  1. Losing two walkons who never played a snap and were never in a position to doesn't really do anything to our depth. We'll have Fine as a junior next year with Shanbour as a RS SR and Pearson as a RS FR competing for the backup spot, as well as two incoming freshmen in Bean and Martin. As for immediate depth, it's Fine and Shanbour for the rest of the year and if both were to get injured somehow they'd go to Pearson like they probably would have if Isadore and Cason were still here. Then they could redshirt him again next year if they wanted to, with Fine and Shanbour returning.
  2. With competent leadership we should've won two west division titles and a CUSA conference title in football in our first 5 years. And something similar in basketball. CUSA Basketball has been worse than the Sun Belt since we left. But hey, nothing we can do about that now. Looking like we're in good hands going forward.
  3. Because they aren't a great team and our conference is pretty not great as a whole.
  4. That UAB loss to Charlotte looms huge. Also, La Tech plays FAU next week
  5. La Tech 42 North Texas 38 Team with the last drive starting with over a minute to play in regulation wins
  6. As a Titans fan, this is sound advice
  7. You're looking forward to the game this Saturday, huh?
  8. Yeah, was wondering about Duffy. I was expecting him to be our top creator, and either lead us in scoring or be second to Lawson. He won the 3-point contest so hopefully he's almost ready to play.
  9. Told you guys I'd expect to see Lawson play some 4
  10. Sharks need to watch out. This dude is gonna have a lot more free time now
  11. Undefeated at home is a pretty solid recruiting advantage we are building ourselves this year.
  12. Just making the point that everyone on the alumni side on this board are almost all die-hard fans who have cheered hard for years, through many worse seasons and many longer prolonged stretches of losing. The people of this board are not the problem and never have been.
  13. Look, we're 5-3 for the first time in the Austin-Rodgers-UNT-fandom era. We alumni need to cheer like we've never cheered before (or have cheered before?). Time to support this team (that we've supported for years).
  14. Wow! Great commit.
  15. Tennessee's former starting QB Quinten Dormady is not making the trip with the team this week to Lexington, and is opting to have season-ending shoulder surgery. With an impending coaching change and him losing his job to a RS Freshman, he has made it clear he is uncertain about his future with the team. I'm gonna take an early stab and predict he ends up at UTSA. He is from Boerne, 30 miles from San Antonio, and Frank Wilson is an SEC guy, plus Dalton Sturm is a senior. Something I'm gonna monitor in the next few months. Carry on.
  16. Anyone go and have a report?
  17. Not gonna speak for JayD, but if we don't get a back this class we'd be down to 4 scholarship backs with eligibility going into next year (Smith, Johnson, Siggers, and Wyche). We have 6 on this year's roster with Wilson and Tucker leaving. I wouldn't be too upset if we didn't sign an RB this class, but 4 could be dangerously low. If a dude went down early in the season or in camp, you'd be looking at going most of or the whole season with 3 smaller backs. Maybe Tyreke Davis could help fill in, but I think we probably get one to be safe.
  18. Very specific, but that falls under number 4. It sounds like you just really get irked by playing key guys in blowouts and risking them getting injured when the game has already been decided. That's valid. It just seems to me like many in here are frustrated at the game and are looking at anything to be upset about. I think Littrell deemed it more important long term, both the rest of this season and beyond, to get Fine more reps and maybe even trying to get him in a groove to regain some offensive momentum heading into next week. I think it worked about as well as we could've hoped. Given that Fine and the offense closed out the game decently, I just think there are a lot more places to direct one's ire at then saying that Fine COULD have been hurt by staying in. Hopefully our offense and Fine got back on track at the end and can parlay that into next week before the game is out of hand.
  19. Reasons you'd pull your starting QB: 1. Your starter has not solidified his spot, is playing poorly, and you want to see if the other guy can outplay him in live-game action. - Not the case here 2. Your starter is nearly/is the single reason your offense can't move the ball. - Didn't play well but that can be said of nearly the whole team 3. It's a blowout and you want to get your younger QB some reps. - Well, it definitely was a blowout, but he is your young QB who you want to get reps. In a year if this happens, it would probably be a good idea to get the. RS Freshman Cade Pearson some reps. 4. The game is out of hand and you don't want to risk injuring your starter. - Hey, could've pulled him based on this line of thinking but we chose to roll the dice here. In conclusion, we got the youngest scholarship QB on our travel team as many reps as we could, he stayed healthy, and during no point in this game would pulling him had raised our chances of winning.
