  1. Him saying he seriously doubts they can pull off moving it to the spring is troubling.
  2. Looks like P5 ADs are thinking a delayed fall start playing only conference games. Not the majority, but most common choice.
  3. Last one I remember is Jordan Murray in 2015. Don’t think it has happened under Littrell.
  4. Your comment was “Aune has been away from the game for a LONG time.” Not that he hasn’t started a game in a long time.
  5. I have heard that likely being the case in NFL camps (sorry, Mason). Not sure about college.
  6. Aune has been in a college program since January 2018, which is longer than any other quarterback on our roster. Reading this board you might think he hasn’t touched a football since he graduated high school 8 years ago.
  7. It’s not, but the thought is having a bus directly pick up your players is safer than going through an airport.
  8. It’s going to be tough a decision and, like you said, will vary by program. I’ve seen some people suggest if the season were moved to the spring we would possibly only have conference games so that teams could have adequate time off to start the next season in the fall. If you’re UNT, would you rather have an 8-game schedule with fans or a 12-game schedule with limited fans or no fans at all? Could we fit in any of the non-conference games? We could really use that A&M paycheck. And for the big conferences, yeah they get good TV money but would it be more beneficial to wait if it meant significantly more ticket revenue? So much to get decided here in the next 30-45 days
  9. Feeling like football is going to get pushed to the spring
  10. I like that venue. Would be happy with that.
  11. With the offensive line, I keep coming back to wondering if Erik Williams could have a chance to break the starting lineup. A lot of our guys competing for spots are between 270 and 280, so if he comes in around that weight I could see him having a shot.
  12. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/North-Texas-Mean-Green-basketball-adds-multiple-elite-teams-to-loaded-schedule-Oklahoma-State-148610923/Amp/?__twitter_impression=true Reporting it to be a neutral site game in DFW.
  13. NCAA just approved 0 being a legal number in football.
  14. This dude’s basketball recruiting is blowing up like crazy. It had been lagging behind his football recruiting but he’s a legit P5 recruit for both.
  15. In college basketball the Big East, which no longer hosts football, is considered a Power Conference. So there are 6 Power Conferences (P6) for basketball.
  16. 2016 and 2017 we typically had traditional slot receivers at both inside spots, but coaches started to transition to this look in 2018 and really started the full-on shift in 2019. That’s why we have seen so many tight ends recruited the last few years after we didn’t recruit any from the 2016 through the 2018 classes. Unfortunately last year this shift was derailed by Kelvin Smith’s injury, but this should be the norm going forward. Like you said, matchup nightmares like Lyles and Christian Lee (and hopefully Gumms) in one slot with shifty speedsters like Darden and Kealon Jackson at the other. And some blocking ability at the position from guys like Jake Roberts to keep things well rounded.
  17. He is listed as a tight end because he was moved to the “Y” receiver position, which is an inside receiver position in our offense. We have two inside receiver positions, “A” and “Y”. “A” is more of a traditional slot receiver like Jaelon Darden who is our starting “A” receiver, and “Y” is a more like a pass-catching tight end type body. Lyles, and all of the players listed as tight ends, are our “Y” receivers. So while Lyles is listed as a tight end you won’t see him lining up next to an offensive tackle with his hand in the dirt combo blocking a defensive end.
  18. If he came we would have up to 4 underclassmen tight ends who had P5 offers out of high school (Lyles, Alberding, Roberts, Gumms).
  19. Added a couple more P5 offers in Colorado and Arizona. Up to 5 total P5 offers now. Gotta be pretty glad we were able to get him sold on us and committed to us so early on, but you have to recruit this guy like he’s your top target going forward, and not just a standard commit who’s just counting down the days to sign.
  20. Maybe he’s just working the crowd but he seems very interested in us.
  21. We are also to the point now in recruiting where the guys we are getting out of high school were just as highly recruited as the P5 transfers we are getting, with the exception of Nick Harvey. The transfers are just older and had trouble getting on the field.
  22. It’s a possibility. Especially for non-P5 schools that don’t have the big TV deals and can’t afford having no fans in attendance. But financially this means trying to stay afloat longer without that revenue stream, which is a separate issue.
  23. We’ve signed a JUCO offensive lineman every year under Littrell, and some years more than one. So I think we’ll continue to sign JUCO offensive linemen. But I want to see us get more creative and look at the FBS transfer market for offensive linemen, especially guys who have multiple years of eligibility left, rather than just grad transfers. We need to find some way to up our talent level and size on the line. We have redshirted every high school o-linemen Littrell has signed so having adding an FBS transfer or two who has to sit out a year shouldn’t throw off our depth.
  24. Yes, these outline the issues perfectly. And you look at our 2021 offers, every tackle we have offered is committed with the exception of 3: Max Merrill (showing warm to Louisville), Joseph Amos (showing warm to SMU and Houston), and Anton Ambuehl. We are Ambuehl’s only FBS offer. We have recruited every other position very well recently, with the arguable exception of QB. Maybe we should just try and work the transfer market more effectively, although Plantin flopped as well. Maybe guys who have to sit a year then have multiple years of eligibility left?
  25. Good news is we have been recruiting d line very well. Signed 3 d-linemen last class who had multiple P5 offers, and have one committed currently who has 4 P5 offers. O line is a much different case.
