  1. I think the most disappointing thing to me this season has been watching so many of our highly touted recruits from the recent classes relegated to the bench while the guys ahead of them perform poorly. Are the guys on the field truly the best we have? Are the highly recruited guys busts who are stuck behind below average CUSA-level players? Should the coaches be giving other guys more shots? When I saw the initial depth charts this season I was a little disappointed at how this was transpiring, but I gave the coaches the benefit of the doubt and trusted that the best players were winning the jobs even if they weren’t the best recruits. I wasn’t at practice like they were. Alex Morris had multiple P5 offers and he hasn’t been on the two deep all year. He popped a dude on special teams last night and we’ve had so many DBs get trucked and then the RB is off to the races. Makyle Sanders has been taking terrible angles and giving up big pass and run plays. Morris couldn’t help there? Khatib Lyles had 4 P5 offers as a receiver and he’s stuck as a tight end behind about 3-4 guys. He couldn’t make some of the plays/catches that White and Ogunmakin have missed out on? He couldn’t outproduce 2 catches for 18 yards from those two combined? Murphy twins at LB, what’s going on there? KD Davis pointed them out as guys who came in looking good when everyone came back to campus, why the need to play a walkon fullback over them? If the coaching staff can’t take all these highly recruited players and put a competitive team together, then what’s the path to them turning things around?
  2. This is a football forum. People are free to discuss their opinions on football players as long as their comments aren’t personal or demeaning. If saying he “didn’t really deliver” is seen as insensitive, then that’s basically saying any evaluations of a player that aren’t positive are insensitive.
  3. We only look at things that way for Fine and Bean
  4. Fine had Darden, and Guyton, and Bussey. You aren’t asking to subtract the plays they made for him from his statistics. If Fine played the exact game Aune played last night everyone would be saying “he doesn’t have any help outside of Darden. The Shorter injury screwed him. Look at all the drops.” Also, the idea that he underthrew Darden a lot last night just isn’t true. Aune has been far worse at overthrows and miscommunications than underthrows. After rewatching a lot of the game, the only one you can really make the claim that he underthrew him on was the play where Darden stumbled out of bounds on the sideline, and even that one was a slight underthrow at worst. And by the way, I’m not claiming Aune is better than Fine. But God forbid he gets any credit for the passes he made or is actually judged by his body of work, and not just scorn for getting the job over Bean. Aune went over 100 passes in between interceptions, while Bean has thrown 5 in 64 career passes. He’s the best we have, and if that’s not enough then that’s on Littrell for not recruiting a better QB.
  5. Let’s see what the stats say, just looking at efficiency-based stats. I’ll throw in DT too. Completion percentage: 1. Fine - 62.78% 2. Thompson - 60.28% 3. Aune - 56.49% 4. McNulty - 52.21% Yards/Attempt: 1. Aune - 9.5 yards/attempt 2. Fine - 7.56 yards/attempt 3. Thompson - 7.04 yards/attempt 4. McNulty - 5.83 yards/attempt TD/INT Ratio 1. Aune - 4.5 TD/INT 2. Fine - 2.75 TD/INT 3. Thompson - 1.25 TD/INT 4. McNulty - 0.66 TD/INT QB Rating: 1. Aune - 155.9 2. Fine - 140.7 3. Thompson - 126.1 4. McNulty - 101.9
  6. Scary thinking about next year if Darden goes to the NFL or grad transfers. Everyone else returning almost all of their starters and us losing Darden would be a dire situation.
  7. Imagine what Fine’s numbers would’ve looked like last year if he had Jaelon Darden
  8. Every player on our team except Deion Hair-Griffin signed/joined this program under Littrell. Technically he signed under Littrell but committed under Mccarney. If the players aren’t performing well enough, the blame is on him. He either should have recruited better, signed a better position coach, or gameplanned better. I do agree that the coaches do deserve credit for the things that do go right.
  9. Yup. We are the worst despite having a QB that is performing in the upper half in basically every statistical category. Which means our problems lie elsewhere.
  10. I want to see some of these guys who had multiple P5 offers out of high school. Burns is a walkon with two drops and he’s keeping Kealon Jackson, who had multiple P5 offers, off the field. White had a bunch of chances and multiple drops and he’s our best shot at making plays when Khatib Lyles (currently at tight end), Loronzo Thompson, and Detraveon Brown all had multiple P5 offers? I get offers don’t matter when you get to college, but it just seems like this staff is so stubborn at trying new options.
  11. Right, the conference that we play in, with the teams that we play against
  12. It has been. Aune has been getting crucified on here for his slight misses but Darden had two big drops (loss still not his fault at all), White had two big drops, Burns had two big drops on 3rd/4th down, and Simpson had a big drop that could’ve given us a manageable 3rd down after a big sack when the game was closer. Aune has been far from perfect, and he does deserve a fair share of blame for the offense’s struggles at times, but if we had a good defense we’d be looking at things a lot differently. People won’t believe this, but Aune is in position to possibly be all-conference compared to what the other QBs in the league are doing. He’s gonna keep getting hated on unless we’re winning, especially by people who wanted Bean to be the starter coming in.
  13. Aune’s fault. Bean would’ve thrown a more catchable pass
  14. Our defense asks our cornerbacks and safeties to make one on one tackles too often. As an offense you draw up situations where your back is one on one with DBs. Seems like our defense does too
  15. Greg White reminds me of Terrance Williams with the body catching
  16. He sucks. Get him outta there.
  17. Not sure if he gets too much rope because he’s an upperclassmen or the coaches really feel he is the best player, but he has been a well below average CUSA football player each of the past two seasons. Give someone else a chance
  18. I know no one cares if it doesn’t result in a win, but we are playing more true freshmen this early in the season than I think I’ve ever seen. Probably a lot due to eligibility being frozen, but these are guys who were legit recruits. Not guys playing just because.
  19. That touchdown play was mostly just a good play call, but having 6’1” 299 lb Tashoyn Johnson as your edge defender is asking for something like that. Dude might have been able to run it in
  20. KD Davis hurt on a play that occurred after a delay of game. Why wasn’t the whistle blown sooner?
  21. The running game continues to put us in 3rd and longs
  22. When you return all of your linebackers, you have time to develop guys who are projects.
  23. It’s what the Charlotte paper guy predicted they’d score to Vito
  24. If we hold them to 24 points, we win this game.
  25. Yeah, I think DT was probably somewhere between the 3rd and 5th best QB in CUSA that year. If Aune can be that, hard to pass on that. But hopefully Aune can become that soon and not wait until his last year, which is looking like it won’t be until 2023 now. If he’s sophomore/junior DT caliber, I could see Drummond hopping him. That guy has more arm talent coming out of high school than anyone from the Mccarney era by a lot.
