  1. 5'10" 160 lb cornerback from Cedar Hill. Currently committed to Rice. Will visit this weekend. Also holds an offer from SFA. Untsportsguy on Twitter with the scoop. highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4677831/jameel-moore http://247sports.com/Player/Jameel-Moore-84390 http://sports.yahoo.com/smu/football/recruiting/player-Jameel-Moore-178595
  2. For those who haven't seen in the FB forum, not expected to sign with us on NSD. Qualifying issues.
  3. Littrell and Harrell both have a foot out in front, and Fine doesn't. Harrell is 6'2" and is a good bit taller, even with his foot out in front. I know people want him to be taller, but I don't know why it's so hard to just listen to someone who is clearly well connected in Oklahoma in Travis.
  4. 2011 was pretty good, especially considering the time crunch. 2014 was good too, but the other classes were not. 2012 has been brutal in terms of production, and the offer lists indicated that would most likely be the case. Other than QB recruiting, we also struggled with o-line recruiting, receiver recruiting, d-line recruiting, and linebacker recruiting. Through his first four seasons Lemon was the only full-time O-line starter Mccarney signed. Outside of Akunne at linebacker, Garner has looked good but production has been bad at LB. There's a reason we were so bad this year with nothing but Mccarney classes on the team.
  5. Still has picture from his Tulsa visit pinned
  6. Yeah, I don't know that that's a game you want to play with quarterbacks.
  7. Speaking of our most visible teams, we are tied for last place in CUSA with Charlotte and Rice for worst combined conference record between football, men's, and women's basketball.
  8. Yeah, me too. Fine looked around 5'10" to me, next to Littrell and Harrell. I expect more commitments during the week both this week and next week leading up to signing day. These last two weeks you usually get more commits during the week and not just on the weekend.
  9. Nope. But at the same time, at least it's because he is 5'10/11" and from a small school in Oklahoma. Not because he can't play. The good news is, the positions that seem to be more prone to outliers in my offer list scale are QB, receiver, and DB. If a QB fits the offense well and is developed well then a lightly-recruited QB can turn out good in college. But yeah, that being said, I still think we need to see this staff start to win more recruiting battles. QB included. Would be far from a can't-miss signing. Completely agree. I would even say that people think more of Manning and Brady when they see pocket passer. Luck is more of a passer but can beat you with his legs. I feel like people see pocket passer and assume it's a guy who can't make a defense pay by keeping on a zone read, etc. Debiase and Fine are both capable of picking up first downs with their legs if that's the right move. So yeah, definitely varying degrees of pro-style and dual-threat guys.
  10. That doesn't mean he's not a dual-threat. I think he and Debiase are both around the same as Mcnulty with their legs. Hopefully a little more, but they look like they can move well enough to make defenses respect their athleticism. @Wag TagI wouldn't read too much into that pro-style label on Debiase. He is a decent runner, and looks to have around the same mobility as Fine.
  11. Making his decision tomorrow, per Vito
  12. You don't bring out the deep V for just anyone
  13. There is no "they". It's just one guy who Crystal ball'd Debiase to Va Tech back in September 2014. Since then they've picked up their QB commit for the class and we're Debiase's only offer since then.
  14. Those offers are old, and there's pretty much no way he's still being recruited by them. Indiana offered when Littrell was there, when Debiase was a sophomore, and the Va Tech offer was a while ago too. Both already have their QB commits this class. And the crystal ball prediction is 100% to Va Tech because one guy predicted him to go there, but that prediction was made 16 months ago.
  15. Guess we're rollin with Dillman!
  16. Gotta wonder if that's it for us. Maybe Debiase or bust? Things have been very quiet on that front lately.
  17. I do my best to at least be consistent in my criticisms. They are on a time crunch, but the new staff isn't showing the ability to win recruiting battles any more frequently than the last staff, which I thought was their biggest problem. They deserve time, but from a recruiting standpoint I don't see how they have improved. Yet, at least. The concerning part is when comparing them to what Mccarney did when he was hired. Even on a similar time restraint he signed some impressive prospects like Power, Warner, Lemon, Akunne, Swarn, etc. No reason we shouldn't be able to get similar results this year.
  18. Maybe. Way to notice that. I just don't see why he wouldn't be a January enrollee if grades were not an issue. It would make him more attractive as a prospect and give him a better shot at early playing time. Usually a lot of stuff to these bounce-back players.
  19. The last staff didn't do awful head to head against La Tech. Miles, Goree, Brooks come to mind recently. But there were plenty of other problems, including winning more recruiting battles overall.
  20. Jim Harbaugh? Also, the Eagles had the second best offense in the NFL during Chip Kelly's tenure, with Foles/Sanchez/Bradford at QB. Personnel decisions were bad, but he did good from the coaching side. Saban also didn't do that bad. Had a winning season with Gus Frerotte as his QB, then went 6-10 with Joey Harrington at QB. No coach lasts long in the NFL with bad QBs. One thing I'll say is it's hard to trust coaches who are better recruiters than coaches. You don't get all the players you want, so coaches like Monken who maximize their talent rather than relying on having better players are better suited for the transition, IMO. Plus, he's going to be an OC first.
  21. Todd Monken took the OC job at Tampa Bay.
  22. Hopefully we sealed this one up.
  23. I know Georgia signed linebacker Chuks Amaechi last class out of the same juco. We offered Amaechi as well. Ekeler was Amaechi's lead recruiter, so he was very familiar with that team. http://247sports.com/Player/Chuks-Amaechi-77162?PlayerInstitution=134561
