  1. Glad you're starting to see this. He'll do just fine recruiting over here, even if his last job was multiple states away. I'll be keeping an eye on that
  2. His only other offer was from New Orleans
  3. We shot 69% in the first half of the last three games?
  4. Glad to know this, before I graduate and ever attempt to donate a dime to this clown show.
  5. We also were last in CUSA in fundraising for the last year where the reports were released.
  6. Kenny Hill is sitting out but will be eligible next year
  7. Man, we need this hire to work out so badly. Last in our division, last in CUSA in attendance, 1-11, men's basketball sitting at 0-3 against D1 competition with most likely an 0-7 start to the season facing us, and women facing a major rebuild sitting at 1-3 despite an impressive win. I don't care if it takes an extra week. This hire has to be a successful one.
  8. Nice. Thanks for that. The more I hear and read into things, I'm starting to think that Littrell is prez' guy and RV would rather hire get the hire made ASAP, and if that means Meacham then so be it.
  9. I really don't think that's the gold standard, because 3-star ratings are so inconsistent. Do you mean 3-star as in rated a 3-star unanimously by all 4 major recruiting services? Just 1? ESPN ranked darn near every 2015 CUSA commit heading into last season as 3-stars. Some had one other offer, some had no other offers, but ESPN was handing them out left and right. And that's just a single example of why the credibility of saying a "3-star" really has diminished greatly. But back to your original point, we had walkons beating out players who had no other offers. You could make the case that they both should've been walkons to begin with. What talent did he really show? I never saw anything from him that we hadn't seen before out of a true freshman. He could've gone on to be a solid player, but he wasn't this player who was just clearly a special talent.
  10. Cumbie was/is Robinson's lead recruiter
  11. I have very little doubt Littrell would get better classes. Experience in recruiting is almost a double-edged sword. So you've been recruiting the area for a long time? Cool. That means you're older and usually more out of touch with high school kids. Littrell's experience deficit to Meacham does not make him the inferior recruiter at all. Meacham does not have the track record in recent years of being an ace recruiter. But, depending on who you ask, the recruiting will be up to who pulls in better recruiting position coaches.
  12. Longsnapper Tony Johnson's dad
  13. Always hated that quote. Why are you in hell? Not as bad as "fall down 7 times, get up 8," which makes zero sense. But yeah, sounds like Meacham with that quote.
  14. Really? Where did you see Maryland was targeting Meacham?
  15. I think Littrell would do just fine generating buzz on his own in short time.
  16. Yeah, the recruiting game has changed so much it's not even comparable. And yes, obviously Meacham is a good coordinator. What we need to be concerned with is how he translates to being a head coach and running a program. Our program.
  17. Question is, would the new coach spend the time tailoring the offense and developing a senior QB he inherited, when he could be doing the same thing for a young QB who will be here when he's had a chance to bring in his own players and build the roster back up?
  18. Now we're talking, haha. It would be huge if they could flip a QB commit.
  19. Funny thing is, it's a semi-recent development. http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/topic/72839-unt-ad-rick-villarreal-contract-details-drc/ Responding to RV's contact extension.
  20. How did you get that from what he said? He said what he believes lies ahead. Not that if a turn around occurs he will still not support the program as long as RV is here
  21. They got him. They didn't exactly recruit him away while he was still with the EWU team. It was an obvious fit if he wanted to do it, and he did.
  22. I'll be interested to see if the new coach can get an actually good juco QB to come in here for spring on such short notice. He definitely should try. If we get Meacham, I would wonder about Foster Sawyer. Kenny Hill is likely to be the guy there the next two years. Of course Sawyer would have to sit out a year, so it's far from a slam dunk.
  23. I agree here. The main reason is because the juco football programs get really good exposure. If they have subpar offer lists, it's not because only a few schools had the chance to evaluate them. Plenty of good QBs who play for low-exposure high schools. Gotta find the ones who are FBS quality.
  24. At the end of a 1-11 season we play two QBs who will have eligibility left. Both will be seniors next year. One, Damarcus Smith, goes 3-13 in yet another start where he shows sub-D1 accuracy and failed to really stake claim to a job he had every chance to. The other throws a pick six in his only pass. Second pick six of the year for the third string QB who really has yet to do anything in his career with ample chances. Then you have Means and Chumley who really haven't shown anything or even pushed those QBs that went 1-11. Should the new coach give Dillman, a QB who was actually highly recruited to play QB, a chance? Will the new coach bring in a juco QB? Does he go the grad transfer route or does he opt to play players who will actually have eligibility going forward? Start a true freshman, with most freshman already being committed? It's going to be a tough one. Old staff didn't do the new coach many favors here.
