Good stuff, as always. Thank you

What did he say? He shouldn't have needed a waiver. He had yet to use his redshirt. Hope we get him back somehow.

Shoutout to NT03 for the heads up, but there was a roster update. Basically all the changes made were seniors and a few other players removed. No position changes, number changes, or additions (i.e. still no Morris, English, mid-term signees, etc). Of note is no Greer, no punter Blake Macek, and no deepsnapper Tony Johnson. All three had a year of eligibility left, and were on scholarship. Also D'aundrey Bradley has not been added back yet.

I'd have to think this is well on pace to be the worst year ever for CUSA, RPI wise. Right, @TheTastyGreek?

Darn. I was really looking forward to watching her play here. She could score.

Big 12 Championship Proposal before NCAA today
BillySee58 replied to ChristopherRyanWilkes's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know about 90's incessant complaining about RV, but this is why I'm so upset that he's been allowed to make so many bad hires and keep his job for so long. Since he hired Dodge we're 31-78. First he hired a high school coach but, most importantly, let him bring in his high school staff when he shouldn't have, then everyone freaks out and blamed it on Dodge being a high school coach and inexperienced. So he hires a coach with experience, which when you do at North Texas usually means that coach lost his last head coaching gig (true in this case). So we bring him in and he wants to run an offense that non-AQ/G5 teams haven't made any noise with in recent history, and he's so out of touch with recruits that he signs a bunch of kids no other FBS teams want and we end up basically the worst FBS team at 1-11. Now it looks like major change is imminent and any chance of "being the next Boise State" is really waning. -
For all intents and purposes, it really isn't over until the visits start taking place. I don't know if the coaches have any in-home visits lined up tomorrow, but I'm hoping we have a busy weekend at Apogee coming up

Poll: Are you ready for dead period to be over?
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He should. We added him to the list. -
Oh yeah? That's on wiki? Well Canales went 2-3 and 1-6 so 9 losses. It was a correction made in jest, as if it matters.

31-78 including Canales

Poll: Are you ready for dead period to be over?
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
To my knowledge you can back count up to 25 spots, but of course that would be if you signed 0 kids the class before. However many we're short we'll get that many next class. At least I thought. Certainly seen teams do more than 3, that's just the number I use in examples. -
Poll: Are you ready for dead period to be over?
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
With about 17-18 spots left, that's up to 6 commits a week if we want a full class. Should be fun from here on out -
What you said was he would never play under Sumlin because he likes improvisers. That's what you said. You did not say his offense only thrives with improvisers. You said "If Kevin Sumlin is the head coach at ATM he will never start." You are seriously the only person who will argue that you said something else that is literally on the same page of the thread. This kid has a chance to be the only QB in the class for A&M. After he redshirts the only scholarship QB older than him will be Jake Hubenak. Whether Sumlin is gone or not, that's a very good situation to be in. And again, regardless of what you think of results, Sumlin has shown that he does play more traditional pocket passer QBs, so if he doesn't play under Sumlin it'll be because someone beat him out. He could go after a dual-threat QB but he is choosing to go after Starkel.

3rd. Always first Wednesday in February. Maybe you knew that, but in case you didn't -
I think we have to go after someone else as well. Debiase, someone else, we need to have someone committed already by the time this kid makes his announcement. That is if he is still uncommitted come his decision day of Feb 2nd.

MGB: Could David Bailiff be a candidate at UTSA?
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
UTSA in trouble -
That's why I stick to the literal meaning of the words he uses.
-
That's a true statement, but that's not what Ben was saying. He said Starkel will never start at A&M because Sumlin needs an athlete who improvises at QB. Sumlin is giving this kid a chance to be the only QB in this class, with the QBs from the prior thee classes all having transferred out. It's obvious Sumlin wants him in a key spot, and not just to never give him a chance to play because he isn't a Manziel-type QB.

MGB: Morris transfer closer to being finalized, sources say
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
They showed him up close throwing a sick rocket during the pregame show. Correct -
Not true. Case Keenum was not that, Kenny Hill isn't, and neither is Kyle Allen. Allen would probably still be their starter had Sumlin not signed Kevin and Kyler Murray. Murray and Manziel were like that, but the other Sumlin QBs haven't been improvisers, and really haven't even been dual-threat types.
-
Thing is, there's a legitimate possibility of that being the case at A&M and UCLA. With Rosen likely to declare for the draft after his junior year, Starkel will have an open competition heading into his RS Sophomore year with a good shot at being a 3-year starter. And at A&M he can redshirt next year while Trevor Knight starts. Then he'll have a great shot at winning the job heading into 2017 as a RS Freshman, having just Jake Hubenak and a 5'10" true freshman in Tate Martell to compete against at that point. Obviously he's much more of a shoe-in to start by 2017 here, but all three schools present good early-playing time opportunities.

Luper emerges as a UTSA HC candidate

Looks like it won't be Luper. I wonder if that Bailiff move is close to a reality. -
MGB: Littrell completes coaching staff
BillySee58 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Tauaalo, Rod Young, Howard, Combs, Wheeler. Tillman Johnson committed and signed with KP, so you can maybe give him credit because there had to be some contact there, but Johnson's lead recruiter was Chico. He also seemed to be very involved with Bryce English.
