Littrell And The Mean Green Ink Three Players
BillySee58 replied to MeanGreenDan's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
https://twitter.com/dlinekp/status/677690780232908804 So his name is spelled with a "u" at the end, and not an "e" at the end like Meangreensports incorrectly spelled it. Which means Meangreensports literally spelled all three of our mid-term signees names wrong in the OFFICIAL release of the signings, that came a day late. #itsallajoke -
Now that DC and OC are in place -- next most important coach?
BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
My point is he has only been a GA and a quality control coach up until now. I don't think they'd have a guy be the recruiting coordinator in his first year as a position coach. -
'16 JUCO WR Marquis Wimberly (California)
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Yeah, there seems to be a lot of confusion about the dead period. The only thing that really changes during the dead period is there is no visiting going on, both from the coaches visiting the players and the players visiting schools. I believe phone calls are limited by DM contact on Twitter isn't. -

BillySee58 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I'm guessing the DC will coach LBs. And it looks like we probably have our o-line coach. So that leaves tight ends coach, cornerbacks coach, and safeties coach. I don't see any of the announced new coaches being the recruiting coordinator, since this is Filani's first position coach gig, Harrell is the OC, and Ekeler is the DC. Could definitely be Perry or KP. -
Littrell And The Mean Green Ink Three Players
BillySee58 replied to MeanGreenDan's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Why is this athletic department so consistently bad? It's "Henson" and "Wheeler." This happens way too often. First off they're a day late on this announcement, then they have misspellings when it comes out. There's a chance all three were spelled wrong, as last year Ozougwu's last name was spelled with a "u" at the end, not an "e." You can bet Wheeler had some good offers. He had 16 sacks this year and 8 last year at Tyler JC. His recruiting profiles have not been adequately updated at TJC. Ozougwu is a 3-star on 247. He had some FCS and D2 offers per Vito, but he didn't have an up-to-date page last year until he committed and Vito let Brian Perroni know. Then 247 rated him a 3-star. Also, Wheeler's 247 page is not up to date either. Having a blank recruiting page just means he and his coaches haven't kept up with his profiles. He had 16 sacks this year, I'm sure he had offers. -

ozougwu was signed last class and grayshirted. Not a Littrell recruit. Wheeler on the other hand, I can almost guarantee had more offers as a juco recruit. He had 16 sacks this year. -
He would still count towards this class, and take up one of our 25 spots for the class.

There ya go. I guess you are allowed to enroll at the school you're grayshirting at, as long as you take less than 12 hours and don't practice with the team. -
MGB: UNT jumps into race for Liberty QB
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He offered a lot of highly recruited players, yes. But he didn't offer until well after they had already blown up. Our offers were so late on some of these kids it was a joke. Littrell and crew offered this kid almost as soon as he became available. -
6'3" 255 lb defensive end from Tyler JC. Originally from South Grand Prairie. Had 16 sacks last year and 24 over the last two years. Signed with us yesterday, per Vito. highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2201307/joshua-wheeler http://247sports.com/Player/Josh-Wheeler-28636 http://njcaaregion14.com/sports/fball/2015-16/players/joshuawheelerl4j7

They had 7. It reminds me a lot of where we were last year. And they really wanted Henson.

My takeaway from mid-term signing day
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
For reference, we wanted a JUCO Offensive tackle last year, and the offered and brought in several but didn't land any. Here they are: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-James-Works-161063 - signed with Houston http://247sports.com/Player/Justin-Sandifer-75836 http://247sports.com/Player/Jordan-Fagan-77138 http://247sports.com/Player/Tristan-Nickelson-15406?PlayerInstitution=94591 http://247sports.com/Player/Preston-Brooksby-77303 http://247sports.com/Player/Matt-Kellerman-77437 -
My takeaway from mid-term signing day
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I haven't really made a customized scale for JUCO recruits, but let's just say he has the offer list that would qualify him in the "makes sense" category if he were to make all-conference by his senior year. Not saying it's likely, just that he's a good CUSA prospect. A high-school recruit with his offer list would be an "A" recruit. Better offer list than the juco o-line signees Mccarney got (Ochs and McKinney). They weren't able to land guys with similar offer lists last year. -
Kyler Murray has intent to transfer
BillySee58 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know how it works for multi-sport athletes. I would assume he would have to sit out this baseball season. -
The pathetic thing is in that podcast he said something to the effect of "well, the reality is we're not getting the money (for Littrell's contract) from ticket revenue." But the context he said it was as if to say that it was all thanks to him being able to get the big donors and no thanks to the fans for not showing up. As if it's their fault his hires have been awful.

Yes, and yes. True freshman this year. -
Yes. It looks like he didn't sign today.

Looks like it's just going to be OL TJ Henson signing with us today, which is what it looked like leading up to today. It's pretty clear Coach Littrell wants to focus on building this team with his own high school recruits. Also have to factor in the short time to sign jucos, as last weekend was his only chance to host them. The position we were watching for was QB, and he made it clear early on that he was probably not going to go that route. I see this signing as Coach saying "hey, there's a chance we go with a young/freshman QB next year, so I want to make sure our line can adequately protect him." Nothing stunts a young QB's growth quite like constantly getting sacked and having to miss games (and practices). At the same time, I don't see Littrell just completely casting away next year as a rebuilding year. Just because we didn't get many jucos doesn't mean we're going to be young next season. We are set to have 26 scholarship seniors next year, and Littrell knows that.

We don't have to wait until after dead period to get in contact. We just have to wait until after dead period to visit him at home or bring him in to Denton. I'm pretty confident we offer here before dead period ends.

Hawaii also

Signed with North Texas!

We offered I'm not as concerned about whether or not this staff is able to land this kid, I'm just very encouraged that we offered this quickly. It's refreshing, as our old staff wouldn't have even realized he decommitted until his coaching staff reached out to us. Even then Mccarney probably wouldn't have offered as we were set on not taking a QB this class regardless. That QB play we saw this year wouldn't have gotten any better as long as those guys were making the calls.
