9/5 Houston Baptist vs North Texas
BillySee58 replied to Pavlovs Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah I just hope the results aren’t like Dajon’s against Nicholls State in 2014. Really bad team made him look good, but was a turnover machine in every other start against FBS opponents -

Deonte Simpson looks built like a running back this year. Want to see what he can do in the open field. -

Especially that out route to Pirtle. It looked a lot like his pick 6 against La Tech, just with an inferior DB. But he looks like he has much better command of the offense than when he played last year. -
2021 - Kaleb Stewart (PG - Crowley)

Dang, that hurts. Really thought he would’ve been good here. -
Yeah, we scheduled four games before then. Also at LSU and home against a Southland team and UTA.

Luke Walerius randomly retweeted this today. Read into that at your own caution. Also, looking at the replies I’m compelled to remind people, don’t tweet at recruits.

Florida under Steve Spurrier had a lot of success playing two QBs. The thing was, they played multiple QBs because they had multiple good QBs and he was never afraid to go to the other QB if he wasn’t getting the play out of the position that he wanted. 94, 95, 98, and 2000 Florida teams all had multiple QBs with over 1,000 yards passing and at least 10 wins. I also think we’re making a bigger deal out of this than we really need to be. Seth even said someone is eventually going to pull ahead, and I doubt it will take all that much live game time for someone to pull ahead. I don’t see the issue in letting them both play if it really has been that close a race, since ultimately we want to know which QB will be better on gamedays anyways. Pretty clear from his press conference that his plan is not to keep rotating them all season. -
September 1st is when coaches can officially start recruiting class of 2022.

Very intrigued by how this plays out.

The defense is very confusing, especially compared to what Brune had relayed. It sounds weird, but I think that “FS” spot might actually be more of a nickel corner and that “SAM” spot will be more of a roving safety type role. Sanders and his backups (Neal and Morris) are all listed as DBs so I doubt they moved them all to linebacker. Also, both Vito and Brune said Cam Johnson had been moved to nickel and Murray, his listed backup, has been seen as more of a corner this fall camp. I think Bowen just has confusing terminology when compared to a traditional depth chart position listing. -

Also, our starting QB taking a knee instead of picking the snap up off the ground when the closest guy was being blocked 5 yards away was the icing on top imo.- 57 replies

Hey, at least we get to see both for ourselves! -
Most likely situation feels like it’ll be Aune starting, then Bean rotating in next. That was what they did in the scrimmage last week and it sounds like neither did anything that day to prove one was the undisputed starter over the other. That scrimmage was the conclusion of fall camp, and they went into season practice structure last week, so a lot more ones vs scout team and less ones vs ones. Hard to imagine Aune completely usurps the starting QB role in that type of setup, and even more hard to imagine Bean leap frogs Aune and becomes the undisputed starter in that setup.

It’s a good question, and I’m not sure the NCAA has really expanded on it. My guess is the coaches will proceed like normal with redshirts unless it is explicitly stated that this will be the case.

With two weeks between the HBU game and SMU, I could see that one making extra sense for Siggers to sit. Give him an extra two weeks to get near 100% since he was only recently cleared for contact. I think we’ll see Torrey, Nic Smith, and maybe even Isaiah Johnson since this would be a good game to get him some action and still have 3 more to preserve his redshirt.

Predicting that we sit Siggers against HBU and Adaway goes over 100 yards

Shakeem Alcindor No Longer On Roster

Scholarship was awarded to JJ Murray, so we are back up to 13. Happy for JJ, but also disappointed we couldn’t bring in a potential impact guy with the spot. This brings our scholarships available to the 2021 class to 6.
