I uncovered this number last football season (2014) after the UAB game. At the time the number was about 98 or 99 games under .500. I thought if we had to fire a revenue coach, or one of either the men's basketball or football coach then that would be it for RV. In that short time the revenue sports have lost almost 50 more games then they've won, and we're about to have fired all three of the revenue coaches who were around back then. Yet still, not the least amount of pressure on RV.
-
It honestly doesn't matter. President Smatresk, the major donors, and RV himself are well aware of these numbers. Maybe not the exact number, but they've seen it at various stages. If it mattered to then something would've happened long ago. He's seen it before. What makes you think we've somehow passed a tipping point with any of them?

Update on RV and the revenue hires he's made in the last 10 years. If men or women can't seriously turn things around quick, we're looking at 1 winning season out of 21 for this crop. And, you know, 145 games under .500. WBB: - 25-67 Stephens (2008-2011) - 15-16 Aston (2011-2012) - 28-61 Peterson (2012-2015) - 8-13 Jalie Mitchell (2015-2016) 76-157 total MBB: - 12-20 Benford (2012-2013) - 16-16 Benford (2013-2014) - 14-17 Benford (2014-2015) - 9-15 Benford 51-68 total Football: - 6-37 Dodge (2007-2010) - 22-32 Mccarney (2011-2015) - 3-9 Canales (2010, 2015)* 28-69 total *31-78 total including Canales Combined Total: 155-294 *158-303 including Canales 145 games under .500

Yes. We offered over the summer. I believe his dad trains QBs including Shanbour. Maybe it's not his dad, but I'm pretty sure he and Shanbour train at the same place.

Yeah, they're mostly accurate. But those are all from Mccarney's staff. I've got threads made for pretty much all of them. Only one I'm skeptical on is the Quiroz offer. Don't have one on Porche. I've been unsure as to when that offer came out, but I'm thinking it was before NSD. Could've been Mccarney or Littrell. As for Middleton, I'm pretty sure the deal was that he was always supposed to be a 2017 kid but was almost able to graduate a year early, but wasn't able to in the end. There hasn't been a public de-commitment so the sites aren't going to take him off our commitment list.

MGB video: Morris talks about landing at UNT

0 conference titles for DT That stat is a little misleading. I did a count one time, and we've had over 10 teams in our history who did not go to bowl games because there weren't very many, but would have gone by today's standards. Still impressive accomplishments to win them, but only since we rejoined the 1A/FBS level has this really been that achievable for us. Way more attainable now, with every 6-6 team in the country and some 5-7 teams getting in. -
I don't have a problem with it, necessarily. What I think he needs to steer clear from is being like Mccarney where he's putting a walkon on scholarship before 2 seasons (where they have to count towards the recruiting class) and they don't even hardly play. The only way that should happen is if the walkon is starting or is a co-starter/key rotational player. With all due respect, you shouldn't have to run out of spots in your class because you decided to put your 13th leading receiver on scholarship.
-
I think collectively they were the bright spot of 2015. Jeffery Wilson and Kishawn Mcclain, both from the 2014 class, are probably the best offensive and defensive players, respectively, on the team. Also, Tee Goree is probably our number 1 receiver heading into this year and Rutherford is in a good spot to grab the other starting outside receiver spot. Willy Ivery has made plays when he's had the chance, and should get more chances this year. Chris Miles was freshman all-conference last year and is on track to be a 4-year starter, and easily has all-CUSA potential. Defensively I think Tillman Johnson and Brandon Garner start this year. Johnson was hampered by injury all season, but I think very highly of his abilities and expect a big comeback year. Set true freshman sack record in 2014. Garner made some plays last year in limited time. I expect to see more of him, and more consistency as he gets more experience. Unfortunately it wasn't a bigger class, but I think if those players end up being the impact guys they appear on track to be, then the class will have a solid nucleus of guys who can win you games.

It might not be. If the five former walkons deferred from the 2015 class to 2016 class is the reason why we only have one spot left in this class, then we've got more walkons we would have to defer to the 2017 class (Fernandes, Bean, Gunter, and Rice). Based on offer lists, this class would've been between Mccarney's second and third best classes. 56% were "B" or better recruits. Falls well short of the 2014 class, which had an impressive 78% rate.

So I shouldn't have second guessed myself on including one for "Euless Trinity QB." Wow -

Question about scholarships available

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7JsqmOk71g Mccarney starts off this presser by explaining how we had to count those 4 former walkons (Kirby, Buyers, Macek, and Caldwell) towards the 2014 signing class. -

Another player I noticed gone from the roster is Rex Rollins. He was set to be a redshirt senior this year. It's unfortunate, had some promise but couldn't stay healthy. -

If what I explained is true then we might have to count Bean, Fernandes, and Rice toward our 2017 class. If it's true then we just had to use a spot in this class last week on Sheldon Wade, who last played back in 2014. -

No need to apologize. It was in this thread, but that post was almost a year old. I don't know if it's true or not, but it makes sense if what we're hearing on the numbers is true. I honestly don't know much about these type of situations because you just don't see this type of thing nationally in recruiting. -

@ChristopherRyanWilkes@GMG24 Here's a post from earlier in this thread. Basically says we had to count Kenny Buyers, Blake Macek, Kaydon Kirby, and Skip Caldwell towards our 2014 class, because they were put on scholarship after spending just one season with us as walkons. The rule, as I've understood it, is that if a player spends less than two full seasons as a member of an FBS team as a walkon before being placed on scholarship then he has to count as an initial counter (re: part of the 25-max man class). Those four I just mentioned were on the team in 2012 as walkons, but were placed on scholarship prior to the 2013 season, thus requiring us to count them towards the next recruiting class (class of 2014). So knowing this, the next year I anticipated we would have to count the players who spent 2013 as walkons but were placed on scholarship before the 2014 season towards the 2015 class. Those players were Andy Flusche, Erick Evans, Michael Banogu, Eric Keena, and Sheldon Wade. Five former walkons needing to count as initial counters. However, Mccarney ended up signing a full 25-man recruiting class in 2015, which did not include any of those five former walkons. In short, if you're still following, maybe Mccarney was able to push those five former walkons back a class. Littrell signed 19 this class. If you add those five I mentioned then that would put us at 24 spots for the class, which would explain us only having one more open spot. In short, Mccarney may have screwed us past his firing due to his awful roster management. -

No, he didn't. Was a true junior last year. But you're right, he's not on the roster. Wow. -
He was a juco transfer and was rated a 5-star from Blinn. JUCOs are rated, including Newton and all of the JUCOs we got. https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/maple/95471 Again, it's just hard to rate a guy like Alec Morris who hasn't thrown a pass since high school. You can slap a player's old high school rating, but that might not be accurate for a guy like Anthony Wallace once he started playing college ball. What else do you use to rate from there? Practice film? That's what it usually comes down to, so it's just not very practical for FBS transfers.
-
They do rate JUCOs. They're included in class ratings. As for scholarship FBS transfers, it's just hard to rate most of those guys. A lot of those guys are transferring because of lack of playing time, so it's hard to rate a guy who really hasn't played a meaningful snap in a game since high school.

Reviewing and comparing the 2016 class based on offer lists
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
No, but I have for individual players. It's pretty time consuming, and the further back you go the harder it is to even find accurate offer lists for our guys. I started here in 2011, so these are the guys whose offer lists I've become familiar. -
Reviewing and comparing the 2016 class based on offer lists
BillySee58 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Possibly. As I was talking about, that 2010 class only had 3 players B or better, but they all ended up all conference. We need to see these guys actually become bonafide all-CUSA guys. Looking at that 2013 team, we had 6 players who were all-CUSA that year and 2 more starters who were honorable mention but became all-CUSA the next year (Akunne, James Jones). If you look outside those guys, the rest of the starters on that team were mostly below "B" and former walkons. It's so key to have those difference makers who make those around them better.
