  1. I know we're starting to get excited about us finally getting commits, but UTSA and Texas State are having just as successful weekends. A lot going on from now until signing day.
  2. Makes the most sense. Saw Hamilton following him
  3. 817 is a good chunk of Tarrant County. Not just Ft. Worth. I believe Fine and Pirtle's area codes are 918 or 539. 405 is Oklahoma City area
  4. Im going with Nic Smith and Tyler Wilson from Arlington Martin
  5. Everything before, I believe, 2012 doesn't have 247's specific rating. If you look next to a player's composite rating there are 4 dots. How ever many of those dots are filled in indicates how many of the 4 major recruiting sites' (Rivals, 247, ESPN, Scout) ratings for that player are factored in to his composite rating. It's basically an average factoring in his rating from all 4 sites. However, players who came before 247 started will still have a composite score based on their rating from the other sites. 247 wasn't around to rate Riley Dodge in 2008, but ESPN, Scout and Rivals were. So those three ratings are averaged to give him a 247 composite score, even though 247 didn't actually rate him. Which is why there are three filled in circles next to his composite score. So basically 247 has conveniently archived things well before they existed. And given out composite scores to recruits based on the sites that were around and rated them at the time.
  6. Our last 4-star http://www.scout.com/player/51475-cameron-montgomery
  7. Cam Montgomery was also a 4-star juco according to scout back in 2007. 247 wasn't a thing back then. http://www.scout.com/player/51475-cameron-montgomery
  8. I don't think anyone was saying this staff can't win recruiting battles. Maybe saying they hadn't shown it, or that they needed to. Not that they couldn't. Man, I'm still blown away by how juco heavy they're going. That's a huge pickup, though in Johnson. Probably first juco four-star we've signed since Cam Montgomery.
  9. Here's is a list of all the CUSA schools and their record so far this school year in conference play, combined between their football, men's basketball, and women's basketball team (ordered that way in parenthesis). We are dead last. No real particular order, sorry. MTSU - 20-6 (6-2, 7-2, 7-2) Marshall - 17-9 (6-2, 7-2, 4-5) WKU - 19-7 (8-0, 3-6, 8-1) ODU - 13-13 (3-5, 5-4, 5-4) Charlotte - 9-17 (0-8, 4-5, 5-4) FIU - 8-18 (3-5, 5-4, 0-9) FAU - 10-16 (3-5, 4-5, 3-6) *UAB - 11-7 (0-0, 8-1, 3-6) UTEP - 15-10 (3-5, 3-5, 9-0) USM - 14-10 (7-1, 4-4, 3-5) La Tech - 15-8 (6-2, 4-3, 5-3) UTSA - 8-18 (3-5, 2-7, 3-6) Rice - 8-16 (3-5, 2-6, 3-5) UNT - 6-18 (1-7, 2-6, 3-5) *no football team this year. Still five more total conference wins than us. “What we need now is for folks to come out and be a part of what we do,” Villarreal said. “It’s fair to say that we provided the facilities and atmosphere that people wanted. We have the kind of coaches who can do what we need to do. Dan proved that a year ago. We need people to come out, fill the stands and help move the program forward.” - RV during coaches caravan
  10. "Yeah, you know, it just hasn't been our season." - Benford in the postgame show "They didn't call that. We haven't been getting calls all year. They should've called that." - on a foul that should've been called against Combs
  11. Can't help but wonder why Bain didn't have more offers out of JUCO. Either way would be a good get
  12. Not a bad example, but that all happened after Putu's season ended. The tough situation where you can get burned is getting a commit and shutting down recruiting at that position (like QB) but then knowing that player still has his whole senior season for bigger programs to come around on him. If we could lock up a Blosser commitment at some point it would be really nice if we could get him to enroll early.
  13. They can, they just have to be unofficial visits.
  14. Also, I noticed Leblanc has a son who is a 6'1" 260 lb sophomore and started at right tackle for his school in Mississippi. Could be a good prospect in a couple years, and would be a big addition for a local school if he chooses to move the family.
  15. I want to say you're thinking of the first two full classes signed by Mccarney (2012 and 2013). I don't know how much Dodge recruited Louisiana, but he only got two signees from the state in four classes. In 2012 we signed four from Louisiana, but also had a commitment from Royce LaFrance who flipped to Tulane towards the end. LaFrance was really the only one out of the five who was a good prospect, and the other four never really played meaningful snaps for us. Also, the final straw for the Mccarney era recruiting Louisiana was getting commits from Jermaine Antoine and Sergio Medina in 2013. Antoine flipped to TCU and Medina flipped to Tulane. That turned off Mccarney and a lot of our fans from recruiting Louisiana. We just needed better recruiters, IMO. Hopefully we have good enough recruiters now.
  16. Yeah, you're not required to offer or anything just because they OV. But at the same time you don't see many kids taking OVs and then just being offered PWO.
  17. You think Pirtle is an Official visit? I know Vito was quoting him as saying his coaches were basically telling him to expect a PWO offer. I feel like they might not be saying that if it was an official.
  18. Jalen Adams. Ugh, man that was too bad. He was a highly recruited kid, and he could've been a really good receiver, but his ceiling was all-conference if he would've played CB.
  19. Thanks, Or! Hopefully you can get him on between NSD and spring practice.
  20. I don't know what recruiting site you're referencing rates classes on a letter scale, but from 2002-2006 Alabama's class rankings on Rivals were 30th, 49th, 24th, 18th, and 11th. He started bringing in better classes as he went along, but those good classes weren't old enough to make a difference until Saban arrived.
  21. Writing was on the wall. Thanks
  22. Means barely hit 50% completion percentage his junior year and didn't hit 50% his senior year. Debiase actually had 2500 yards. 1400 was from the regular season, but as Vito said, he sat a lot in the second half because they would be up by so much. Way ahead of Means as a senior.
  23. Like I just told MGT, Gronk never played a down while Littrell was at Arizona because of injury, and Littrell didn't become OC until Gronk was in the NFL. I don't think he values the tight end all that much. He didn't use the tight ends much at North Carolina, and despite recruiting many JUCOs here he didn't bother to go after a juco tight end. Even though his three current tight ends have yet to play a meaningful snap, two are coming off redshirts, and none were very highly recruited at tight end. That tells me he isn't that worried if he doesn't get much out of that position. For that reason I don't see the harm in moving Dillman. Exactly. And I don't blame them either. And Littrell was technically his position coach, so it wasn't too much of a reach.
