  1. Not sure if he’s still in play for us (guess is he hasn’t been for some time) but he was offered by Ole Miss recently. Maybe our coaching staff feels good about the o-line but our size at tackle is concerning.
  2. I was thinking he may have received honorable mention but he did not. https://meangreensports.com/news/2011/12/7/NT_Has_Seven_Players_Named_All_Conference.aspx?path=football https://sunbeltsports.org/news/2012/12/5/GEN_6670.aspx?path=football https://conferenceusa.com/news/2013/12/10/Football_Places_Three_on_All_Conference_USA_Teams.aspx?
  3. Yeah I was more referring to 2017 when we won despite giving up points and having a line that gave up a lot of pressure. But yeah, I’m really excited about our receiving core.
  4. I have no clue. The thing I keep coming back to is outside receivers. We won previously with a sub par line and we won previously with a defense that gave up points. But last year we didn’t have outside receivers that really scared opposing DCs like we did with Guyton and Bussey. That, to me, is possibly the biggest thing I’m looking at early on, outside of QB play. Can Shorter and Simpson make defenses pay consistently for playing man coverage on the outside? The tools are there, and hopefully they took their lumps as freshmen and can now take off as sophomores like Guyton and Bussey did.
  5. If Littrell could go 5-7 with that 2016 roster then there’s no reason this team shouldn’t be able to win 6 games. Also no reason we shouldn’t be better at QB than we were in 2016.
  6. I don’t know who the blame should be placed on for that. Seems like the coaches were intent on Harvey keeping his spot. Maybe it’s because they didn’t think Gaddie was ready but they thought he was good enough to burn his redshirt for special teams so I’m not sure. We finally have sophomores and redshirt freshmen who were a step above the older players at their position, in terms of profile as a high school recruit. Hopefully we start to see these young guys actually beat out older players for the job instead of just falling in line like they have been. Even Alabama and Clemson have underclassmen beating out seniors and juniors.
  7. Really liked Dalton Byers footwork on film and he might have the best build of any of our O linemen at 6’5” 305. Hoping he put together a productive redshirt year because if he did I think he should be one of our top 5 linemen this year. Defensively I think we really have something special brewing with the way we have recruited in the secondary. In particular I think Gaddie is going to be an all conference level player for us and I expect him to be a good player this year as a sophomore. Also really intrigued by Jevin Murray. Very highly recruited with offers from schools like Louisville, Oregon State, and Memphis. Was listed as a safety by recruiting sites but he was a stud HS corner, and will be interesting to see where he fits into the mix in the secondary.
  8. He was. We double dipped at Dekaney that year with Smith and Rod Young
  9. I don’t have height and weight compiled, and there’s really no way to do that for speed since it’s arbitrary and 40 times are pretty irrelevant unless they’re laser timed and not all recruits have listed laser-timed 40 times. I should have been more clear but I am specifically talking about offer lists and what type of data you guys would like me to run based on the offer lists. Which I realize is pretty narrow.
  10. Hey guys, I wanted to start a little side project using the information I have compiled over the years. I have offer lists compiled of each of our football signees over the last 10 years and wanted to put something together using that information. I wanted to read the audience and see what you guys would be interested in. Here are a few of my ideas: - Comparing starting lineups over the years by offer lists - Comparing position groups over the years by offer lists - Comparing offer lists of the starting lineups of conference champions over the years Let me know if there is anything else you guys might be interested in me compiling.
  11. Based on the eye roll reactions on the OP, I don’t think he’s the only one
  12. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/Jayden-Jones-North-Texas-Mean-Green-football-commit-embraces-recruitment-dedication-147704809/Amp/?__twitter_impression=true
  13. The funny thing people keep overlooking is we had always planned on 2019 being Bussey’s last year anyways. We have recruited very well at the position and with Bussey going down with the injury early, we have more experience returning than we would’ve had he stayed healthy.
  14. Yeah, the only way grades is any sort of explanation is if they were good enough to graduate but not good enough to get into his desired grad school program at UNT, while also being good enough to get into a similar program at Hawaii. Also, he was a mechanical engineering major fwiw. And if he really wanted to play for UNT again, he didn’t even have to take grad school classes.
  15. I would be speculating as to why there was a divide, but there has been plenty already posted on the board indicating UNT and Bussey wasn’t going to be a thing in 2020. Wasn’t really part of the team after the injury, was in the stands during games, and was removed from the roster pretty early on.
  16. I think people need to realize that going back to UNT has been off the table for months. He didn’t choose Hawaii over coming back to UNT. He chose it over whatever his other options were.
  17. I wonder if having two redshirt freshmen and two true freshmen tight ends will make it hard to get a good one this class. The guys we have offered this class all have pretty good offer lists and it helps to pull those guys away from P5s when we can pitch early playing time/catches. Also could be a case of the coaches going after really good tight ends who could hop the guys older than them and if we get one, great. If not, maybe they just don’t get a tight end this class instead of settling for one.
  18. Agreed. I think he’ll be our number 1 this year.
  19. Who do you think will be UNT’s best player this year?
  20. Almost all of those guys were walkons. Shilleci in 2013 and Dillman in 2015 are the only players we have signed out of Guyer since they opened in 2005.
  21. One of their assistant coaches, David Hill, played at Arizona under Littrell. That’s the school where 2020 signee Jonathan Pickett is from, and we offered a lot of their 2021 guys shortly after we landed Pickett.
  22. I can never get over how bad the angles UTSA’s defenders took on that Bussey TD. How do you let a guy score with this many defenders in position to at least get in on a tackle? Far from a complaint on my end though.
  23. Because other sites actually have rated him now, and Rivals rated him a 2 Star. No site dropped his rating since he committed.
