  1. A diamond in the rough? So Guyer is a rough? Are you kidding? Guyer is more like a gold mine. Jeffery Wilson is a diamond in the rough, coming from Elkhart, Texas, a place which rarely produces D1 football players. Calling a school that averages over 5 D1 signees a year a rough? He hasn't produced yet so there's no proof their evaluation of him was a good one. I'm not a big fan of this coaching staff, but I'll at least be consistent in my criticism. I don't like seeing them fill up with classes full of guys with little to no other offers. The players with better offer listed have panned out at a much higher rate and have been our all-conference players.
  2. 1. This staff is set on not taking a high school QB this class. I think that's absolutely terrible roster management, considering our 2 underclassmen QBs are long shots to even be decent D1 QBs, and we won't give Dillman a shot. Roster management like that is why we've had to sign JUCO QBs in 4 out of 5 classes under Mccarney. 2. I don't see us being able to hold off Oklahoma State had we offered first. Regardless of what he may have said, when actual good recruiters start laying down the hot sauce, not to mention the track record of QB development by their staff and our staff, I just think there's no way. 3. Not in direct response to GMG24, but people will always complain about which local kids we don't recruit. I don't care as long as we're winning recruiting battles and getting high-caliber recruits. I do careore when we aren't, which we aren't. He has to actually do well before we can complain about our staff not getting him. While that's true for anyone, it's especially true for a guy nearly everyone passed on. Any player with little to no offers playing, and getting opportunities, at a program with the exposure of Guyer is a player I won't get upset at the staff for not pursuing, unless he proves to be a good D1 player. In which case they didn't see the late bloomer potential another staff did.
  3. The thing is our defense is probably closer to our 2012 defense than our 2013 defense, based on experience, offer lists, and production heading into the season. DT had almost identical stats his senior year prior to the bowl than his junior year, so I don't think that type of season would be enough from Mcnulty. Also, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion Mcnulty starts against SMU. Dajon as a true freshman almost beat out Thompson when he was a senior. Smith is currently 4 years older than Dajon when that was going on. He's also been here for months, even though he wasn't eligible to actually practice, so it's not out of the question at all.
  4. Committed to Iowa State
  5. I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the $1.7 million dollars we're making off of just two road games.
  6. Yes, there was nothing on this profile before yesterday, other than a 5'8" 150 lb listing and his highlights. No rating or college offers/interests. Meangreen15 posts this, Vito comes out with a "breaking news story" on a 15 day-old tweet of the commitment, then Vito tells Perroni of 247. Then Perroni updates his page with the info Vito gave him, slaps a rating on him, and the mobile page takes a bit to update. Anyways, good pickup at this point. These little guys are usually a dime a dozen, but if they're good they can make a big impact (Chancellor, Harris) so I like taking a guy like this a class or every other class. Looks pretty good, and great production.
  7. It's showing up on mobile now. It wasn't yesterday, and GMG24 and I weren't the only ones having that problem. That's because this kid's profile was barren yesterday before Vito told Perroni about the commitment. That's what he's done for the last few commits going back to the end of last class. Most likely he told Perroni, told him what offers he claimed, Perroni put those offers on his profile, watched the film and slapped a rating on him. That's at least the most likely way that it happened.
  8. Right, but I'm not even seeing the "view complete team list" on his profile. Or the icon that says "North Texas" where you can click on and view the complete commitment list. I see his commitment on the timeline, but that doesn't ever have links. It's really not a big deal. Definitely not 3 posts worthy.
  9. Weird, I don't know why I can't see it. I'm looking on mobile, but I've never had that problem with other kids' profiles from my phone. I just see no interests in his college list.
  10. Where are you seeing that? I don't see any other offers on his 247 profile. http://247sports.com/Player/Deion-Hair-Griffin-81508 He also doesn't have any other recruiting profiles to my knowledge. But 25 touchdowns against 0 interceptions is amazing, even if he won't be a QB in college. Good looking athlete.
  11. A lot of class of 2014 action here. That class has been by far Mccarney's best in terms of offer lists, and they've left good early impressions. Also Kishawn Mcclain is starting from that class as well. I'm not sure. The last time I pointed it out on here about someone else, they changed it. Every high school article and profile I've seen of Wilson spells it "Jeffery", but our site has "Jeffrey."
  12. Which is exactly why I believe we're a year away from having a chance to make a bowl, unless Damarcus Smith is an all-conference type QB right away. That, and our schedule. So many of our most talented players don't have the experience yet.
  13. Jeffery Wilson will be the best back in the conference by 2016, and maybe our best player this year. Also, not surprisingly, his name has been spelled wrong on the team website since he was first put on the roster.
  14. This further solidified my belief that we aren't going to take a high school QB this class. Or at least it looks like that's the plan.
  15. 6'1" 192 lb quarterback from Jones high school in Jones, Oklahoma. We have offered. We appear to be his first offer. Completed 47% of his passes for 1696 yards with 15 touchdowns against 13 interceptions with 181 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns last season as a sophomore. highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4043969/brandon-george http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Brandon-George-162693
  16. I think so. That's around the time we saw Torey Hendrick's name pop up (after we hired Cosh).

  18. 6'3" 225 lb linebacker from Nassau CC in Garden City, New York. Plays LB but listed as potentially a defensive end by recruiting sites. We reportedly have offered. NT03 brought this to my attention. Reportedly has a Syracuse offer and Kansas, but that offer is likely not on the table anymore. A second-team JUCO all american. highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3221464/luder-jean-louis http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Luder-Jean-Louis-160727
  19. I tend to disagree with that statement that we're trying to get bigger RBs and WRs. Just because everyone offers the backs and receivers who have prototypical size. Offering and getting those guys are obviously two different things. Nothing personal towards, just my thoughts on a general sentiment that seems to get thrown around a decent amount with recruiting.
  20. If we do want to take a QB now then we'll really have to make a good impression on a kid who has probably had offers and contact with schools for months.
  21. Butch Jones. You'd be surprised, or maybe not, at how many times that mistake gets made.
  22. First P5 offer comes in, from Colorado.
