Following recruiting as much I do, I've noticed that while the ratings system is statistically proven to be more right than wrong over large sample sizes, our recruits are not evaluated as thoroughly as commits to bigger programs. The reason is those recruiting sites will evaluate the commits for schools that have subsites and subscribers through their website, while we don't. It's also misleading when looking at things year to year, because sometimes our commits get evaluated more fairly, and some years we have more three stars yet a lower team rating (i.e. More 3-stars on rivals in 2014 than 2015, yet higher rated class in 2015). Because of that, I came up with my own system, based on offer lists of our signees from coaches who are consistently offering about the same amount of guys from year to year. It's changed a bit, but basically guys with no other FBS offers or former walkons are rated as a "C" recruit, 1 other FBS offer is a "C+" recruit, a "B" recruit has 3-5 total FBS offers, a "B+" recruit has 3-5 total FBS offers with one or two being from impressive programs (i.e. Houston, P5s, etc), an "A" recruit has more than 5 FBS offers, and an "A+" recruit has at more than 5 FBS offers and at least 10 total D1 offers. I also noticed that our first and second team all-CUSA selections fit into 3 criteria, before/heading into their all-CUSA season: 1. They were at least "B" recruits, with the one exception being Brelan Chancellor. Typically they were "B+" or better either out of high school or juco. 2. They had plenty of experience heading into the year. At least been a starter for a year prior to the all-CUSA season. 3. Were not busts. Self explanatory and obvious. Well, the all-CUSA teams were released today and we had 0 players make first or second team, with one player making honorable mention (Kaydon Kirby). I had said before the year that we didn't have a single player who fit all three of these criteria, and I didn't see who was going to be all-CUSA or how we could be good this year without enough players, muc less any, fitting these criteria. I got heat for it at the time, but this little system I developed proved true (okay, patting myself on the back). Point is, let this be a lesson that you need to win recruiting battles every year. Our best players who have won us games were guys who other schools wanted. We need a huge influx of that with Littrell.

Devante Kincade - Transfer QB Target
BillySee58 replied to James329's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Who needs a cautionary tale? No one said this kid will single-handedly turn the program around, or that he could put up huge numbers without an o-line. We know it's a team sport. It's the recruiting forum. This is a kid who has a really high chance of being recruited by UNT, as we track who Coach Littrell and the staff he brings in will recruit. That's all. -
Devante Kincade - Transfer QB Target

Yes, but it would take a medical hardship waiver process. The article doesn't specify what he means by take care of his mom. Does he mean take care as in be close to her and actually get to spend regular time with her, or if he means take care of her as she deals with some medical ailment. If this is a hardship case and he were given immediate eligibility he would be able to play this year as a redshirt junior. If not he would have to sit out and wouldn't be eligible until 2017, in which case he would be in his last year of eligibility as a redshirt senior. -

I don't believe you. This implies that we had press conferences before Coach Mac got here. -

I was sick that day. Missed his presser. Mainly because we will have seen A LOT of recruiting by then. Between this signing class and probably already having 15 commitments by game 8 next year, plus the progression of the team on the field. But still early on. -

I've never thought, following the opening press conference of any of my new teams' new hires, "dang, we messed that hire up." -
Also offered by Vanderbilt. http://midvalleysports.com/?p=33204 Actually I think his Washington offer was from Steve Sarkisian. This kid's recruitment was anything but stealth.

He's gotta make that move. Especially with limited time to get a staff in place and sign a mid year juco QB. He probably won't get much time with the team until signing day, but he's gotta make that move and evaluate from there.

RV also said JJ didn't have a winning record until his 4th(or 5th? Can't remember which he said) year, when he had a winning record his first year. And said Benford won 18 in year 2, when he actually won 16 with needing NCAA approval to not have to forfeit for counting too many non-D1 wins (RV scheduling gaffe).

That really impressed me. QB was way off against one of the best defenses in the country and he found a way to manufacture 37 points. Special teams helped, but still.

We all are expecting a rebuilding process that won't occur overnight, but looking at the roster Littrell will be inheriting, one thing that stands out is we should have a lot of seniors next year. We currently have 27 scholarship players who will be seniors next year should they return. That's the biggest senior class since, interestingly enough, Coach Mccarney's first team in 2011. It's not a senior class that has a lot of proven players, but it is a big one. In all honesty, the fact that a lot of these players have not outperformed their opponents is a big reason we were 1-11 last year. I'm not expecting theses guys to suddenly become all-CUSA players, but it should help ease the process as Littrell brings in a bunch of freshmen to help build for the future.

Another blowout loss for UNT?! Genomi one of the greats didn't burned course negative the list for this..

Both lost their first 6 games against D1 competition. Basketball will lose at least their first 7, so I guess them? Edit: Football lost their first 7. Both are looking at 0-7 starts against D1 competition.

Regarding threads for players we aren't recruiting
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Yes, this is definitely a guy I'm keeping an eye on. Thought about making him a thread but I'm going to hold off until we actually start recruiting him to UNT. -
I've never heard of any restrictions on the number of paid coaches who can head out and recruit. Only restrictions I'm aware of are those set in place by quiet and dead periods and restrictions on visits for individual recruits.

UAB's QB was actually a juco transfer, but I do think a head transfer is an option we might explore. Especially if we don't get a juco QB in the week that we have to get one. Alec Morris from Alabama is a guy to watch. I would think Morris would want a young QB to build around, but he may not have that luxury in year 1.

WBB vs. Weber State (12/4/15)

Damn iPad! -
Yup. The not having a football thing really kills them with that. I'm from Arlington, and so many UTA students take not having a football team as a prompt to become a Longhorn fan, since they're a branch to University of Texas anyways. And for many of them they already were Longhorn fans so it's done easy. And that's only part of their problem.
-
He also said "Leadership." after saying that. I took that as a shot at RV, saying he had a better job at UTA because he didn't have to deal with the "leadership" above him in RV. Because otherwise the statement is just untrue.

By the end of basketball season we could be looking at 150 games under. We probably are already there if you only included games against D1 competition.

Dickey could be the Memphis PERMANENT Hire
BillySee58 replied to Mean_Green09's topic in Mean Green Football
They weren't DII. They were 1AA. Looks like it's not going to be Dickey at Memphis after all
