solid, young d-line. -
