  1. East Texas, so looks like not Harris but probably Pearson
  2. Commits to Colorado
  3. Can we learn from this? Don't extend a football coach who hasn't A. Recruited and developed his own QB B. Recruited and developed his own d-linemen (all four starts in 2013 were inherited from Dodge) and C. Recruited and developed his own o-linemen (3 of 5 in 2013 were inherited from Dodge and one was a walkon). Also, 6 of 11 defensive starters and 7 of 11 offensive starter that season were inherited. And also, don't extend an AD whose football hires are 0 for 5 in getting a winning season and 13-47 (at the time of RV's last extension).
  4. I have no problem with people campaigning for Hank, as long as they can also name other legitimate candidates and explain why Hank has more talent and potential as an AD than they do. If someone thinks Hank should be the guy and they haven't a clue about other candidates outside of Denton, then their argument has no legs to stand on whatsoever. Just like people who wanted Chico because he did better than Mccarney and they didn't know enough other coaches outside of the name head coaches in CFB.
  5. You get 85 scholarships for your team and 25 scholarships per class. Scholarship players leaving does not allow you more than 25 spots in a class.
  6. Should've been none heading into the 2016 class.
  7. Correct Blueshirts means a player comes in as a walkon but is put on scholarship pretty much immediately, never having to pay for any school. The catch is they can't have come in on an official visit, paid for by the school, at any point, or been officially introduced by the school as a signee.
  8. What I can tell you is you get 25 scholarships a class, unless you signed less than 25 the class before in which case you can back count that many. We introduced 19 on signing day. We've received five 2016 commitments since, which brings our total up to 24. Makes sense, in theory. The uncertainty stems from Littrell stating that we had just one or two (can't remember) scholarships left available for the class after signing day. My theory on that goes back to the 2015 class. We were able to sign a full class despite having four walkons put on scholarship prior to spending two seasons at UNT as walkons. Such players took up four scholarships in the 2014 class (Buyers, Kirby, Caldwell, Macek), so theoretically four more should've taken up spots in 2015 (Wade, Flusche, Keena, and Banogu). But they didn't and we signed a full 25 of just high school and JUCOs. My next theory was that those spots were deferred to the 2016 class, and those walkons that should've counted towards the 2016 class would be deferred to the 2017 class (Sam Rice and Daniel Khan). I'm not 100% sure how the walkon rule works, or if it has changed and I am not motivated enough to do the research on it. JayD also pointed out that these players may be blueshirts, and as long as they never took an official visit they would qualify since I don't think the school has formally introduced them. Just means they would technically come in as walkons but get put on scholarship right away.
  9. Officials don't start until the fall. As far as an unofficial visit goes, I don't know if he has a scheduled one upcoming.
  10. I disagree. Are we supposed to believe that current high school kids are just inherently more fickle? No, it's that recruiting is getting more competitive and kids are being pressured to commit way earlier than they ever were. It used to be where recruiting didn't really start until after one's senior season ended. There was no time to decommit. The decision was made then boom, it's signing day in a few weeks. Now kids are being heavily recruited and pressured to commit as 15 and 16 year olds, when they can't sign for months, or even years from their commitment. This has nothing to do with the kids themselves and everything to do with the way modern-day recruiting is. If high school sophomores and juniors in the 70s, 80s, and 90s were pressured and wooed to commit early the way they are now, there would've been a lot of decommitments then too. They just weren't.
  11. Below average is putting it nicely. And hearing him on air is a beating. Not just that he's not a good color man, but he doesn't get it. I'm sure he's a good guy, but not the guy who can maximize our potential.
  12. That's a question for whoever would be providing the content.
  13. That may not be a bad idea. Although, for that it wouldn't be just an upfront donation. It would have to be assurance that our fans would continue to pay for the insiders for the content, not just an up front payment.
  14. It's just auto updated. Every school has one. If 247 reports an offer, it goes to that page automatically. Unfortunately still no actual active subsites with the major recruiting sites.
  15. Plus, Shanbour is technically still a walkon. With QB, you always have to project your QB depth years in advance. That always bit Mccarney and crew in the rear. What do you mean we were supposed to be developing our own QBs? Who do we have at QB for 2017? Before we got this dude, Fine was our only current scholarship QB you really expect to be in the mix by then. I'm still thinking it's likely we get a high school QB and a grad transfer/JUCO this upcoming class. Future of our QB position still needs a lot of work.
