  1. I do my best to at least be consistent in my criticisms. They are on a time crunch, but the new staff isn't showing the ability to win recruiting battles any more frequently than the last staff, which I thought was their biggest problem. They deserve time, but from a recruiting standpoint I don't see how they have improved. Yet, at least. The concerning part is when comparing them to what Mccarney did when he was hired. Even on a similar time restraint he signed some impressive prospects like Power, Warner, Lemon, Akunne, Swarn, etc. No reason we shouldn't be able to get similar results this year.
  2. Maybe. Way to notice that. I just don't see why he wouldn't be a January enrollee if grades were not an issue. It would make him more attractive as a prospect and give him a better shot at early playing time. Usually a lot of stuff to these bounce-back players.
  3. The last staff didn't do awful head to head against La Tech. Miles, Goree, Brooks come to mind recently. But there were plenty of other problems, including winning more recruiting battles overall.
  4. Jim Harbaugh? Also, the Eagles had the second best offense in the NFL during Chip Kelly's tenure, with Foles/Sanchez/Bradford at QB. Personnel decisions were bad, but he did good from the coaching side. Saban also didn't do that bad. Had a winning season with Gus Frerotte as his QB, then went 6-10 with Joey Harrington at QB. No coach lasts long in the NFL with bad QBs. One thing I'll say is it's hard to trust coaches who are better recruiters than coaches. You don't get all the players you want, so coaches like Monken who maximize their talent rather than relying on having better players are better suited for the transition, IMO. Plus, he's going to be an OC first.
  5. Todd Monken took the OC job at Tampa Bay.
  6. Hopefully we sealed this one up.
  7. I know Georgia signed linebacker Chuks Amaechi last class out of the same juco. We offered Amaechi as well. Ekeler was Amaechi's lead recruiter, so he was very familiar with that team. http://247sports.com/Player/Chuks-Amaechi-77162?PlayerInstitution=134561
  8. My concern here is grades. Some kids go from a D1 school to a juco strategically to not have to sit out and get re-recruited. But usually in those cases the recruit is a mid-term enrollee. If a kid qualifies out of high school then he doesn't need to finish his associates degree in order to leave the juco and go to the four year school. Unless there is a grade issue. That was the case with Xavier Grindle, who we signed out of a Mississippi juco, and was at Mississippi State prior to the juco. He never got in. Hopefully this works out better.
  9. 817 isn't just Fort Worth. Most of Tarrant county is 817 area code. But yeah, seems like Hayes here.
  10. Like Emmitt said, you're reading something different than what's being posted. I also don't see what Mccarney recruiting players everyone else did has to do with anything, but sure.
  11. Maybe Tyler Wilson from Arlington Martin
  12. You really need to stop this. For a long time you've said things along the lines of "You never played and my friends played and they think people on here don't know what they're talking about." "I wouldn't trust you with a clipboard." "Go to the GMG game and prove it." "You really think you know more about basketball than Benford." etc. To all the people critical of Benford. Guess what? They've all been right. They never had to play D1 ball themselves or be a D1 coach to really judge his tenure at any point and predict where things have headed. Read WKU's board and see what they think about Harper. Guys who also never played or coached D1 ball. And no one is saying they themselves would do a better job. But for what Benford gets paid, he is underperfoming immensely and this program is not where it should be.
  13. Bad teams usually have worse stats than good teams. If only we had good stats every game, we'd win a lot more.
  14. Actually, they kind of do. They have an affiliated account on Twitter than states the area code of any kid that commits, when they commit. Coach Littrell retweets these tweets too. So not by name (which would be a violation), but they have been announcing the commitments this way.
  15. You're better than this.. Because I know you can take a joke.
  16. Time and a place. Not Quinn's fault the jerseys back then are not nearly as appealing to high school kids in 2016 as the ZO or Dunbar era jerseys. We're talking about which picture should be best for their lanyards. Not saying Quinn and any other players before him shouldn't be revered. Trying to get recruits here, not make sure we pay respects to all eras.
  17. This. Or Dunbar. I'm not a Cowboy fan, but that's gotta count for something to many of these kids.
  18. You don't have to apologize. I'm just saying, let's let coaches proves themselves before hyping them up too much.
  19. This is literally Harrell's first year as a QB coach and first year as an OC. In what way has he proven to be an almighty QB coach that if he can't transform a QB then no one can?
  20. Literally all 3. Ozougwu was spelled (and still is in the release) "Ozougwe", Henson was spelled "Hensen", and Wheeler's first name was wrong, I believe. It really is all a joke.
  21. Football, Men's basketball, and women's basketball outscored by a combined 80 points against MTSU this school year.
  22. Screw Middle Tennessee!
  23. We had a month long dead period, plus retained Perry and KP for at least long enough for him to familiarize the new staff. I would hope they at least have some.
