  1. This is the reason we had to count Buyers, Macek, Kirby, and Skip Caldwell towards our 2014 class. By this rule we should've had to count Andy Flusche, Sheldon Wade, Erick Evans, Eric Keena, and I believe Michael Banogu towards our 2015 class. However, we didn't and we were able to sign 25 high school and JUCO players. I don't know if there was a rule change or what, but those guys I mentioned only spent 1 season on the team as walkons before being put on scholarship, yet still were not counted towards our class. I would imagine that will be the case with Fernandes, Bean, and Rice.
  2. His daughter lives in Austin according to this article, fwiw.http://ntdaily.com/new-starting-quarterback-adjusts-to-changes/ It'll be interesting to see how this spring game performance affects his spot on the depth chart. We were told only two current QBs, along with Smith, will receive first-team reps in the fall. Is Greer still that second guy or does the staff bump Dajon back up from 4th to 2nd? That would be a major move, especially considering what staff we're dealing with. Just have to hope Dajon takes care of his end from now until fall.
  3. In our case this emphasis on the hurry-up and spread is new. We have been a heavy under-center offense to this point with Mccarney. He wants TL stay under center and pound the ball. But it looks like we're trying to change things up. Our offense has not been our strength and it might need to be this year.
  4. Good to hear. I really like what we have going in our Oklahoma recruiting
  5. If I had to say we signed anyone instead of Bogenschutz that class, I would say it was Connor Means, considering they were both high school seniors while Greer was a JUCO transfer. The early returns on Means have been underwhelming, especially considering this was already his second spring and he still was 4th, until Dajon was put behind him as punishment (motivation?). We recruited him but we passed. We have offered 1 QB in the last 4 recruiting cycles who was under 6'3", and that was JT Barrett who signed with Ohio State. Mccarney wants tall QBs and Bogenschutz did not fit that mold. And yes, UTSA offered and recruited Goree.
  6. Note, his last name is spelled "Fernandes" with an "s" at the end, rather than a "z". No one offered.http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Cedric-Fernandes-149400 http://www.scout.com/player/6858767n-cedric-fernandes
  7. Scholarship walkons and the new play-by-play man.
  8. Mississippi State offers
  9. Yes, and I would even argue that the competition not stepping up is not as big an issue as the potential fact that we haven't brought in the QBs we need to have a legitimate D1-level QB competition.
  10. Mcnulty is legitimately our best option. He's not starting because of any other reason than that. But that's what our problem is. Andrew Mcnulty is head and shoulders above the rest of our competition. And I'm someone who thinks pretty highly (comparably speaking). The rest of our guys have not been able to pass anyone up, or even push Mcnulty. The real problem is once you get past Mcnulty.
  11. We've heard all along that the QB competition will be cut to two before fall, allowing Damarcus Smith a chance to compete. Looks like that means Dajon has been eliminated, and Means has been eliminated for some time now. It wouldn't surprise me if they eliminate Greer right off the bat to get max reps for Mcnulty and Smith.
  12. I still think it'll be Tillman and Combs by the time the season starts. D-end is one of our deepest positions.
  13. Shootout to my high school teammate, intramural teammate, and the center who took over for me after I graduated being the starting deep snapper. Watch out for those Arlington Martin walkons. This post has been promoted to an article

  15. Yes, but Emmitt didn't know what specific tweet meangreen13 was referencing

  17. I agree with most of the guys said. I would add Chad Davis and Darvin Kidsy to the mix as well. I also really like McClain's talents, and his combination of size and athleticism could make him a really good safety. I think if/once Xavier Grindle gets here in the fall he will be the most athletic player on defense. Dude has crazy athleticism.
