  1. I thought of that too. No reason we should be losing kids to SDSU. Hopefully he still visits. Could you give us any update on his recruitment, @GreenFlag?
  2. He's a walkon and already enrolled
  3. I have never called myself a recruiting expert. I don't understand why that's everyone's go-to attack against me, when I've literally never said that. And also I have always been very critical of Mccarney's recruiting even when it was unpopular to do so. And certainly not based on any star system. I still think 2014 was a good class, but I've never said any other class under Mccarney was good then or now. Or not that it was better than what Dodge was doing. I pulled up this statement because you said it would be fun to revisit it in a year.
  4. Wait, but you said he would average at least 10 points and 8 rebounds per game as a freshman. "Brice will avg. at least 10 PPG, 8 RBS and 2 BLKs per game as a freshman. Yes, the competition will be stronger but he will not have 2 guys doubling him the entire game. (albeit 6-1) Additionally, we have not had a point guard (since Weasel Johnson) that can break down defenses and get into the lane like J'Mychal Reese. Brice will make his living from dish passes, alley oops and follow-up dunks. His left handed hook, to his right, is money down low. Robinson's game was completely different; as he never played down low. Brice's game has evolved where he does not take outside shots like he did before his senior year. It'll be fun to revisit this in a year"
  5. That is exactly what I meant. Thank you. Yes, in recent years offer lists have been the best indicator of success for our signees. Especially among our all-conference players. The ratings are also misleading from a national class rank perspective. For example, I've said how 2014 was by far Mccarney's best class and others have argued that 2015 was rated a higher class on rivals. But the truth is, Rivals gave our 2014 class twice as many 3-stars and still has a player who signed elsewhere listed as a commit and counting toward our 2015 class rating. Which should give it no real credibility.
  6. Getting a little ridiculous in here. Let's stay on topic.
  7. I predict we lose 20 games this year and Benford still returns. And not just because of this. Also, still no ramifications for RV who is currently 139 games under .500 by his revenue coaches hired in the last 10 years plus our interim.
  8. 22, which doesn't include Marcus Smith who I believe grayshirted. So Mccarney signed 21 of his own recruits
  9. Actually, yes. Mccarney signed two Dodge commits in Jamone Greer and Marcus Smith. The rest were all Mccarney commits.
  10. Littrell still gets to sell the stadium, just not the grand opening. And he gets to sell CUSA, where Mac only had Sun Belt. I don't think they're getting grief. I think people are just stating that this doesn't show anything the old staff couldn't do. And that's what we're looking for in recruiting.
  11. For sure we have to wait until signing day, and especially with his first full class in 2017 to see how well Coach Littrell and his staff can recruit. But even so, let's not forget that on a similar time crunch to get a staff in and sign a class what Mccarney did with the 2011 class. Flipped Chaz Sampson from Tulsa, flipped Kerry Swarn from Arizona, got players with good offer lists like Cyril Lemon, Derek Akunne, Andrew Power, Freddie Warner, etc. No reason we can't at least pull off something similar to that.
  12. From a recruiting standpoint, there is nothing impressive about this pickup on the coaching staff. It's early, and they pretty much get a free pass this class, but they haven't shown anything that most coaches would have trouble pulling off. Getting kids with few or zero other FBS offers (like in this case) is that no matter how good the player turns out, it is not an example of good recruiting. Anyone can get a kid when they're his only offer. If he turns out good then you're looking at a case of successful EVALUATION. As long as they're doing a good job winning recruiting battles, one to a few of these guys a class are okay. But they need to prove they can win recruiting battles consistently.
  13. I think now is a good time to say thanks to Brett for his hard work. Working overtime right now. Thanks, Brett!

  15. Took a look at the roster yesterday, and by my count we have 60 players returning from last season who are currently on scholarship. Which means we will definitely have the full 25 scholarships available for this class. Although I really doubt they will all be used, considering we still have 17 spots left and just two weeks until signing day. Again, point is we can sign the full 25 this year.
  16. East Texas! Not to mention, with all due respect, I really doubt the S&C program at his school is anything comparable to what you see in the metroplex at the 5A/6A schools. That's a thing I love about these small-town East Texas kids. Their early gains in the weight room are usually substantially more than the kids over here whose coaches were already working them year round in the weight room. Most of these kids have to play every sport for their school and don't have much of an offseason program.
  17. Eh, I just follow it. But thanks, ha. I'm not sure. We've offered two QBs (Starkel and Debiase) and we've visited and will see another throw (Nyc Burns). I wouldn't mind Debiase, but it's been very quiet there from both sides lately, and Starkel seems like a long shot. Tough situation to read right now.
  18. Possibly. That 2014 class is good, and they could have a similar impact as the 2010 class had that bowl year. We still need other good pieces from other classes, including a QB.
  19. Still no word on if the Cokley commit is legitimate. I don't think it is. I don't mind if we don't get a juco commit. Either way we're going to need the guys who have been here yet haven't produced much to step up. Goree, Smiley, Rutherford, Thompson, etc.
  20. 2 weekends before NSD, so if he's going to visit Bowling Green and Marshall that leaves us out of weekends.
  21. I disagree. 2011 was decent for a short-notice class, but 2012 was absolutely his worst class. Both in offer lists and production. Look how many players from that class had no other or just one other offer, and many of those players transferred/quit after not cracking the two deep. A few redshirt seniors remain from that class, but it is yet to produce an all-CUSA player. Harris has really been the only consistent starter from that class. He had one impressive class, and that was 2014 where we picked up a lot of good commitments during and immediately after our bowl run. Then things went back downhill and very, very far downhill at the end.
  22. He wasn't forgotten. Meangreentexan mentioned him in his post that we've since included every other underclassmen DT on our roster to, ha.
