  1. A somewhat discouraging trend that is continuing over the season is our low conversion percentage on 3rd and short. Our 3rd and medium and 3rd and long conversion percentages are in line with most, but we are only converting a little over half of the time on 3rd and short while others are above 75%. I don't know how those stats break down by RB and 1st half vs 2nd half. Our overall 3rd down conversion percentage is poor nationally and ranked 9th in the Belt. This tends to mean that you can't sustain drives and have to hit home runs, which explains our red zone woes and low scoring average.
  2. From this week's game notes... North Texas knocked off Louisiana-Lafayette, which entered the game with a 4-1 record. It was the first win for the Mean Green over a team with a 4-1 record or better since 2001. The last North Texas win over a team with a 4-1 record or better was when the Mean Green knocked off a 5-0 Middle Tennessee team in 2001. That win was the start of a 26-game conference winning streak.
  3. Here are the TE's that will be returning: 8 Cooper Jones TE 6-4 224 FR 84 Marcus Smith TE 6-4 238 FR 98 Jarrod Lynn TE 6-0 235 FR 88 Tanner Smith TE 6-3 234 SO 94 Raymond Burks TE 6-3 255 SO
  4. Chico should design pass routes that always keep one receiver 20 yards down field and directly in line with the primary receiver, problem solved.
  5. DT or Berglund likely at QB Byrd, JimJim, Pegram at RB Chancellor, Terrell, Harris, Pleasant at WR Miller, ?? at TE Offensive skill positions are looking strong for next year. Defense is looking tough, OLine has been strong, but will have to find a center to step up. What an opportunity in front of the program for the rest of this season and next.

  7. I am under the impression that Pegram and Terrell will both be redshirt juniors next year and therefore have 2 years of eligibility remaining. Is this correct?
  8. I believe the real key is for our backs and WRs to take a knee or go out of bounds at the 21 if they do not think they can score. As long as the plays start outside the 20, we will be fine.
  9. Let's try it, winning consistently, and see what happens.
  10. It seems the winds are changing. We still have the dreaded paycheck game, but the other 3 games next year are all against comparable competition. Assuming smoo does not all of a suddent get great, we will have them and Army, plus TBD in addition to our paycheck game. Having 3 of 4 OOC games against reasonable teams will help, and maybe we catch lightning in bottle in a paycheck game. As a reminder, we have not finished at .500 or better in the last 18 years in our OOC schedule. I believe we are a ticking time bomb waiting to go off with some consistent winning. We are the only public university in DFW that plays in the FBS. The fact that if we start winning it will come against other Texas teams and semi recognizable out of state names from CUSA will only add to the level of success.
  11. Wow, 3k is low. I wonder if suite/club tickets are actually counted in season tickets. I am certain that there is someone on this board knows the answer to this year's season tickets sold total (at least ballpark).
  12. I have read that there are 19 luxury suites. I don't know how much each sells for or how many seats/tickets go with each suite, but I would guess these numbers would be counted as season tickets. I have also read that the number of club level seats are in the neighborhood of 750 seats (I used a round figure of 1,000 of club seats and 500 suite seats in the seating breakdown estimate I did in another thread). There are roughly 6,500 seats on the alumni side that require a MGC contribution in order to buy seats, so I think it is primarily season ticket holders that would be sitting in those seats. I would guess there are typically 4k-5k normally sitting there so it seems reasonable to estimate about 5k-6k in season ticket holders (you can also be a season ticket holder in other sections as well so this number may be off). It should not be unreasonable to have 1/3 of the stadium sold to season ticket holders, which would equate to 10k season tickets. I get the feeling we are only at half or a little more of that number. We don't seem to publicize the number anywhere I have looked so it probably is not a flattering number. With that in mind, maybe 7,500 would be a good goal for next year and then build from there.
  13. Wow. That is a big chunk for us to pay. Nice to see the program step up. Hopefully season ticket sales will increase (a lot) based on the new conference. Anyone have a feel for what the season ticket sales goal will be for next year, or what it was for this year?
  14. If we are ultimately use ticket revenue to judge the health of the program then it seems more reasonable to use tickets sold, plus some sort of formula for the student tickets (scanned/picked up/whatever). The program benefits from the number of tickets they sell regardless of whether or not the people actually show up. It sounds like a lot of programs seem to use tickets sold plus however they count students, which gives a much higher number reported for attendance (i.e. smoo). I can't see how reporting the number of actual tickets sold, plus students attending we be improper and misrepresent the interest in the program. If a ticket is sold it should be counted.
  15. I remember watching ArSt game earlier this year and thinking to myself how good their QB looked. Here is to hoping ULL is making ArSt look like we made HU look.
  16. 72 - 42 Knew we shouldn't have trusted coogs to do anything other than coog it. HU loss basically looks like an FCS loss for us now. Thought you guys were decent when watching our game. Didn't realize at the time it was a career game.
  17. I am not convinced that FIU was a better get for CUSA than ULL, but I suppose they probably had both LA schools voting against them. Those crazy cajuns are good people with some pretty nice facilities and solid support. FIU is so much larger, but South Fla is a tough sports market.
  18. If we must play a bodybag game, the suggestion was to play at CB or DS as opposed to playing on the road. Would only work against teams that have huge DFW alumni that would bring about the same as home game for them so it would still be financially appealling for us. If it is a team that we could schedule home/home with then I would not want to play them at CB or DS.
  19. Coach Mac did say that he thought he would get more time over the next few weeks, but stopped short of saying it would be a result of the Teagarden injury. Makes sense though.
  20. It would be killer if we could move the paycheck game (if we must have one) to something like Cotton Bowl or Deathstar. We may be a little ways away from that though. I would also just as soon keep the SMU game as home and home. I am actually looking forward to the trip to Ford. By the way, the day he left Atlantic was a sad day indeed.
  21. I thought Tennesseans shot guns in the air and Alabamians shot off fireworks. I always get that backerds.
  22. Please, my friends call me CurveIt or just Curve. Only my mom calls me CurveItAround. Glad to hear that a few folks found it useful. It definitely helps give a little perspective on how many butts are in the seats with just a quick glance.
  23. I would like to be greedy and ask for 6-4 going into last two games, but I would take 5-5 and have two chances at getting bowl eligible.
  24. His decisions to not field those two punts late in the ULL game could have turned out very badly for us. ULL got a little lucky that they did not bounce into endzone for touchbacks (especially the one that landed inside the 10), but things could have turned out much differently and he would have caught a lot more grief. Thankfully, everything worked out for us and we get to spend an extra week figuring out which bowl we are going to instead of arguing over whether we should add women's rowing or equestrian. Oh, wait...
  25. Good thing we don't have to sell tickets to the Ohio game. Just glad to have 2 home OOC games next year.
