  1. Holston needs to not be the inbounds man on key plays anymore but hey, big-time win. Gotta be our biggest win since A&M back on New Year's Eve 2013.
  2. There are homer broadcasts, and then there is this one. Watching this game on mute makes it feel even more tense haha
  3. Good post. Really well put. I don't entirely agree with the logic but it makes sense
  4. I always thought it was a little weird that our team goal was to win our bowl game. I found it weird that we would prioritize winning a bowl game against an opponent that could be a double digit win team or a 5-win G5 who got in on APR, or anywhere in between, over winning our division or conference. Also because winning our conference could mean a better bowl opponent thus making it harder to achieve our "goal" of winning our bowl game despite winning the conference. All that to ask, what do you think our goal should be next year? Obviously winning the west is not aiming high enough, so do you guys think it should be winning CUSA or winning our bowl game? If I had to guess, it will be winning our bowl game again since it is "unfinished business" but I think winning the conference is more important and defined, personally.
  5. Yes. He finishes with 4,052 passing yards on the season and 30 TDs/15 INTs. Broke our previous single-season passing yards record by 949 yards
  6. Yup. At least a year ahead of schedule. Lost to a senior-heavy team today. Two more years of Fine, a lot of these skill players, and to get better across the board.
  7. Gonna have to disagree on attitude. But his sophomore season was similar to Mayfield's
  8. Holiday party tonight, plane flight in the morning. Not to New Orleans :/
  9. I think having a "power" back for the main purpose of getting short yardage or goal line touches is overrated. Big guys typically take longer to get going, so if there is backfield penetration they're equally as screwed or more screwed than small or regular sized backs. Maybe more so because those guys have a better shot at running away from the trouble. I think blocking by the line and the back's cutting ability are both more important than having a big powerful back with the ball im short-yardage situations.
  10. Maybe player preference? But I think after an injury it is no longer a choice of preference.
  11. Pretty standard now for quarterbacks to wear knee braces on their left knee (or right knee if they're left handed). Maybe he didn't before the injury, but they may very well just have Fine wear a knee brace the rest of his career now.
  12. Four to play three
  13. Looks like he's signing early. This is a huge coup by the staff. Most highly-recruited player they have signed since getting here.
  14. Look a few posts up
  15. It's not hilarious. It's realistic. When Fine came in, he was essentially one of two scholarship QBs. Martin will be one of five, with three having seniority over him including the first team all conference QB. Not only that, but if you give Martin the number two job in the scenario in which he wins the backup job, you're likely going to get a transfer from both Cade Pearson and Jason Bean, which obviously hurts your depth down the road. When we replace Fine in 2020, I expect the coach (whoever he is) to not name the starter until a week or two before the season opener. Coaches almost never name starting QBs during the spring anymore, when there is no incumbent or if there are two with equal experience. This is to prevent transferring, or at least delay it as long as possible, so there can be adequate depth at QB.
  16. B. 2 FBS offers other than ours is the baseline for a B rating. I don't factor in FCS offers in my ratings. I've never found a good way to differentiate between JUCO and HS recruits, which they are different, as 93-98 mentioned.
  17. If you're able to evaluate the issues, I hope Littrell can too.
  18. Yes he has a redshirt available. He's a true freshman. Wouldn't be a bad thing to redshirt, but I think we could really use him this year given that he adds two things we could really use another of (a stretch 4 and another three-point shooter). We only have 9 healthy scholarship players right now. I'm willing to bet we'll be in a better situation in terms of depth four years from now (when he'd be a redshirt senior). Maybe he could benefit from more time in the weight room, but he's on the skinny side and he likely will be for the rest of his college career, with or without an extra year. If, big if, he is cleared this week then I think it makes more sense to play him in a year where we are short-handed. Would also give him a chance to grow into the Temara's role and step into the 4 spot next year once Temara graduates. Redshirting wouldn't be a bad thing either though.
  19. I'm excited about it. For us
  20. I'm not too concerned with what we get right now. This staff hasn't been successful due to winning head to head recruiting battles. They've done that a few times like with Guyton and Henson, but they've had more success at the end with guys who had their offer lists dry up (Nick Smith, Rico Bussey, Ladarius Hamilton, Eric Jenkins), and guys with no other FBS offers who they evaluated successfully (Fine, Sosaia Mose, Ejiya, Hall, Muhammad). I think that's the extent of Littrell signees who start for us (Lawrence was a walkon). Anything here is gravy, imo. Even though there is an early signing period, as long as there are only 25 spots per class still, we still should be fine with what we've been successful doing.
  21. Big difference is, those are actual nicknames. "The Russian" is just lazy. Typing "Tikhonenko" is the same amount of characters. If you just type out the letters then hit the left suggested name in auto correct, it will leave it.
  22. Good question. He can't practice right now, but neither could Jorden Duffy prior to his return from injury and he played the first game of the year before returning to practice. So there is some precedent for Mccasland working a guy into game action before he has had much practice time. I think he would eventually get significant minutes since he is one of two stretch 4s on this roster (he and Temara), and since we are so depleted at guard, we need Lawson playing more 3 and less 4.
  23. He can't sit on the bench right now while his eligibility is being determined. He usually sits in the first rows right behind the bench. Apparently the ruling is about to be determined this week, one way or the other. Also, bonus points to you for typing his name instead of referring to him as "the Russian"
  24. The link to Vito's story isn't working, but he was saying at the time that he was recruited at rover. Graphic when he signed said Linebacker, though.
  25. Thanks! Any idea if the commitment was an HS or JUCO guy?
