Mccrae will come in as a redshirt sophomore. Dempsey and Gray will come in as juniors (I believe both will be true juniors).
-
I agree. Except I think our personnel is best suited for a 4-3, which I think is easier to recruit to as well (probably why we were able to bring in the personnel for it). KD Davis, Tyreke Davis, Kevin Wood, Gabriel Murphy, Grayson Murphy, Larry Nixon, Chris Thornton, Jordan Hunt, Taylor Jacobs, Jordan Brown, and Jacobi Johnson all are projected to be second-level linebackers on scholarship next year with only one of those 11 being a senior. If we choose to run a scheme that only utilizes two second level linebackers, then we have grossly mismanaged that position from a standpoint of how many scholarships we have assigned to it.

Tavorice Weaver, Dane Jackson, Jordan Nichols, and Isaiah Johnson are the guys I am looking at right now. They each show either one or no other FBS offers, and to my knowledge none of them have taken official visits, which leaves them eligible to be blueshirted. If we don’t see any of them on an OV this weekend or announced as part of the class next Wednesday then that should be a pretty apparent sign that we’re trying to squeeze some more room in this class, presumably for instant impact transfers.

They didn’t dive into this in the 247 articles, but do you know what Mccrae and Dempsey were pitched as far as what type of front to expect? Given that Dempsey was a 3-tech in JUCO, I could see the coaches telling him he’d play 3-tech whether we go with a 3-man or 4-man front. Maybe same for Mccrae at end, but it’s interesting to me that we were able to get such solid JUCO players who had so many other options with no defensive coordinator or scheme to show them where they’d fit.

‘20 DT Alvin Dempsey - East Central CC Miss

Novil, Dempsey, Leblanc, and Colvin has the makings of a decent 2-deep. Not the makings of being the strength of the team necessarily, but certainly not a group that projects as being a weak unit like some of us were afraid of. -

Really interesting quote to read, especially when you consider it’s his second time through the recruiting process and he has heard countless pitches from dozens of college coaches to this point.

Interesting. Some Arizona insider (they offered as well) is the one who predicted him to us last night. It looks like we are the only visit he has taken since he decommitted from Mississippi State. -

247 shows him as warm to us, Southern Miss, and FAU, and that he visited on Nov 29th. https://247sports.com/player/alvin-dempsey-46096741/ -
Huge hit for the preseason favorites as they lose the defending conference DPOY

'20 OL Anterrious Gray - NW Mississippi Community College
BillySee58 replied to Eagle71's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Congrats to Anterrious! We have 3 starting o-line spots opening up. I’m starting to think that the coaches don’t have much confidence in filling any of those spots internally. Perfect situation for a JUCO ol -
I was thinking about your comment heading into the game and during the game. Honestly, based on their performances heading into this game and watching them during the game, they haven’t been nearly as bad as I thought based on how you made them out to be. Sure they’re not very deep but they have had very respectable results in their non-conference schedule and the only reason we beat them the way we did was because we tied a school record for threes in a game.
-
Gotcha. Yes, definitely “I” and not “we.”
-
I’m not speaking on your behalf and I’m not asking you to say this is our best team 🙂
-
My expectations and hopes are based on how the team plays. The way they have played, they have built expectation for me. Whether I state it on here or not wouldn’t change how bad it would suck if they fall short of that.
-
Holding people accountable for takes is the right thing to do lol (shoutout Cold Takes Exposed). I really don’t get “pump the brakes” guy, but it usually is a smart fan like yourself in that role. I’m perfectly fine being held accountable if I’m wrong, but as long as I’m not actually part of the team, I really don’t get why it’s seen as some sort of dangerous thing to state. But whether I state it or not, it’s definitely my thought watching this team. Especially having been to about 90% of the home games during Mccasland’s tenure.

Figuring out how to remedy UNT attendance issues is something that we have countless discussions on here about for a reason. For the fans who care enough to post on here, most of us just go to as many games as we can. But for the people who don’t, yet make up a big chunk of the people who can favorably swing attendance for us, it’s hard to figure out. But based on history it seems that it takes quite a few wins, rather than just one big one, to go from what we had today to what we really want it to look like. Which is why I said the Dayton win alone isn’t going to flip the attendance issue overnight. Build up a good conference
-
Agree to disagree. Roster is better talent wise and we’re suiting up 13 scholarship guys a night when it was 10 each of the last two (I guess you could say it’s 12 this year with Alcindor).
-
On the flip side, 16-1 got people to show up for a bit but then we flopped because we just weren’t good enough to really warrant the hype. You’re definitely right about a lot of people just strictly looking at the record. Which is why I’m not sure how much a Dayton win alone would make a difference. Either way, I think this is pretty clearly the best Mccasland team and, win or lose against Dayton, as long as we keep getting better the way we have been we’re going to have our best conference showing at this rate.

Looking good and the games are fun to be at again
-
That’s not how dropping sourced info works lol
-
How would you describe the search parameters they have set on who the DC should be?
-
Yup. And Doolittle didn’t make a single three all of last season.
