  1. Mcnulty had 0 other D1 offers. No way can you consider him a bust. Anytime a player like that becomes a starter you can't consider him a bust. You consider or other recruiting and inability to get a better starter to be a bust, but not him.
  2. Maybe Baylor's D is rusty since it's their first game. At least we won't have to deal with that when we play SM.... oh.
  3. Can't you just enjoy the fact that we just received two extra wins to our 2013-2014 season?
  4. Yeah, and reading articles it sounds like the teammates are really behind that decision. Sounds like he can play, and he legitimately won the job.
  5. We did recruit him, we just never offered. That's important because we did know of him and his interest. The bigger picture issue here is that with Mccarney's mindset and parameters he set on QB recruiting, players like Bogenschutz were not offered by default, because of his/their height. When you recruit to North Texas you obviously don't get the pick of the litter. If you want players with prototypical size you either have to find a hidden guy like Jeffery Wilson (harder to do today), win some recruiting battles against quality schools, or get a guy that has the size but doesn't have the production and wasn't highly recruited because of his play. Mccarney has gotten burned by not being able to win recruiting battles with enough frequency, but still wanting these type of players. That has created a problem, and resulted in us not even considering a guy like Bogenschutz because we're being too picky. North Texas athletics cannot afford to set a bunch of predesignated parameters, with recruiting players or hiring coaches.
  6. I think it has something to do with it, but I think Bogie has just always been a better product than his counterpart here (Means). Bogie had ridiculous high school numbers while Means didn't even complete 50% of his passes as a senior. I've talked about how I wasn't sold on Bogie because he struggled against the faster defenses he went up against like WOS and Kilgore. He's done a great job of getting up to game speed of D1 ball, while Means hasn't. Certainly development has played a part, but we're talking about one QB who is accurate and one who doesn't appear to be.
  7. Completely agree. I'm not asking for A&M or TCU at home. Someone like Kansas would look nice and would be very winnable if we had our stuff together like they do now.
  8. Bogie proving me wrong (and every FBS coach not named Larry Coker). Not going to be an easy one. I'll be interested to see how the other redshirt freshman QB on our schedule does (Stockstill at MTSU).
  9. Just think how much further $1.25 million will go by then in a country run by Kanye West. #Kanye2020 #ImnotsayinRVsagolddigger
  10. What if we would've signed Schloppy Bush back in '06? If Meager and Vizza could put up the numbers they did, imagine what Bush could've done in a Dodge offense. And we could've been good in dynasty modes of subsequent NCAA Football games and it would've been warranted.
  11. Been wondering for months why we haven't offered Nick Smith, or why he doesn't have more offers. Was the #2 back as a freshman and has been the star as a sophomore, junior, and now senior. Check out the tweet from EJ Holland that I posted in Wilson's thread. He was always a long shot at best, but I think he's unrealistic at this point.
  12. He's only a sophomore, and we don't recruit until a few months until signing day so maybe by December, 2017-January 2018. Kidding , kind of. If there's one thing I know, it's that his dad is going to do a great job getting him big-time exposure so we would definitely have to outrecruit other schools. There's a reason he already has a rivals profile. Can't believe he's playing varsity football. Makes me feel super old. Was fun watching the alma mater drum DeSoto yesterday.
  13. You're about to get the wrong person going on that topic, lol.
  14. Developing story in Allen is very reminiscent of what happened last year at Guyer. Most of us remember what happened last year when current Mean Green tight end, then a Nebraska QB commit, transferred to Guyer and lost the starting job to #1 QB in class of 2017 Shawn Robinson, before being ruled ineligible by the UIL. This year Oregon QB commit Seth Green transferred to Allen in hopes of replacing 3-time state champion Kyler Murray. Green lost out to Junior QB Mitchell Jonke, who was at Allen on JV the year before. Also, it now appears that Oregon has been recruiting other 2016 QBs. http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2015/08/seth_green_oregon_ducks_commit.html Green: http://247sports.com/Player/Seth-Green-33697 Jonke: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Mitchell-Jonke-163654
  15. Yeah, that's why you'll never see me bash the staff for not offering him. I watched all of their 6 playoff games on YouTube and he didn't look like an FBS QB to me. I'd rather have him than Means at this point, but I think we could've done better than either. Still pulling for Means since he is in Green.
  16. NDSU is in D1.
  17. Looked at the roster and just realized we don't have a single player remaining from the 2013-2014 team. And at the conclusion of this season, Benford's fourth, there will only have been one player in his entire tenure who will have played more than two seasons here (Jordan Williams). That's insane, to me. Regardless of how much transferring there is in the sport.
  18. Yup. He definitely needs at least a year IMO. Likely more. As for Miles, anyone saying he's better off at guard may be right. But we need him at tackle. I think he's still probably our best option there, even if he still has a ways to go in pass protection. It's unfortunate we don't have more of these linemen Mccarney has signed stepping up.
  19. Commits to Kansas State
  20. No I didn't. I'm not saying who has or hasn't played, or who I've played more than, I'm just saying that if you've physically felt the process of preparing and going through a season on a competitive enough level you know the feeling of what that first game of live action does for you from a playing-speed standpoint. I don't see that factor being taken into account much so either people haven't experienced it or don't remember it. Either way it's something to consider that I don't see being considered much.
  21. I normally hate the whole "you had to have played to understand" logic, since there are plenty of people with the mind to evaluate the game but not the body to play it. But one of the few times I think that applies are situations like this. If you haven't played then it's hard to have perspective on how much faster you as a player are playing at during the second game as opposed to your first game. I'm not saying we for sure lose because of that, but I'd be impressed if we win this game. Especially since we were 0-6 on the road last year. Not sure who I'd put money down on if I had to.
  22. Committed to Arkansas.
  23. Interesting. Although with Banogu graduating at tackle and Kirby and Barr set to return at center, plus with Keenan only having the 2016 season left to play, I think it's pretty likely we'll see Keenan at tackle next spring. Especially if he keeps doing well this year in practice.
  24. https://twitter.com/meangreenfb/status/635133624040316929 Kelvin Smith too. Looks like he got his stripes off before Dillman. Plus Terrance Johnson apparently doing well and of course Marcus Smith and Chris Loving, looking like a redshirt year for Dillman. edit: just looked at the roster. I guess Terrance Johnson has been moved from tight end to defensive line.
