  1. I think he was just trying to graduate a year early and thought last summer that he would be able to, but wasn't able to after all so now he's back with his original class (2017), and getting recruited as such.
  2. Were they? I don't recall.
  3. I don't know. That wasn't my point. What I was getting at was that they didn't tolerate that failure and also that Johnson didn't have years to set the program back through bad recruiting classes, like Mccarney did.
  4. Ellis Johnson was fired after that one season. His first one there.
  5. Then he should get it. He's got a shot to practically get his PhD by the time his career is over.
  6. The medical redshirt will hinge on his original redshirt season back in 2013. If the NCAA deems that he sat out that season for medical reasons, and not just traditional non-injury reasons you would redshirt a freshman for, then he can get the hardship waiver/medical redshirt. That's the precedent the NCAA has set. If he was healthy all year in 2013 and was practicing while he was redshirting then he probably won't get it.
  7. Hardship waiver is much more at the forefront of your lexicon than that of most people.
  8. Unless it's another full-season injury. Also, if a player takes a conventional redshirt that is not due to injury then he won't get an extra year/medical redshirt for missing a year later on. Also, I think people, notably Vito, are talking about a cult following for Shanbour that doesn't actually exist. This board isn't falling in love with him. They're more saying that Morris hasn't earned the right to be the uncontested starter and Shanbour is simply the only player who can even semi-legitimately challenge him.
  9. Decommitted from Kansas. Has been blowing up, but this timely tweet makes it seem like we'll be targeting him hard
  10. Why does that matter? Either way we knew he wouldn't be coming back and we never were counting on him returning.
  11. Just from what I have read, it seems like more people have just been saying things along the lines of Morris still needing to prove more before anointing him the undisputed starter. And that Shanbour should be given a shot to win the job since Morris is basically just as inexperienced.
  12. Obviously I like to maintain that offer lists are better indicators for our recruits because of how unevenly and infrequently our commits are evaluated across the sites. Still, it gets proven every year that despite the inevitable exceptions across hundreds of D1 signees, the higher rated recruits just pan out at a higher rate.
  13. They had their fair share of fans who wanted this for a while. I think it'll end up being good for them.
  14. Austin Davis at Southern Miss threw for over 10,000 yards and led them to a CUSA championship as a former walkon not long ago. But I generally agree with Vito on Shanbour. http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/austin-davis-1.html I don't even think they were that good in practice. A poster on this board said the last fall scrimmage in 2014 before we played Texas featured one complete downfield pass combined between Greer and Mcnulty, and it was by Greer. They weren't exactly lighting it up in practice either.
  15. Coach Mac was holding out for a whole class of Darrien Mcnairs in 2016.
  16. Do you know what the basis of his waiver is? I was under the impression it was just a standard transfer.
  17. Yeah. And Vito hasn't mentioned it when talking about the fact that we're adding Ryan Woolridge, but Woolridge will have to sit the first semester as well. He spent the first semester last season redshirting at San Diego, so he will have to sit out another semester with us before playing. Same reason Frazier has to sit one more semester with us.
  18. Thank you! Still planning on keeping everything up to date. Just not as up to the minute as it has been. Glad to see other people picking up the slack. Expecting a lot more commits this summer than we had last summer. Should be fun to track.
  19. Yeah, I've just been busy with my last semester of school and GMAT stuff. Plus with RV I've just lost a lot of motivation towards UNT athletics in general lately. And I start my full-time job in a month, so I knew last signing class would be the last one I'd be able to put a whole lot of time into. I just saw the CHHS kids. As far as getting a kid who a P5 school is actively recruiting, like that WR, I'll have to see this staff do it before I expect it. The QB looks like he could be a good option. Although I'm not expecting a whole lot more QB offers for this class. I think they're going to start to narrow things down and lock up a QB this summer.
  20. I've honestly paid very little attention lately, but it sounds like Ashton Preston, a 5'10 cornerback, is our rover right now. Also, JUCO LB Eji Ejiya, somewhere around 6'3" 220, said he was recruited to play that position during his recruitment. Sounds like we'll have different body types at that position, including Davis.
  21. I'm going to sound like 90 here, but ever since Vito forged a bit of a partnership with Perroni of 247 this has happened a couple other times. We get a commit who hasnt been ranked by 247 or anyone else, Vito tells Perroni, Perroni lists the commitment and slaps an 80 rating (baseline rating for a 3-star). Happened for Ozougwu and Mason Fine as well (Ozougwu was an 80 while Fine was a 79). That's a reason for us in particular I'm more concerned with offer lists. Not hating on Vito or Perroni, as it is good press for us. What I am impressed with is how this is nearly a month earlier than Mccarney ever got a commit, and about two months earlier than our first commit last year. Even if he doesn't have any other offer, that's a good job of pitching your program. Because the 80-rating was just given to him. Sometimes it takes the composite system a bit to kick in.
  22. We offered Debiase back in December. We chose Fine over Burns.
  23. Facilities. Rave reviews
