Flannigan was taller, more athletic, and wasn't as much of a liability on the defensive end as Ahmed. Ahmed may have had more points/40 minutes but Flannigan shot over 50% from the field while Ahmed was under 36%, like I said. You're right that neither added much, but it was pretty clear Flannigan was the one trusted more, especially as the year went along.

MGB: UNT has added forward Mike Thomas
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Rivals had Chris Jones as a 3-star and listed offers from schools like Colorado, Houston, SMU, TCU, and others. ESPN is not a credible basketball recruiting site outside of the top 150-200 kids in the country. -

Well, obviously Dajon Williams is no longer on the roster anymore. Nor is Aderius Epps. Shoutout to @NT03 for on alerting me about that one. -
There are reasons why he didn't live up to the hype or get many minutes. 1. The hype was all internally facilitated. He wasn't highly ranked or recruited (he claimed offers but they weren't listed anywhere so hard to confirm the legitimacy). Benford hypes up all his signees, so if you listen to him you'll feel like all of these guys are highly touted. 2. He didn't play a lot of minutes because he wasn't that good. Whenever he scored it was usually because he was gunning (shot under 36% from the field), and he wasn't that athletic or big. Also, David Anwar's JUCO recruits: Keith Coleman, Armani Flannigan, and Muhammad Ahmed.

Richard Lagow back in play at North Texas?
BillySee58 replied to All About UNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He appears to be very well connected with other college football players. If he's coming over here then there's a good chance he's very interested in coming. Could become more of a matter of if we offer or not, based on the fact that most schools recruiting him are FCS. If we get him then he'd be help out the future of our QB position more than this year. Especially considering what our situation is looking like with our young guys.- 21 replies

If he's going to be a bench warmer for those schools then it's not like he's going to be the guy to come in and make us a top-of-the-conference team. The 01-02 Cleveland Cavaliers were not one Mark Madsen away from being contenders. The 08-09 Minnesota Timberwolves were not a Luke Walton away from being a contender. If we're not good this year, and Willy Kouassi is averaging 3 or 4 minutes a game for one of those teams, then him not choosing us won't have been the problem.

Wow! We need to offer this RB, ULM did
BillySee58 replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
If our coaching staff doesn't know about this kid yet then we have a lot bigger issues with recruiting than just needing to tip them off about him. I believe he's the leading returning rusher in the area. -
Richard Lagow back in play at North Texas?
BillySee58 replied to All About UNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Well, I'm not sure about programs, plural. UCONN was his only offer. ESPN listed an offer from us but I'm not sure we ever offered. All the other sites said we just had interest but never offered. He walked on at Oklahoma State. Either way he'd be an okay pickup.- 21 replies

Dajon committed in late June. By modern day recruiting standards, especially with QBs, that is not early at all. Not really all that late, but definitely not early. The primary evaluation period (where the majority of offers come out) occurs right after signing day ends, with the offers starting to trickle out in February and March, but with a lot coming out from April through June. Dajon made it the whole evaluation process, with colleges having plenty of chances to see him and evaluate him. The date of his commitment is not what kept his offer list from being extensive, and that goes for pretty much any kid who commits in June or later. That's an early commitment for our standards, but not much of a heavy time for additional offers to start coming in.

I would say Tee Goree, although we didn't offer that early. We offered in September of his senior year, which is fairly late in modern day recruiting. He committed in November and apparently was offered by Arkansas a month and a half later but stayed. As someone else said, any kids we have who bloom late and become P5 prospects are not that likely to stay even if they are committed. Also, because so many offers come out before, during, and shortly after kids' junior years, there aren't as many P5 offers going out during our after a kids' senior year. At least not nearly as many as they used to be.

I could see him going JUCO. He's still eligible to play JUCO ball as a redshirt sophomore, and it'd give him a good chance to get showcased. As it is we were the only FBS school who offered him, so I'm not sure if schools who didn't recruit him then would be willing to offer now, without watching him play a full season (i.e. at a JUCO).
-
I was before, but now I'm definitely concerned greatly about the future of our QB position. We still haven't offered a 2016 QB this entire cycle, Mcnulty is a senior and D Smith is a Junior, and Caleb Chumley is just not likely going to be a QB long-term. And still no shot for Dillman. A lot of pressure riding on Means long-term. Smith really better be the real deal, but even if he is he only has two years left.

His verbalcommits profile doesn't list any offers, and they usually do a really good job tracking offers. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/khalil-fuller

That fills us up on scholarships. Unless we drop someone.
