****OFFICIAL UNT VS. UTEP IN-GAME DISCUSSION***

Looked like a solid team tonight. No reason we can’t give SMU a good game next week. -
****OFFICIAL UNT VS. UTEP IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Correct. There isn’t a single player in the secondary who has shown to be a good FBS-level player in their 6-year careers. Very disappointing to see those same guys rolling out there and just kind of looking not good enough. Gaddie seems the closest. -
Just let me get my fudged nickname explanation off
-
Should be a depth add. Has added a lot of size since joining college. Hope he can be a late bloomer.
-
I just call him The Trieb Trunk because he’s built like one and can be the foundation of our defense.
-
For sure, but I was just putting it in perspective of our d-line relative size. Person I was responding to mentioned him in the context of being undersized, so for reference I compared him to the player who manned his position last year. The nice thing about Trieb is that his performance from day 1 since he stepped on campus has had him as a pencilled in starter every step of the way. That’s impressive on its own.
-
Trieb is replacing Grayson Murphy at DE. Big bump in size there.

This is the preseason depth chart shown on page 9 of the UNT Football Media Almanac, AKA Facts and Records Book. Not sure how updated it is but helps put players to specific positions in our offensive and defensive schemes. https://meangreensports.com/services/download_file.ashx?file_location=https://s3.amazonaws.com/meangreensports.com/documents/2022/8/11/2022_UNT_Football_Media_Almanac.pdf

I stand corrected. None of the articles I could find indicated that he had finished his degree. Good find.
-
That’s exactly what I’m saying. Just that it appears the NCAA is making anyone who transfers a second time have to apply for a waiver, even if they sat out the first transfer. Which is why Gunnell even needed a waiver in the first place.
-
He does not appear to have graduated from Memphis. Also, based on the NCAA one-time transfer FAQs, being a graduate transfer doesn’t provide for an additional one-time sit out free transfer by itself. “Grad transfer” is pretty much a thing of the past. It’s either a guy using his first one-time sit out free transfer, or a the guy has to sit out a season unless a waiver is granted. We’ll see in time if the NCAA sets a precedent for allowing grad transfers to have a second transfer without sitting out. My guess from what I have read is that anyone transferring a second time has to apply for a waiver, which included Gunnell. But because he did sit out after the first one, even though it was due to injury, he was just about a sure thing to get the waiver. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/eligibility_center/Transfer/OneTime_Transfer.pdf
-
Getting talked about but nothing in effect officially.
-
There has been some talk due to him already transferring once. It seems the coaches are operating that he will be eligible, since he redshirted last year, therefore did not exhaust his one-time sit out free transfer.

Gonna go out on a limb and assume the statement referred to by OP was not derived from this one clip.

Seeing a lot of offers to no rating players
BillySee58 replied to southsideguy's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
We have also had cases where guys are un-rated, and as soon as they actually get an evaluation to be rated, they end up shooting towards the top rating among our commitment list. Dillion Williams was a semi-recent example there. Point is, unrated doesn’t mean the player is below being worthy of a rating. It just means exactly what it says. He has not yet been rated. -

Seeing a lot of offers to no rating players
BillySee58 replied to southsideguy's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Not much data backing this claim. No rating doesn’t mean the player isn’t worthy of a rating, or that he has been rated below 2-stars. It just means the ratings sites haven’t assigned a rating to the player yet. Which is pretty common for players who are just receiving FCS and lower G5 offers. And every year at this time our offer list has a chunk of guys who aren’t rated. 247 does not assign a player with a composite rating until they themselves have assigned a rating to that player. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Season/2023-Football/Offers/ -
I’m not 100% sure, but I think those quotes from Littrell aren’t new ones. They’re more from the spring and summer caravan when people have asked. Answer has always been something along the lines of “he’s the starter until someone comes and knocks him off.” Ppint being, not like Aune has been officially declared the game 1 starter, as likely as that seems.
