  1. Flusche came in as a walkon linebacker. I don't know that he's a guy suited to play 3-tech. I think Tillman Johnson and Jarrian Roberts could play that standup role. Not sure where they were at in the spring. Roberts came in as a linebacker as well. He's a fourth-year guy. Time for him to prove it, one way or the other
  2. Sid Moore as well. Although he is more of a 3-tech himself. And our defensive ends are more outside guys themselves. Combs and maybe Dilonga have the size to handle 3-tech, but not sure about the other guys. Rod Young may be the most indispensable player on our roster, outside of Alec Morris and possibly McClain and Gray as well.
  3. Interesting change I saw. RS Freshman RD Wegmann has been moved from defensive line to offensive line. Now we have just 3 scholarship defensive tackles available, with English forced to sit. Although with a first unit yesterday of Combs, Young, and Dilonga with Wheeler as the rush linebacker, it looks like we're going to see some of these defensive ends playing more 3-technique, and more inside in general.
  4. Derek Thompson's 2010 medical redshirt, Roger Franklin's waiver to not sit out a year after transferring from Oklahoma State in 2011 come to mind. More so the latter, as Thompson's season-ending injury happened in the third game of the season, which is more of a defined rule than a discretionary call. As for English, like UNT90 has said all along, they made a specific rule on this type of case. He should still get four seasons to play, that just starts next year.
  5. I wouldn't say I was shocked at lack of production in year 1, but 0 sacks was surprising. Most of the time I watched him he wasn't close. Looked slow off the ball and didn't look like he was packing much of a punch either. Some were marveling at his listed size (6'4" 260 lbs) and he had a good 40 time listed. Sounded too good to be true, and it was. I think he needs to play at a more svelte weight, and I think he is now.
  6. They're arriving the day after fall camp starts?
  7. I'm interested in the impact the JUCOs who weren't here in spring can make. JUCOs usually need that first year to get settled in anyways, even if they are here for spring. My expectations are very tempered, especially after seeing Jareid Combs, a very highly recruited JUCO player with great JUCO production, go the whole year without a sack. A lot hinges on how quickly they can comes along.

  8. I did in my referenced "post above."
  9. As long as they come in on scholarship from day 1, then yes a scholarship transfer counts. See the introductions of Bryce English and Alec Morris as part of our 2016 signing class.
  10. He had his last straw
  11. Looking like it. I think camp starts in 5 days
  12. See my post above. We're down to 8 scholarship receivers on our roster who can play against SMU (with Smiley suspended), and we run 4-wide so the two deep is 8 receivers.
  13. Yup. We currently have 9 scholarship receivers on our roster, and 8 receivers are going to be in our two-deep. With Smiley suspended that puts us at 8 for the SMU game with 8 spots in our two-deep. Then we also have the 2 tight ends and Dequinten Jackson supposed to come in, but either way I don't think any of the 3 freshmen receivers are going to redshirt.
  14. It hurts to lose underclassmen right now. Projecting our roster down the line, we aren't just going to be short on scholarship players this year. Right now we have 62 scholarship players on our roster, and 30 of those are seniors and juniors. These blueshirt players we are expecting to add in the next week will both count towards/take away spots from our 2017 class and still not be here come 2018, Littrell's third year. So we're looking at 32 current scholarship players we expect to still have come 2018, less than 25 players in our 2017 class who will still be here by 2018 (depending on how many blueshirts end up counting and showing up), and 25 spots for 2018. So we're looking at about 77 scholarship players come 2018, and that's if everyone here stays and all the signees make it in over the next two years, which is unrealistic to think will happen. Littrell could run into an issue with roster management down the line, so we can't afford these young guys to be leaving en masse.
  15. Another subtraction from the roster - 2015 WR signing Rodney Bendy is no longer on the roster. Also @NorthTexan95, a few updates to the spreadsheet, JUCO OL Signee Jalen Thomas needs to be added to the spreadsheet, OL Garrett Gunter is on scholarship, former tight end Wylie Reinhardt has been moved to offensive line, Kenny Buyers is now a receiver, JUCO QB signee Devin O'Hara is now on the roster, and as previously mentioned Jalen Montgomery is no longer on the roster.
  16. As short handed as we are, that doesn't seem to be in our best interest.
  17. 2014 signee Linebacker Jalen Montgomery is no longer listed on the official roster.
  18. I don't think we ever had a realistic shot. Yes, these players will tweet out a UNT offer and that alone does not guarantee that they'll spend another minute thinking about us throughout their recruiting process. For whether or not we have had more QB interest with our current coaches, I haven't seen any actual substance that suggests this is the case. They've landed two high school QB commits so far. One had no other FBS offers, and the second had one other FBS offer from Wyoming. And I don't know how highly HS QBs actually feel about Littrell and Harrell. I've said things along this line plenty before, but let's put things in perspective. When you (you, collective) were heading into your senior year of high school, could you name who the offensive coordinator at North Carolina was the year before, or who was the leading passer in the NCAA when you were in fourth grade? Because that's who Littrell and Harrell were for these current high school seniors. Littrell and Harrell have a chance to land some quality QBs here, and put up some big-time numbers, but it's going to take a lot more than just the system they run or the clout their names bring. If that is the case, I just hope they realize it soon, unlike our last coach who thought high school players actually knew who he was before we would start recruiting them. I need some good news to happen
