  1. I guess since they have 5 SEC teams in the top 10, then decent chance they finish in 5th again. Not bad for ATM though. Better than many thought before this season. And somehow the whorns are preseason #11. Ridiculous. They did nothing to deserve that. Probably same experts that project potential top 25 hoops teams.
  2. So, is ATM expected to finish higher than 5th in the SEC next season, or was this year a fluke? I doubt UT can finish as high as tied for 3rd again next year in the Big 12 next year either until they address issues.
  3. Pretty sure his name was David Allan Coe regardless of of TFLF says.
  4. Try not to get those two mixed up tonight or the little one might have some splainin to do.
  5. Marshall Defensive Coordinator position = Chupacabra
  6. Nice win for sure by ArkSt. But let's not go overboard. They have a little momentum, but last year was ArkSt's first winning season in 15 years.
  7. Saw him interviewed where he was asked what type of feedback he had received and he had been advised he would be late 2nd/3rd round potential. That it something to think about, but hardly concrete.
  8. Correction: Especially Southlake Carroll defensive coordinators.
  9. evidently, especially your defensive coordinator
  10. Not that I would ever call for McNulty to be the QB (unless he is the best option), but 2011 is a long time ago. I would hope he and others have made progress since then.
  11. The dual threat QB is the bread and butter of the middle echelon of football. Good to great athletes that don't have the right measurements to fit the ideal profile. Just like the 6'8" mid major BB center or the 6'5" power forward. Guys who have been getting it done all their life in their chosen sport even though they don't fit the ideal profile.
  12. Is this just an odd coincidence that we have all experienced at one point or another?
  13. All we can do is take the necessary steps. We have (sort of) stepped beyond the SBC. Let's show what we can do for a few years by winning some games, growing our gameday crowds, increase our contributions. A couple of years separated from the SBC will eventually help with perceptions.
  14. Really looking forward to spring practice reports. So much competition expected at so many positions. Just for once, let us catch some good breaks.
  15. Teagarden was definitely tongue in cheek, but in a copy cat business, you know you will see more of that, especially in TX with the success of RGIII and JM. No doubt that it makes you look a lot better when you are a complete threat to run, but then to make throw after throw after throw. In a complete zone all year. Yes, please.
  16. I could get behind this idea.
  17. So after watching Johnny football take the Sooners to the woodshet tonight, should DT mean Derrick Teagarden? I am thinking the 6-0 jitterbug QB running the zone read with a decent arm is about to become a lot more popular.
  18. Fire cdizzle86 now! He is killing Tony Mitchell. And you would think we might go ahead and start advertising we are in CUSA (while it still exists at least).
  19. If we feel like the walkon LB is for real, it helps justify taking a chance like this, but have to be sure this is where we would fire the extra bullet if we find ourself with one.
  20. Just proof that the fear has set in on the Coog fans. They are becoming afraid to compete with the UNT/UTSA/TxSt of the world and they are becoming more desperate to keep the separation. Whooston can run, but they can't hide. Now they put 2nd year UTSA on their schedule so they can show how tough they are. Shameful.
  21. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Blair-Swanner-143717;_ylt=AhmkPPp.KJfssZePzambs0xIPZB4 Not sure he meets emmit01's 'eye' test.
  22. I posted this elsewhere, sorry if dupe. I agree with Harry and hope that egos will allow something like this to happen. The concerns of folks at SMU/UH/etc... can be alleviated somewhat by creating separate divisions so they can tell their alumni that they 'won' and don't have to play teams like us except for every few years (even though they are willing to sign 6 year OOC contracts with us, which may last longer than the conferences nowadays. How much sense does something like the following make: UH SMU UTEP Tulsa Tulane Memphis Rice UNT UTSA Southern Miss La Tech UAB It keeps all 4 private schools together, separates the teams located closely so they don't have to play each other every year unless they want to, and allows stronger teams to schedule tougher OOC games if they want to try to bump up their SOS. The oly sports get to reap the benefit of the local competition. As Harry points out, the Eastern teams could do the same type of thing. In the end, it would benefit everybody. Attack the big conferences with guerrilla tactics. Stay on the minds of the locals by playing against local competition frequently. You might even convince some alumni to sell one or two of their orange and maroon shirts and trade up to a green one.
  23. I would say it starts with a budget 3-4 times the size of ours. They shop at a completely different store than we do.
  24. To be fair, Aplin has been all world that last 2 seasons which saw Ark St have abnormally high win totals. 2010 and prior saw attendance averages in the 17k range and win totals of 6 or less in most years.
  25. Wow. Quite a discrepancy between what stAte pays their coach and what we pay ours. Seems like I saw where LaTech and ULL pay their coaches quite a bit more than UNT as well. Might have something to do with the level of candidates we get.
