Thanks for leaving the door open! And glad to know you’re cool with editing other people’s posts in quote replies now. The “FIFY” is back!
-
Look, it’s Mccasland or Benford. There are no in betweens in potential outcomes here.
-
No, he really did mean Brint Ryan there. He hasn’t done it lately but his last activity on Twitter was exactly what texx is describing. It’s somewhat accurate in describing Lovelace as well but lacking without mentioning the racist remarks. And I thought you didn’t like people altering your posts with the “FIFY” style edits in quote replies.

And the first account reporting the Mccasland traction at SMU rumor has already started to walk it back some

Jace Ruder taking lead so far this spring

Did you watch any games of Mason in person? -
Unbelievably based

Objectively speaking, I wonder how Mccasland’s JUCO recruiting approach would mesh with SMU. Unfamiliar fans would most likely start freaking out when the hotshot new coach starts bringing in unheralded JUCOs when they were expecting high-end 3 star HS recruits and High Major portal transfers.

Any chance Jamiah Simmons can get a medical redshirt?
BillySee58 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Basketball
He actually has not taken a medical redshirt yet. 16-17: Played 29 games Freshman season at Arkansas State. 17-18: Took a redshirt here while sitting out due to transfer rules at the time. 18-19: Played 30 games as a redshirt sophomore. 19-20: Played 27 games as a redshirt junior. 20-21: Missed the entire redshirt senior season due to injury but everyone’s eligibility was frozen anyways so no hardship waiver needed to be applied to get another season. 21-22: Played 9 games as a redshirt senior before going down for the year. He could make a case because he played in 28% of our games (below the defined 30% threshold). The thing is, you’re supposed to be able to claim two seasons lost due to injury. Not sure he can double dip on last season and count it towards a season lost to injury when the season never counted towards his eligibility to begin with. Also saw Jareem trying to get him accounting internships for him so I think he already is looking towards starting his profession. -
What a great season to watch. Program is in great shape.

If we can get this Ousmane with some consistency next year that should be a huge building block to taking a step forward offensively.

Your ability to misspell everyone on the roster’s name is remarkable.

Unfortunately it’s just much harder to see for college basketball. D1Docket does a good job of compiling agreed non-con games into a spreadsheet but they only have this season. We have a home and home with Nevada set to be a return game next season but the original game scheduled for Denton this fall got cancelled. Not sure if they do Denton next fall or the fall after. Would think we’ll still go to UTA. And we go down to the wire every year with releasing our non-con schedule. https://d1docket.blogspot.com/?m=1

Yeah have to think of all the previous national champions we have hosted, their national championship will have been the most recent by several decades. UTEP was 66 and San Francisco was 56, and obviously Virginia was 2019. Not sure who else we have hosted who has won a NCAA Men’s basketball national title.

That game last night was so fun
-
School record 25 wins.
-
That was awesome to be at
-
What does getting over the hump mean? Winning a national championship? Yeah, probably not. We won a tournament game last year. Really not much more of a realistic hump for a CUSA team to get over.
-
If only you were allowed to recruit well AND coach well
-
It would. What would be REALLLLY old Denton is if we went into this offseason and just kind of landed the same sort of unheralded JUCO recruits instead of upping the talent level on the roster. “It worked this year, why change the formula?” While ignoring the problems the relative talent level disadvantage we have been at compared to the top teams. But hey, 24 wins is something. Definitely on the border of “can’t complain” and “but only if we could get a little more talent to take another step forward.”

Oh right, good call.

I wonder how many National Championship winning programs we have hosted at the Super Pit. UTEP obviously, but not sure outside of that. Virginia would certainly be the most recent National Championship winner (2019) we have hosted by decades. Also, Virginia will host that game against Mississippi State, as mentioned on the NIT selection show.
-
They certainly have a better roster. We have a better coach.

The modern day recruiting game completely passed him by. He never adjusted to the new school way recruiting works. It might be hard but Johnny Jones had some really good recruiting classes here, especially in 2011. You win this much there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to convince top recruits to come here. Mccasland has had a ton of success with the overlooked JUCO players who come in with a clear amount to prove. He has not had as much success with high-ranked high school players, or with transfers. He is getting the toughness from the JUCO ranks. Would love to see him able to supplement that toughness with some more talent from the HS ranks and the portal. 3 straight CUSA championships is certainly enough ammo for a good recruiting staff. Time for them to show they can be a good recruiting staff to take the next step forward.
