  1. The point being made is not that he has done a bad job. Just that it hasn't warranted this type of commitment this early.
  2. I feel like the fan base has been enamored with Littrell from day 1. People have gotten excitement from the smallest things he has done, including things that the prior regime was doing as well. All for the simple reason, IMO, that the fan base has wanted this hire to be successful so, so bad. And that makes complete sense and there's really nothing wrong with that. What does concern me is the similar unconditional infatuation that Baker seems to have for Littrell; a coach he didn't even hire. That is very concerning to me, especially when I start thinking about the idea of Baker needing to part ways with a hire of his own. When we extended Mac, there were clear areas of concern in which he had not addressed his capabilities surrounding. To that point he had only signed one high school o-lineman who was capable of playing meaningful snaps (Cyril Lemon). He had yet to prove he could sign a legit FBS-caliber QB. Same for defensive line, as all four starters on the bowl team were inherited from the prior regime. The bowl team featured 7/11 starters on offense and 6/11 starters on defense who were inherited from Dodge. And his recruiting was subpar, especially when looking at who else was recruiting the signees of our three classes to that point (not many other FBS schools). We're on Littrell's third recruiting class and of the last 14 commits he has received between the 2017 and 2018 class, 13 of them have been players who did not have any other active FBS offers. And that one who does has been tweeting at coaches from other schools asking them to follow back, and is clearly looking at other options. I know we had a decent year on the field, but it's disappointing to see another extension/raise before we see ability to win recruiting battles consistently.
  3. I believe he would. The rule, as I understood it back with the 2014 class when Mccarney officially announced that spots in that class belonged to Blake Macek, Kenny Buyers, Skip Caldwell, and Kaydon Kirby, is that a player has to play two seasons as a walkon for that team in order to not count towards a class when placed on scholarship. I'm really not sure about that rule anymore. We seem to have filled up our classes with traditional signings and still had room to put walkons on scholarship who played just one season for us as walkons (Andy Flusche, Sam Rice, etc.)
  4. Mean Joe Greene will be on 105.3 The Fan next Monday morning as Chris Arnold and Bryan Broaddus fill in for Shan and RJ.
  5. Thank you! I was aware that it was Tune's dog and it was lost, but I never understood the backstory as to why this story seemed to get so much fanfare, and why the dog was on the front page of GMG when I joined. Not saying losing a dog isn't a big deal, I just thought there may have been something a little more to it for the reasons I mentioned.
  6. Dillman played for La Mirada through his junior year. Same school that Brown graduated from, and the same class.
  7. The more likely connection here may be to Kevin Dillman. They were high school teammates.
  8. Can someone explain the story of Ray to me?
  9. FBS Schedules shows us with games against Army in 2019 and 2020. So that's 4 games, including the game played in 2016 and the game scheduled this season. I don't see the schedules on there past that but it seems like the other Army games would be in 2022 and 2023.
  10. Now that he's locked up we can work on securing a commitment from Ladainian Thompson.
  11. They also don't have anyone left on staff to update it otherwise
  12. Duffy makes 13. Returners (6): - Greg White-Pittman - Shane Temara - Allante Holston - Khalil Fuller - Ryan Woolridge - AJ Lawson Signees (7): - Zach Simmons - Mark Tikhonenko - Umoja Gibson - Roosevelt Smart - Michael Miller - Tope Arikawe - Jorden Duffy
  13. Absolutely. But we need more than just two of these guys to prove we have really turned the corner in recruiting. We had Guyton and Cameron Johnson last year, who had similar offer lists. The issue was that that was it. The ability to get competitive pulls with more consistency is the key.
  14. I disagree. Gray has a decent offer list, but not one that currently would stand out among all CUSA signees. Gonna take more than two good gets. Definitely would be a step in the right direction. The key is showing he can do it consistently against the teams we compete against. Would like to think we are seeing the beginning of that.
  15. Again, I was just speculating and giving recent examples of similar situations. Whether he stays committed or not, there is clearly a long way to go on this one and this means we lead with him. That's the way I look at it, which is a good sign.
  16. Yeah, he did. Doesn't necessarily mean his mentors signed off on it.
  17. Just speculating, but it's quite possible he did this just to have a commitment on twitter and didn't fully consult his coaches/parents/mentors. It has happened in the era of twitter commitment announcements. There have been these instances where mentors find out via twitter, then get a chance to talk it over with their student-athlete and you see the commitment rescinded. Unless this kid was planning on completely shutting off his recruitment for the next 10 months, this doesn't really change anything as far as I'm concerned. It means we're leading in his mind either way, but that he has too much development in his recruiting process left to make a legitimate commitment. Still a good sign.
  18. He deleted his tweet about committing to us. Nothing about committing to us on his twitter profile anymore
  19. On the 85 overall and for the 2018 class. Doesn't free up a spot in the 2017 class.
