We essentially get the same thing Saturday against 3-0 in conference FAU. We need to do the same thing to them, hopefully in front of a bigger crowd. On a night where WKU and La Tech both lost by double digits on the road, we made a statement. Keep winning at home and opportunities will start to open up.

Yes but posting him up and throwing him telegraphed passes isn’t the way to get him out of it. They’ve stolen almost all of them.

Duffey reportedly going to Tulane.

Aune was warming up to come in for Fine when he got banged up against Rice. After that La Tech game he was the backup for the rest of the year, even though we only saw Fine.

For me with Kuehne, it’s all about arm strength. I didn’t see a lot of it in his high school film. A huge chunk of his completions were over the middle of the field and to the side he was scrambling. He has to be able to complete passes to the outside from the pocket. If he is showing adequate arm strength and ability to complete passes on the boundaries, he could jump into the mix too.
-
It has to be Aune out of the internal options. Bean has been a turnover machine and has averaged just 4.8 yards per pass in what has amounted to more than a game’s worth of action. I know even that’s not much of a sample size, but I just don’t see it with anyone outside of Aune on this roster.

Another update, looks like Lathon is back. Really weird scenario

‘20 CB Ennis Rakestraw - Duncanville

Yup -
They had a decent non-conference showing, they have a veteran team, and had two home games. They got UTEP at a good time with all of their inner turmoil and starter leaving last week and beat them by 2, then got completely bailed out against UTSA where UTSA, with a 2-point lead and 2.9 seconds left, let the inbounds pass slip through their hands and FIU banked in a shot to tie the game and send it to OT. This is a game we should win, but this is also an opponent who is capable of beating us and is capable of pulling wins out at the end of the game. An area we have struggled. I posted this in the Marshall thread but in CUSA play the home team is 12-2. Both the teams we play this week went 2-0 at home this past week, so now it’s on us to take advantage of our home court.

That seemed to be implication reading between the lines on the quotes. But I still really like Galban’s film from his Junior year. But I don’t see it happening.

Pretty much all of these uncommitted high school players who we offered have not been recruited by us for some time. -
14 CUSA games in, the home team has won 12 of them. Us and La Tech (at USM) have the only two conference road wins so far.
-
So did we. We need to work on our late game offense and fighting pressure still.
-
Dang good win. Marshall had been playing well at home.
-
Playing good defense for the most part. They play inside out. Drives and post ups are designed to get kick out threes. It’s Houston Rockets ball. They don’t want to score out of post ups and West doesn’t drive to the basket to score. Gotta stay in front and stay home on the shooters. But offensively is where we need to pick it up.

He transferred to Frisco Lone Star from the Houston area before his senior season this year. He was a good G5 level prospect and I really like his film, and I think he has a stronger arm than Kuehne and probably Bean/Martin as well. Then I believe he had to have groin surgery before the season started and missed the whole year, so they rolled with Garrett Rangel who was a really good sophomore QB and they went to the state semis behind one of the top receivers in the country. I don’t think we’ve been in contact but I think it’d be a good fit, especially with him able to enroll this semester. HS QB market is pretty slim this time of year, especially since the enactment of the fall signing period.
-
Jeremiah Crawford would be my top priority. We need a JUCO or grad transfer offensive tackle, and getting one with three years of eligibility who can play would be the best fit to grow with a young offense next year. I think a JUCO DT should be the next priority, especially if we’re going with a 4-3. Maybe a high school QB. Chandler Galban, who missed his senior season, is a guy I have my eye on. I think he already graduated so could come in this spring if we moved on it but I don’t see that happening. After that I think you weigh your options in the transfer market.

Roger was a top 100 recruit with offers from schools like Arizona, Indiana, UCLA, and Michigan State. Simmons had 1 D1 offer from Arkansas State because of Dowling and Mccasland. Nowhere near the same caliber of prospects.
-
Well put. It’s hard to fault Simmons. I’m sure he works very hard and seems to be fulfilling his end of the scholarship as a student athlete. It’s on the coach when you sign guys who don’t have any other offers and are young, and they don’t play well. Guys like Simmons and Alcindor don’t usually transfer just because they aren’t playing much. That’s their only D1 option, so lack of playing time doesn’t usually initiate a transfer like it would with a player who did have other D1 coaches who wanted them and still might. And it doesn’t look good to not renew a scholarship/force a kid out so you get stuck.

Vote for GoMeanGreen UNT All Decade Team
BillySee58 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Honorable mention isn’t an all-conference selection. It’s just what it says, an honorable mention for those who aren’t named all-Conference. Getting named to an all-conference team isn’t a requirement. Especially when the other options didn’t either, like in the case with Novil and Abbe. -
‘21 OT Jeremiah Crawford - Butler CC
BillySee58 replied to 97and03's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Even without spring ball, I think Crawford would come in and be a starting tackle pretty easily. Getting a guy who would either be your best or second best tackle on your roster and has 3 years of eligibility left seems like a no brainer for a new o-line coach trying to get a good group that he can grow. -

Nope. Lee was honorable mention in 2013 and that was it as far as all-conference recognition for him. -
I do. Pretty confident that losing to a top 3 team in our conference on the road doesn’t preclude us from winning 10 of 18 conference games. Problem is this was a golden opportunity to step up and assert ourselves as a conference contender and we whiffed in embarrassing fashion.
