  1. Really? I never heard that, but I don't keep up with NCAA rules very well.
  2. He probably will not have to sit out this year since his dad is battling cancer.
  3. Looks like we'll be able to add Bryce English to the list
  4. The ones we have up there are the ones who we believe are legitimate. Johnson's commitment was leaked, but he denied it so that he could announce on his own time, which should be any day now. Should be to us, but he's said Tulsa is still in the running. Cokley's commitment was a weird one. There was never any announcement (i.e. on Twitter), he has never been recognized as a UNT commit, and Vito never did a story on him. He just showed up as a commitment one day on rivals, then 247 followed suit. There's no certainty that he's committed, much less was ever a commitment when Mccarney was still here.
  5. Davis will be back, but he'll be a senior and Kincade will have to sit out this year anyways. I think people are assuming that Kincade has been offered by SMU and Houston and is choosing between them and us. Houston just got Kyle Allen, too.
  6. Reportedly joining us in a similar capacity. Likely director of football operations, via footballscoop. http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop
  7. He was listed as strictly a QB prospect by everyone up until Nebraska fired Pelini. Agreed. Something tells me they wanted to go together at some point, but I wouldn't be surprised if SMU didn't offer Kincade and that's where English wants to go (where his high school coach is).
  8. Yeah, I think most were spring and summer heading into junior season
  9. Tennessee hired Larry Scott as their tight ends coach. Which means they won't be moving Debord their to make room for Chico.
  10. The old staff offered that coach's son. I wonder if the new staff stays after him.
  11. Then we're only looking at 4 home games a year, and one of two non-conference games a year (0 if we did an 8-game schedule).
  12. The NCAA also doesn't want to do more than 15 games for the champion. People have said to go to an 8-team playoff they would either have to take away the conference championship game or the 12th regular season game away. Which, for 120 teams, would not be good.
  13. We have a tight end on our roster who was offered to play QB by Dabo Swinney, Jimbo Fisher, Butch Jones, and Gus Mahlzahn.
  14. Butch Jones is doing a great job. Great recruiting, 6 straight wins, just obliterated a 10-win Northwestern team. No way he gets fired to make room for Herman anytime soon.
  15. Not when Morris went there or when that post was written.
  16. I don't even think he's necessarily talking about a player this recruiting class
  17. Happens all the time with every school.
  18. Honoring a commitment is one thing, but coaches really don't usually get in hot water for not honoring a scholarship offer. It's not like they'll outwardly say "your scholarship offer no longer stands." They just won't recruit the kid. There's nothing immoral about recruiting the players you choose to offer.
  19. He's talking about this http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/188677/connor-means That's the thing when people just throw around the term "3-star". There are four major recruiting services and one out of four rated him a three-star. So you can technically say he's a 3-star. Chumley was a 3-star by three of the four services as an athlete, but was rated a 2-star by the one service that rate him as a QB (Scout).
  20. Right. I agree. It's always been a good fit for both sides, regardless of how highly recruited he was out of high school.
  21. Bad blanket statement by 90. Some Alabama 3rd stringers are true freshman who are going to be in the NFL one day. Some are older kids who maybe should not have gone to Alabama. And guys in between. Likewise, some of our starters could crack their two-deep and some (most) wouldn't.
  22. He's a good pickup. I don't think we have to make excuses for the kid or make him out to be more than he is. He started at Allen as a junior and had plenty of coaches see him yet not offer. I don't think he flew under the radar, but that doesn't mean he's not a good pickup. Most teams only get one QB a class, so QBs generally have less offers than other positions like OL or DE where teams pickup a lot each class. He'll be a legit CUSA level QB this year and give us time to groom a young QB. That's what just what we need.
